I am a reader. I loved "A Discovery of Witches". I read it years ago, and purchased 3 copies. One copy is my "write on it" copy, so I can put my analizations, questions, and opinions. Yeah, that's a "thang" and I do it. I keep several books by my bed, and read them all at the same time. I did say I am a reader. I read the books (All Souls Trilogy) and compared them to the tv show. I am also an adult Barbie and Ken doll collector and crafter. I also build my own Barbie Dream Houses. So..... I made the following characters using Barbies and Kens- Matthew de Clairmont, Diana Bishop, Ysabeau de Clermont, Baldwin, Gallowglass, Marcus, Phoebe, Marthe, Sarah Bishop, Em, Phillipe de Clermont, Fernando Goncalves, Miriam and Goody. I had two twin babies, then decided I did not want my babies to stay babies, so I used Chelsea dolls to make the twins. They are about 5 years old and Rebecca is blonde, while Phillip is dark haired like his dad. I purchased 2 Mattel Barbies of the World Denmark for my Diana Bishop of the past and future. I purchased 2 Mattel BMR1959 Ken with the man bun to be my Matthew de Clairmont. He is hot!!! (I thought of making "Jack" but, I could never find the right Ken.) Then Phillipe's library inspired me to build Sept-Tours Castle. It turned out beautiful. I made sure all the furniture was inspired by the 16th century to the 19th century. When decorating a French castle, it is all about the details- I did the library, the great room, entry , a more modern family room and Matthew and Diana's bedroom in the tower. You did a good book review. I enjoyed your video. Ps You should see what I did after reading ASOIAF- Fire & Blood.
Oh I love how you analyzed this. The history/lore part was definitely my favourite in this series. And in my opinion, it just got better in the second book.

@@nursays my only hang up about the show is some of the writing. I feel they were too plot heavy (I’ve only seen S1 so far lol) and didn’t really show the characters for who they are. Matthew and Diana are both so flawed and I feel like they skimmed over that stuff too quickly
I get your love of the romance. I’m not usually into romance and cushiness but OMG these books. Iv fallen in love with them. I cannot stop re-reading the trilogy.
So glad you love the series! Yeah I wasn’t a huge romance reader, I’m still not but many amazing writers do it so well I adore it as a sub genre but Emily Henry is my exception and I love love her books 🙌🏻 so I’ve opened it up to it much more and I’m glad I have ☺️

I just watched season 1 episode 1 of Discovery of Witches. Can someone explain to me how in the show, Diana asks for Ashmole 782, and the librarian gets it for her. So how did she know that this book even existed? Everywhere I’ve looked online says that she just happened to discover it while working on her research. But how did she not know what the book is, if she asked for the book to begin with? It just really confused me because I would understand if she was walking down along the book cases and just happened to discover it and not know what it was. But it just doesn’t make sense that she specifically asked for that book without knowing about its history. 😅 I don’t know if I’m making sense but i was hoping maybe it explains better in the book compared to the show?
Haha you are def making sense, all good. So it’s not meant to be answered in the first episode of the show. Her getting that book, why, how all the questions you asked for mostly revealed in s1, and then fully answered throughout the rest of the show. That book and why Diana was able to call it and why she chose it without knowing is ALL apart of the plot. Yes the book has wayyy more info but the show does an incredible job considering each season is a book (each book 500 + pages) and they only had 8-10 episodes to work with. I can’t really answer it for you cuz it’s so complex but the vague answer is: fate, time travel, chosen one, timing, destiny.
@Stephanie-Gil Diana Bishop is a researcher. She knew the book existed because of her research, so as you read you discover a spell was placed on the book to come to her when she calls for it. That is how the librarian was able to get the book for her. No one else is able to get the book. Look ago, when her own father was time walking he worked in the Baldlian Library and found the book- He put the spell on it to only go to his child, Diana. It was kind of a time-loop thing. They changed it in the show. Also, in the book I think it was her mother who wrote her the letter, but in the show they made it her dad. Enjoy reading it. Ps I read Marcus' story and I am ready for them to make it a show also.

I thought the characters were a little one dimensional but that didn't stop me from really enjoying it. It's been a long while since a book has kept me up past my bedtime, telling myself 'Just a couple more pages....' LOL
