thanks for this guys! Answered my questions. I only have S1 core, S2 core and Enter the Spider verse so i will be taking the herald pledge plus promo combon plus Sinister 6 and maximum carnage option you mentioned! S1 promo box is going for about $300 itself from what I could find.
Totally agree on the plastic tokens, they are lovely! On the cardboard locations, they are expensive for what they are but I also like them. Didn’t realise they had extra cardboard to make the threats level on them! Found that in the box after you mentioned it in this video! However I have to say, I never had a problem with the threat cards before though?
Yeah I don't mind the cardboard tokens to keep the threats level. Yes is extra but also a nice visual reminder that the ability is available. Agreed the plastic tokens are excellent quality.
No. 3: Team Decks - absolutely love the idea of this content, however I was more apprehensive about this than the campaign decks re: needing all the previous content. Appreciate there was talk of being able to "swap out" heroes, but having not yet seen it in action, I'm interesting to see how it all plays out.
Oh interesting. I was the opposite. The campaign decks seemed built for specific heroes (at least with how they were described) while team decks seemed less specific. There are exceptions though like the team deck that is all just weapons for specific heroes. This is what I'm most excited for but I think all the new design spaces they have introduced in United S3 are fantastic
Play mat: This is my first MU KS. I'm glad to have an option to buy the play mat (not having previous versions) and personally, I love the colour on this version so looking forward to having this. I don't mind that it's smaller and think it's good that they have left the notion of using a story line around the mat, whilst also not forcing people to do so, recognising some choose to play the storyline in a line. Either case, I have a feeling the storyline will be all the more important from what I've observed thus far... Exciting stuff! ❤
I'm a sucker for playmats but I also don't recommend them very often as it's usually just more. But the United playmat has been an awesome purchase. I feel it helps us play the game and is one of the few playmats I do recommend.
No. 6 - really looking forward to the campaign decks; love stringing gameplay together. (Re: rest of the content, this is my first back and have jumped in acquiring all of the content!) ❤
I am the most curious about the campaign decks. I think they sound pretty cool but I'm worried they may be too dependent on owning most or all of the content. We will be sure streaming some campaigns plays whenever the product delivers
The team decks are still OP as well, they add 1 health to every deck in a 4-player game. Again, I suggested during the kickstarter that if you play a card from the team deck you should substitute it for a card in your deck, discard your card in hand.
I have no idea if the team decks will be OP. Players are already removing a card from their decks to use the Team Decks. Having players lose health AND a card from their deck to play a team card seems incredibly harsh, especially when clearing a negative mandatory card. I'm excited to find out more about these team decks! They seem like a really fun idea.
No. 1: both great choices without a shadow of a doubt! Love both of these items and excited to play through everything! 😁👍 Re: Sinister Six moved with Carnage is going to be fantastic!!! 🤯
My group exclusively plays Super Villain mode because we are all so competitive. Civil War is my #1 expansion I'm excited about. The Gold vs Blue team was ok, but with my group, we just end up fighting each other and the villain wins.
Great discussion. These are always fun videos! I'm pretty inline with you both except for two major differences; 1. Campaign decks are at the bottom for me as I tend to avoid campaigns in general. 2. Annihilation is 3rd from the bottom (above pets and campaigns). Not much to it and the challenge sounds fun but way too fiddly to ever see much use. Maximum Carnage is definitely tops though! Especially during the KS with all the extra dashboards.
@@Co-opGuild I expect the campaign decks are possibly the most polarizing add-on in general. The added stories will definitely be nice, but the plug and play nature of United is such a big selling point for the system that the two parts almost seem at odds. That said, it's such a small part of the overall cost I have no issue getting them. Who knows, maybe we'll play them if they seem to have built in variety (which it sounds like they do).
Yes agreed. Price wise they are a lot of value and I love the concept. I'm just worried for others who don't have what they need for the campaigns. How well do substitutions work? Just a big unknown that we can't answer at the moment.
No. 9: Civil War - like the idea of adding a further change up in ways to play and, as you say, lots of additional content able to be used elsewhere, including Giant Man! Gotta love a giant mini 😁
Giant Man mini was a great inclusion. Recently Canje Studios and I tried out a fan variant of the Civil War setting which was super fun. I'll probably just play that mode with these new characters due to it being co-op
Personally, I was really joyous at the inclusion of the animals! Key incision for me were Throg, Loki-gator and the original GotG... Love this addition ❤️
Everyone loves Loki gator since the series. Would have been very surprised if they didn't work that into the game somewhere. I do like the pets in Legendary so I'm curious how they will play in United. I think my bigger issue is there isn't enough variety.
Thanks a lot for this buyers guide. I had a question, which you actually answered during this video. It was about using the cardboard locations if I’m not getting everything. So thanks for that. My other question, for adding things to pledge manager, is this…. I’m brand new to the game. In your opinion for value and gameplay etc, would you recommend which if these two bundles. A) Galactus $100 pledge, with Maximum Carnage, Sinister Six original, Fantastic Four, plastic tokens and Cardboard locations. Or B) Galactus pledge, And both season 1 and 2 stretch goal boxes. Thanks for any insight
my plan is galactus pledge, one of the SG boxes and like.. maximum carnage. i MIGHT just do the all in without the SG boxes.. and hope to get them later. i only pledged for the base $85 pledge to get my foot in the door and not miss the SGs
Ooo tough question. Canje and I chatted and think we would recommend the Stretch Goal boxes. They are excellent value and more importantly, exclusive. You will be able to get Max Carnage at retail later. It's a tough call though. Both those options are excellent choices
I'm looking at my old pledge. This is what I ended up getting: Multiverse Pledge The Age of Apocalypse Pet Companions Campaign Decks Team Decks Promo Team Decks Multiverse Cardboard Locations Multiverse Cardboard Villain Dashboards War of Kings Multiverse Plastic Tokens Original Plastic Tokens I basically got into Marvel United late, when I picked up an All-in pledge for Marvel United X-men. And I'm just back for the X-men stuff. I'm going to pick out all the X-men stuff and sell or give away all the rest. I'm really looking forward to the pets expansion (and I'm only getting it for the shark and Lockheed content). Pets are like super equipment to me. And Kitty Pride and Multipleman, and any other character who can move more pieces around the board are already some of my favorites. War of Kings mainly for Gladiator and Black Bolt (for the Illuminati Team).
So in their current form Pets are far too strong. What I suggested to the devs during the kickstarter was to remove a single card from your deck for each pet card you add to your deck. That's the only way to balance out your deck size. This still makes your deck strong but it minimizes that somewhat. It's all about game integrity. I would agree about 2 new models for the Civil War but the Cap there is the best sculpt in the entire Wave so he has to stay. I actually like Wave 1 Iron man more than Wave 3 personally.
Hmm I can see replacing cards in a hero deck for each pet card to be too powerful since you are likely replacing cards without specials for specials. This probably only really matters for 4 player games though. 2 player games are much more dependent on villains ending the game than heroes. I haven't tried the pets yet so will be interested to see how they wind up feeling balanced. I was worried about equipment feeling too powerful but so far in Spider-Geddon that has not been the case. Fortunately all the pet cards only have a single action so that should help reduce their power levels. I'm expecting them to be a moderate impact to the game with the single action and dilution of the hero cards to offset the increased deck size and additional effects
No. 8 - Inhumans are a decent team to be fair, interested to see what they do with the gameplay content beyond just the minis. Can definitely see the benefit of having a teleporting dog on your team! 😜 On the content front, certainly many of the original MU boxes only contained 3 heroes and 1 villain... Levels in this latest KS are so much better!
If they did Magus + Goddess as all-in pledge it would have lined up perfectly with Wave 1. Or Magus + Hero cards for Thanos. Magus literally controls multiple universes. 13 at the time of Infinity War. He's more Multiverse than Kang ever was. And he's more powerful and better at it.
The Kickstarter campaign is an entire experience in itself. It's like a super intense cottage trips with family and friends. And the end of it you've fought, you've loved, you probably wanted to kill some folks but after it all it was an awesome experience. Definitely we would all grab Season 4 :P
Yeah I am afraid I wouldn't be able to say no to a S4 all in either. I do think I would avoid other United intellectual property game since I have so much of Marvel already
Wow, you guys functionally build your games around your locations. I find that almost kills the game in a sense. I think it works better by just designing your team around random locations. Your team should be able to deal with the environment and villain. I mean, the only unique thing about Silver Surfer is getting to choose one location to play with.
Yes and no. We would do a combination of random and selected locations. If we did pure randomness, sometimes we would end up with multiple locations with the same or similar effects which wasn't much fun. I usually would random locations and then adjust the locations to be balanced for variety. Now for the campaign we did, that was very different as we locked the locations behind certain bosses and areas. It's not part of the rules but made it thematically fun. (We didn't use Wakanda locations until we unlocked the Black Panther area of the campaign). But yeah normally we play with partial randomness for locations
Maximum Carnage is #1. But if they would have included an automa mode for Civil War and made Captain America and Iron Man Anti-heroes so you could play against either side of the conflict. It would move up to #2.
Good question. I might suggest the Marvel United Discord: discord.gg/dPervtVh It's very active and you may get lucky and find some locals there. Good luck!
What does Canje have against pets? More pets should be added to all games. Other than Morph, Lockjaw and the pets pack are the highlights of this campaign for me.
The Annihilation heroes are just better as a foursome than any other box. So it's do you like a lot of average content or a little of amazing content. The Annihilation value is low but the heroes are far more powerful and will see more play because of it.
Oh good question. I don't believe he was part of the comics but maybe is now? I'm not sure. Even if he is added now to comics I wonder if that means he is not part of what they can do with the license. Good point!
Good question. Return of the Sinister Six is a fantastic value. I'm going to assume we are talking about the Kickstarter exclusive option here as the retail will be much more limited. It doesn't inherently mix with the core sets. The main value is being able to play as a group villain battle and each villain independently. Effectively 7 different adversaries combinations. Classic promos does add to Return of S6. Specifically you can add Rhino, Venom, and Carnage into the mix of group villain battles. To be honest, you would only use the minis and could substitute without the official mini. Maximum Carnage adds a ton to Return of S6. Specifically it adds Morbius, Scream, Scorpion, Shriek, Demogoblin, and Doppelganger You didn't mention it but Spider-Geddon, the new retail set will also add to Return to S6 with Spot and Morlun. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you! So I Guess to make good use of the Sinister Six Assembled game mode from the maximum carnage expansion it is best to also buy Return of the S6 (KE)? Thinking about pledging basic pledge with classic promos bundle and optionally maximum carnage/return of S6. Isn’t it so much content that you never get through it all? :-)
I've been fortunate to have played it all, but that took a long time to do. It's a ton of content. What you have proposed will give you a ton of content for relatively little space/cost. I think you will be satisfied. Really it boils down to the promos boxes, Return to S6 and Maximum Carnage for a ton of value and content. United is great though. I never tire of it.
By the way, need to correct this channel. Gladiator is Shi'ar and part of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. He has nothing to do with the Kree, except as a sworn enemy of them
Disagree on Civil War - No Way you can create a Retail Box for Civil War and not have Cap and Iron Man in it....expecting people to have to go either purchase another box or find the minis on Ebay or something doesn't make sense from CMONs standpoint. Also, just bc they fall on opposite sides of the Accords, Iron Man and Cap ARENT anti-heroes, the developers have really made that a point they wanted to be clear. They are heroes with different ideas of how to best be heroes. Also, this is Multiverse. Having 2 Caps and two Iron man's isn't wild. And the Equipment alone doesn't fix S1 Cap and Iron Man for me.....those two alone made Civil War a top expansion for me along with Maximum Carnage.
I do agree Civil War expansion wouldn't be the same without Iron Man and Captain America. Also while you are right they are not antiheroes, it would have been cool if they made the system work for co-op play in some fashion. Not that it needs to happen but would love to see what they could do. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Superman = Gladiator, Hyperion, Blue Marvel Sentry = very bad writing. A character who was popular for 5 minutes. Used only for a plot hole at the end of WWH.
Well he was also used to kill Aries and it took Thor to take him down. He’s not really superman either the others you mentioned definitely are but sentry’s power set isn’t really the same people just compare them because he’s got a cape and a s on his belly lol. Don’t forget he did rip carnage in half

What does Canje have against pets? More pets should be added to all games. Other than Morph, Lockjaw and the pets pack are the highlights of this campaign for me.

Hi! Question: Does return of the S6 really add something to:
Base pledge
Classic promos bundle
Maximum carnage
?
Good question. Return of the Sinister Six is a fantastic value. I'm going to assume we are talking about the Kickstarter exclusive option here as the retail will be much more limited.
It doesn't inherently mix with the core sets. The main value is being able to play as a group villain battle and each villain independently. Effectively 7 different adversaries combinations.

Superman = Gladiator, Hyperion, Blue Marvel
Sentry = very bad writing. A character who was popular for 5 minutes. Used only for a plot hole at the end of WWH.
Haha yeah Gladiator always was a weirdly interesting character being as powerful as he is confident
Well he was also used to kill Aries and it took Thor to take him down. He’s not really superman either the others you mentioned definitely are but sentry’s power set isn’t really the same people just compare them because he’s got a cape and a s on his belly lol. Don’t forget he did rip carnage in half
@tobyscustoms4813 he's not an interesting character, it's not well written and lacks depth of meaning in both scope and origin.
