Xorakus is a fully cooperative game in which players are members of a crew that has crash landed on planet Xorakus. They must work together to explore and repair essential systems in order to escape. Game play focuses on action and card play as players explore an emergent narrative and many paths to victory. If players can repair essential systems and escape before any one crew member is eliminated or time runs out, players win the game.

Yay, more Ashes! That was fun to watch, though that first round beating was rough! I don't have this deck yet, but it looks fun. Overall it was well played, but here are a few notes on things that were forgotten or misunderstood that will hopefully help in the future. You're more than welcome to ignore these if you're tired of commentary on gameplay 😁 It must have been too long since your last game of Ashes! You either seem to have forgotten, or underestimated, meditating to change your dice. Instead of leaving 3 dice at the end of the round, you could have meditated and used them. Getting rid of 2-3 cards off the top of your deck to summon another unit would have been well worth it, I think. This aspect deck has a mechanic where it destroys the rightmost "conjured aspect on this battlefield". This doesn't include your conjurations. Your conjurations are not aspects, only the Chimera's units are aspects. Also, "this battlefield" would reference the battlefield where that unit resides, which in this case is the Chimera's battlefield, not yours. This effect is meant to sacrifice the Rainwalkers for some powerful effect. A minor one here, but Shade Prowler is supposed to go away at the end of the round.
Oh my gosh! You are right I totally read that wrong about the conjured aspects! Doh! Also the Shade Prowler clearly says it fades.... Ugh my bad. I really appreciate you catching and sharing these errors. I think I need to play it more to get better at catching these dumb mistakes. Thanks again for your help and advice!
How do we access the app with the campaign map?
I have a link in the video description if you want to check it out. It is awesome! If you want to see our version of the map (with the current unlocks), it's possible to share just a little tricky to keep it updated for all. Let me know if you have any questions!
I love this game! I'm very late to the party, so I'm doing things the slow and pricey way unfortunately. Started with the X-Men core box, added a few cores and expansions. Love that it's gotten my into board games with the family. Great video!
That's awesome to hear! We will be playing United a lot on this channel. Such a great and approachable game. Thanks for sharing in your experience!
14:55 you only get to draw one of those three cards with Tony's Futurist One thing to point out, there's no "per player" on the Breakout Main Scheme so it always goes up by 1 threat when the Villain phase begins
Sound starts at 3:57
If it is "labeled as race" then it is race, not species.
So I have a dumb question but I just caught up on y'all's campaign and was wondering where do I watch y'all live each week? Thanks in advance and I have really loved watching the first campaign and am really enjoying this one as well.
Wow that's a commitment to watch the full campaign! Thanks for that. As for watching live, you already found it. We stream live on this very channel. For Marvel United, I stream Mondays at 9 pm EST. Derrick on his channel Canje Studios at noon EST on Tuesday. Another alternative is you can join our Discord (link in the video description) and I post our schedule there too.
What a clutch play at the end. Very impressive.
I love exciting endings like that. Thanks for watching!
Really fun and tense play! I played against Blastaar last week and I had a lot of fun.
Awesome! Yeah I really like his design
Thank you for this discussion everyone! Derrick, Bairnt's and Colin's playthroughs are always so fun they make you want any game :D It also happened to me with your and Steves plays .... of Marvel United in particular ^^ Side glance on the huge stack of already compacted MU boxes ^^ Have hardly played 10% of it and painted around 70% (which drops after Multiverse to around 30% oO Such fun crazyness :P ) My crowdfunding history is dominated by the hunt for the perfect multiplayer dungeon crawl experience ... fueled by nostalgia of the 1980ies HeroQuest. Euro games will always come to retail if they are any good but most dungeon crawls can only exist because of crowd funding. My first KS campaigns were such an adventure and excitement that alone for that experience they were worth every penny :D Weirdly I think All-In is kind of addictive (or may ... aside from FOMO it is another driving force that I observed for me. There is this promise, a pleasure to imagine all those possibilities and future fun times with a game. In theory it feels the perfect fit. Surely once you received it you play the base game once or twice if at all and disillusioned move on. There is also the fact that a lot of the extra content is hardly playtested and occasionally breaks the game. I have a few things that were perfect hits with me and my group like Cthulhu Death May Die, Chronicles of Drunagor and some Awaken Realm Titles. We played the heck (50+x) out of the Massive Darkness II Heavenfall campaign system and I was so glad I had the old MD1 stuff as well. Painted every monster but only two of each character class. Like with all CMON Games there are way too many heroes/investigators. Everybody can find their favourite ones but the other minis are such a waste and live out their dark days in a never to be opened again scrap box. So sad. I could not resist Dante: Inferno and Lands of Evershade but restrained myself to gameplay content (sofar) ^^ So many big boxes and I run out of feasable game space :P Cthulhu Wars currently occupies the foot of my bed because the shelves are full to the brim - sadly I am not very good at culling ^^ There is an emotional bond to most of my accquisitions even if I never played, just organized and sorted them. ^^ I really prefer games like Gloomhaven that come with vast but limited content. It was my first ever KS late pledge in 2017 and we played through it twice ^^ Agemonia is another such example that I hope to table soon. Before board games it used to be MMOs and computer gaming but playing sitting around a table with real life friends is the best way to game! :D
crowdfunding isnt the deal it used to be. exclusives arent as exclusive as they used to be. in fact, GameNerdz gets "in trouble" over MAP violations for posting campaign preorders cheaper than the campaign prices during the campaign. happens often. so much so, that between stores like GameNerdz, Recess, Zulus, the Game Steward, and more, im all in on skipping crowdfunding until publishers start to show appreciation for the members of the community giving them term free, interest free, loans. even the "deals" that work out, say like the Awaken Realms standee versions, its worth the extra 20 to make sure the game isnt a flop imo. plus i dont have to wait as they hold my money for 2 years. however, all ins almost always include items no one really wants. all to get more money in total, whether its profit or not. crowdfunding should be for the games and companies that need it. but its become a giant advertising campaign that is also extremely abusive to its customers. so while i may occassionally back a game by a company no one has ever heard of, the likelihood is extremely small. the system isnt serving backers like it should so im opting out. youre not even guaranteed your game first when it arrives if it arrives. its gotten really bad, and its not like all ins get priority in the vast majority of cases which seems counter intuitive to me. to Bairnts claim that all ins make one shot games better, im not sure i agree. i have the core Nemesis and core Death May Die and i have no urge or own more of them. i dont even have stretch goals. more just means more space, more rules, and more time i dont really have.
I go all in much less frequently than I used to. Too much stuff, too little space. And time. 😅
Sabertooth is a terribly written expansion. It doesn't tell you when to advance from 2a to 2b
Thought I would let you know I have a coop as well. Right now it's a bit of a problem...8 roosters and 7 hens....store was wrong weren't they?
Hahaha! I eat a lot of eggs and raising chickens is something that has crossed my mind. Not something we could do where we live now though.
I typically don't do all in pledges just because of the cost. But, I wonder if some people do all-in pledges for the same reason that I back the games I back in the first place. And that is, the economics of board games seems to be such that I'd better get this game now, while I can, because it may be a long time til it gets printed again, if ever. As you talked about, secondary market costs can be so high, that I've got a fair number of games knowing that I'm not going to play them right away, but I'm getting them now at a better price while I can, and I'll play them when I'm ready.
Yeah the knowledge that I will for sure get a copy is versus the risk i may find it, always gets me.
I don’t go all-in often. I’m not a fan of extra minis or mats or whatever. But I do like getting expansions that are narrative-based if I know the game is solid. Oathsworn and Aeon Trespass: Odyssey are 2 recent examples. But those are full-on researched games where I’m able to play on TTS ahead of time or get similar vibes from my various trusted YT reviewers. I got base for Tanares, Isofarian, and Nova Aetas recently, and very glad that’s all I purchased. Also regarding the buffet line topic, I recall a game recently (either Tainted Grail: ROK or Oathsworn or such) where there wasn’t an all-in option at the outset. There was a massive outcry from the community wanting an all-in bundle so they didn’t have to deal with a La carte, or they were asking which items were needed to actually play the game. It was an odd situation where the company made the bundles. Regarding storage and experience, a bad experience will negatively impact future ventures. For example, I will not buy another “Into the Unknown” studios produce because their storage inserts are awful for AT:O. The opposite can be said for Oathsworn and Shadowborne Games or the Isofarian Guard folks because they made the experience great. That points to how they approach their products, and I’d rather pay another $35 in shipping than $135 for a third-party insert.
TTS is a really good topic. I think it is a great idea to let folks demo a game before making a big purchase. There are some caveats with this approach though that would be good to discuss (maybe a future chat).
@@Co-opGuildI’ve always liked the idea of having official TTS as an optional add-on and not for the Kickstarter. Then perhaps a year down the road if you don’t go retail you could release it as DLC to broaden your audience for an upcoming new game you are developing. That’s aside from a demo beforehand of course.
I'm actually the guy that never goes all-in (other than once, which was Andromeda's Edge). For me, a lot of the content that you see in all-in pledges very well could be stuff that I just never get to. Some of the time it's things like minis, and as someone who's not a painter, I'm more than happy to skip those and opt for standees (sometimes). I also watch as much coverage of a game as I possibly can before I pull the trigger and make sure it's going to be a game that stays in my collection for a while, so that way I don't have to worry about it holding it's resell value. I totally get the value proposition of all in pledges, but some of these big crowdfunding games have so much content in just the base box that me going all-in is just adding stuff that I'm never going to get to, and that feels like throwing money away. Just my two-cents and thought process when I back games :)
I definitely agree with the sentiment of focusing on buying stuff you will actually play. All-ins are tempting, but usually only a portion is what is used most of the time anyway
Invincible question for when you play it: is episode 4 harder to beat for you as well?
I think that's the one with the force fields you must take down before fighting machine head? If so, then yes that's more challenging than most scenarios
@@Co-opGuild Yup, yo got it!
I kept yelling Horrified at the screen 😂 I need to attend this live from now on 😅
Hahaha I'll try to raise the volume on my computer next time so I can hear you better 😜 I'm not sure why I couldn't remember that name 😁
Sorry I missed this tonight. Coaching an indoor game. Great work as always and I am looking more into D Day Dice. I love their games so far and its a great theme for me.
No worries! I appreciate you watching when it is convenient! Yeah D-Day Dice is a pretty good game. I never upgraded to 2nd edition but it was my go-to game to bring on work trips for a long while.
The only expansion I have not opened yet was secret invasion But after seeing this I am going to open it.
It's been surprisingly good. I've enjoyed both villains in the set
I’m playing through this campaign as well. Just finished age of apocalypse page. The final apocalypse fight was really fun
Awesome! I look forward to trying the fight ourselves!
The thing that was fun about him was the battle is a little longer and has an epic feel. He doesn’t blew through his cards like other villians he tries to blow through your decks instead and the henchman can only be attacked if they activated which is fun. I had some luck. But still when age of apolocalypse magneto got his special 3 punches killing blow against apocalypse. Morph had 0 cards left in his deck so we would have lost the next turn. Fun that it came down to the end.
@siriactuallysara close games like that are the best! I really need to try this battle sooner than later
What an interesting villain. Very cool.
Yeah super cool concept of a villain
That was a serious nail-biter! I've watched a few games, and they often seem to go like that, which is awesome. (So glad I backed this one.)
It is well designed. You made a good choice
1:28:11 unfortunately, Bullseye can't take any damage in that location due to the Hiding Place threat card
Doh! Good call. That indeed is an error. Thanks for pointing it out!
Liam should do it.
I think we bring it back.
2 things. 1. Yes, I'm biased, but I'm surprised Tales from the Red Dragon Inn wasn't Colin's biggest surprise 2. You mentioned your Slay the Spire sleeves are peeling. It's a known issue. I sent them an email, they asked for some pictures, they promptly sent me 500 brand new sleeves. Just fyi
Tales from Red Dragon Inn is an excellent game. Just a fun experience and production all around. Thanks for letting me know about the sleeves. I assume the replacement sleeves are also foil backed? I am actually thinking of ordering a different type of sleeve anyway just to avoid the issue altogether
@Co-opGuild yes, they are the same sleeves. According to the company, there was a "bad batch" of sleeves, which caused the peeling issue. The replacements shouldn't have the problem. (In my experience with ccgs foil backed/art sleeves will always peel eventually. Definitely not as fast as mine started peeling though)
@beerman2000 ah this is great info. Thanks for sharing!
What a fun watch! And glad to see Bomb Busters brought you so much fun :)
Great video and a lot of fun (too bad about the audio issues). Looking forward to Arydia!
Adding that I hope each channel might do their own top 10 or top 5 list in some of these categories.
Equipment on the warrior states that the equipment provides an ongoing ability so I would read that as the shield provides 2 block as the ongoing ability
Good call! I provided some feedback to the designer to clarify the wording a bit
All of you are wonderful people. Thank you for another good year together.
Great video you two!
Love the playthrough tough it was a confusing one 🤯
Yeah I definitely got into my own head on this one. Oops. We are planning our revenge though
You guys are always the best, and I am humbled by the mentioning of Rogue Angels 😊 It means so much to hear that people still give it so much thought, and I will try to move as many mountains as possible, to have it out asap 🙏 I really want people to experience what I have planned for them.. A memorable journey 🙂💫✨ Thanks again, and awesome stream as always. Best regards Emil
Lost power midway through the livestream and couldn’t watch it live… im really honoured to see boss battles in the best expansion list! Thank you so much!
Simple solution for Fateforge is to stack the tiles by number in stacks by shape. It takes all of 5 minutes to get the tiles you need. I actually quite enjoyed the quick combat. They don’t expect you do defeat everything or do everything. Heck, you might not even complete all the objectives but can still continue most of the time. I can respect that the system does not work for everyone though. A good example of that for me is Isofarian Guard, I don’t get the love when the game is a big grind loop of gathering materials to upgrade/craft equipment so you can continue the story over and over again. The story is great but the grind is too much for me.
Great video everyone! We're honored to have Steve pick us as one of his games of the year! All the other picks were great as well, good content :)
Kim's eyes lit up when she found out there's a body count tracker.
😂 gotta get that high score!
Perfect reaction when learning about the body count. It’s one of my favorite moments! 😂
Glad you guys used Team United this game! 😉
I love the team decks! Easily my favorite addition to the game
STEVE AND KIM! I can’t wait for this game, backed first day!
It's really well done. Super high potential for lots of support/expansions too.
Hi guys, I’m loving this combo campaign so far! But what kinda card boxes (or what’s the actual name) are you using? I’m tired of my cards sliding around from the pile
The trays I use are Goblin Tray: Foldable & Magnetic Storage Tray for Board Game, via @Kickstarter www.kickstarter.com/projects/goblin-tray/goblin-tray-foldable-and-magnetic-storage-tray-for-board-game Unfortunately I CAN NOT recommend them as they are not responding to sales or communication. I do hope that eventually changes as I think the product is very nice. Sorry I could not be more helpful
Finally found this playthrough vs cosmic ghost rider. I watch Canjes and through google found yours channel. To continue the campaign. New subscriber now. I played cosmic Frank castle and he wrecked me. His track went up so quickly and it was difficult to manage. So Loki, iron heart, mighty Thor, and class spiderman 2099 were all KOed now in my campaign. I have to grab x-men with the portal tokens to continue now.
Thanks for the sub! And I love hearing others experiences with the campaign too. It's a lot of fun. If you ever want to share more or chat about it, we are pretty active talking United on our Discord server. Thanks for watching and sharing!
almost done painting my minis then I am delving into Maladum soon!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy it as much as we have
@Co-opGuild thanks for this playthrough. I'm reading the manual and got the hang of it so far. Some icons I just need to look up. Didn't realize you can throw weapons. Does that also work for arrows, or do you need a bow for arrows only?
Hahaha I love the thought of throwing arrows! 🤣 Sadly that doesn't work as written. Basically throwing a weapon allows you to attack from range as though you were adjacent (rolling for melee damage instead). However at the end of it all, the weapon is left next to the target zone to be potentially picked up later. Since arrows do not inherently have a dice attack value (the are only needed to use a range weapon which has these values instead), I don't think you can throw arrows. That said, I can see some fun house rule ideas to allow for something like this 😁
Great playthrough, thanks! Got my copy last week and very excited to start. :D Question: at 1h30 when failing the lockpick with the poison trap, you both took 1 damage. Didn't Kim's heavy armor block that though? Thanks again for the playthrough, very fun to watch and I really like your zooms to see what's going on! Did you do that in post or were those literal zooms?
(Ohh wait it has both heavy and light attack doesn't it, it's a bit hard to see haha)
@jjmillen correct it is all types. I'm glad to hear this video helped you learn the game!
@@Co-opGuildyeah it really helped, thanks! I also noticed you tapped your characters at the beginning of combat, do you know if you do that with every combat action or only after your first?
Technically each time. It's just a method to keep track of who's turn it is. It's pretty simple to keep track in your head though so we sometimes just do that instead
@@Co-opGuild Yeah exactly, thought so! 👍🏻
That interactive map is amazing...who do I send my kudos too?
BGG User phildinius was the mastermind behind the app. They did an amazing job!
RULES CORRECTIONS: - Players draw cards for moving into a space if that space does not already have an enemy in it - Enemies are spawned on EACH hex that matches the terrain next to unexplored terrain during the enemy movement step - Crew may freely leave a hex with an enemy at the start of their turn. When a crew moves to an area with an enemy, forced engagement will occur. - Skills may be played anytime, movement may only happen during that crew's turn. - If both Xorakians and crew survive during combat, the Xorakians will take the crew prisoner.
What app are you using?
I have a link in the video description. Definitely worth checking out! It's really awesome. I will note that it runs great on the computer but not as well on mobile. Not surprising though due to how large and extensive it is.
I feel like tracking enemy hp can be done much better than that secondary board. For example, numbered standees and a square/circular board dedicated to enemy type split radially in zones for each standee Or even simpler, just add number tokens and place them on the cards as they spawn so they match the number on the standee. Should be even cheaper of a production material-wise since the big secondary board won't be needed.
that was a lot of fun guys, thank you. I was initally only interested in the new physical items, but now after seeing the digital version in action, I'm intrigued :)
I was the same way on announcement, but I've very much been enjoying the video game. It's clean and fast, a good alternative when you can't meet in person
