- What’s up everyone and happy New Year’s Eve! I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday, and to kick things off the RIGHT way, I’ve got an awesome video in store! Tonight I will be testing the Nat. Geo. and unbelievable SCIENCE “Crack Your Own Geode” kits, and seeing just how good these geodes really are. I will say, I didn’t “crack” the geodes as the kits advertise because honestly, they’re get destroyed, and we wouldn’t really know what’s inside!
So for science, we cut open 9 geodes tonight using my 10” slab saw from HiTech Diamond to test of these kits are really worth the money or not!!
National Geographic Kit: MSRP $9.99
unbelievable SCIENCE Kit: MSRP $4.99
If you’d like to check out the equipment that I use, or want to get your hands on your own saw or flat lap, head on over to www.hitechdiamond.com and browse their selection! If you do make a purchase be sure to use promo code “GCC” at checkout to receive 10% off orders! (excludes machines)
So I was wondering. Could you do a review like this again but cracking them with a hammer or something, like someone would do if they didn't have access to a saw? I was thinking about getting the nat-geo kit for a bunch of kids I know. Mostly I'm wondering what some of those more sold ones would look like when broken rather then cut, if they brake, that sort of thing.
I luv this channel, good for you, you gained an subscription❤
Great video! I was actually impressed by some of those! You are really knowledgeable in geodes!
Really cool, never thought these kits had gems in there like these. Thanks for sharing!
I suspect most people in the market for a geode kit that is geared to kids ( like us) do not have a saw. A demo with a hammer would be more helpful.
This demonstration was to show what was inside of the geodes, not necessarily how to open them. I have many videos showing a handful of ways to open them, the sole purpose was to showcase what was inside the geodes and if they are worth getting or not. But I can put another video together where we crack them open instead of cutting.
Would you even be able to open some of those with a hammer?
i actually got my first ever geodes today the nat geo 10 premium geodes and must say I was fairly disappointed..most were not geodes but in fact solid inside..of course without a saw it was extremely hard to open them and then end up with mostly fragments..never again
Yeah, definitely not worth buying when you get solid nodules with no cavity instead of actual geodes !!! Very disappointed, out of 4 kits, we made one , and sent the other 3 back for a total refund... You could tell by the weight of the geodes that most of them where going to be solid, it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out before we ever cut into them...
Top notch tutorial for identifying roughly what they'll look like on the inside vs. outside. That green was super cool!
Can you recommend a saw that isn't so expensive?
Great video! That was fun!
Congratulations on the amazing video you uploaded and shared it with us!!
Have a nice time!!
Really neat stuff. Last one was really cool 😎. Happy New Year 😃
Wow, who knew they would actually be mostly geodes, thank you
Cool geodes music is overbearing
Geodes are like nature’s artwork.
Not sure where you live. You should look into going to the dugway geod beds in Utah. I found several different colors geods to add to my collection.
those specimens were , amazing. I got a Nat Geographic kit once, and was very happy with it
I just got my son a nat geo geode kit and we tried to open the rocks with hammers like they say to. Well we couldn’t get any open and destroyed one rock, I sure wish we had a saw like yours, what kind of uv light do you have and polisher? Thanks for the video!
I use an alonefire sv003 365nm uv light. You can find it on Amazon for about 20-25 bucks! And the polisher I use is the 8” flat lap made by hitech Diamond!
Can anyone recommend a cool geode kit for adults thats just starting out? Or a website that sells really good quality, colorful ones?
Thanks for checking these out. Looks like they are worth a try.

how do you get them so clean
You gotta wash them
Or polish them
I need to go to 5 and below tomorrow hopefully I get lucky
❤️❤️❤️
Love this
I'm so hapoy
I could make cooler boxes than National Geographic! Way cooler! Just saying 😂 ok now I’ll watch…
National geographic geode kits are crap... Got 2 kits of the Jumbo's for my grandchildren and they all where solid... Nodules not geodes... Needless to say, they got returned, and they sent 2 more kits, this time we got one set between the two that where geodes, so I only had to send one kit back... Total waste of time and money... Drove to keokuk Iowa and dug up 4 buckets of geodes for $100 and have hundreds of good ones now, will never suggest anything national geographic to anyone ever again, disappointing children isn't cool, we could have bought a bucket of 8" boulders for $15 if we wanted solid quartz!!!
And how are us mere mortals meant to open the rocks? Not really testing the kit.
Hello yours music is to loud can’t hear you what are you say
Audio is crap. Music is too loud and could not hear you over the music. Would be better without the noise!
