i woke up about a half hour ago and this was very nice to find in my notifications. Especially after waking from a weird, trippy and somewhat disconcerting dream that sort involved dolls at the end.
i started working on a painting to calm my nerves, and your voice was very comforting while working.
You also made me laugh a few times.
Sometimes i feel like i'm not allowed to laugh. Like smiling or any kind of levity is against the law, and i'm supposed to be quiet and sullen.
It's a "Me" thing, and i fight it off constantly.

@@beckysoria6569 a lot of collectors don't believe me when I say the hair is rooted on different directions. I have some more examples coming up soon.
This is such a good topic! Even expensive dolls like Integrity can have bald spots. I love taking down doll hair. Your Esperanza for example is STUNNING. Unfortunately no longer affordable. Directional rooting explains a lot. Also polypropylene hair gives way too much volume.

loved this video, I have the JLO doll that has a bun and no matter how many times I boil wash the hair it will not lay flat. I suspect the upside down rooting is the culprit. Guess it's time to practice re-rooting! lol
Hi from Greece. All the dolls you have showed in this video , I dont`t have but I do have some dolls with this issue. Barbie extra doll 7 with the bobble hair I did 3 boilwashes and they are still crimped and still they wont stay completely flat , the good thing about her is she has a lot of hair so no bald spots. Also more of the fashionistas have this thing with the rooting direction. Misty Copeland I actually like her (absolutely love her ballarina body) Unfortunately I wasnt collecting at that time and I dont have her. In Greece 2 collectors sell her for 150 euros, I love her but I cant spend this amount on a doll that is not vintage and was originally at a very low price. Ebay, again they will rip me off with shipping, so for now she will stay in Grail doll state like the 2018 X-file dolls. I do love her hair down though even if they wont lay flat (that red eyeshadow...). I also like frida`s hair and the doll is beautifull but her face is too severe and kinda needs an intense personality I feel.

@@BrokenDollyTV i gladly pay for a rerooting service. i tried re-rooting a doll myself only one time in 2020. The results were great, but i did not enjoy the process.

With Esperanza (Friday Kahlo) did you do a repaint - she’s gorgeous! And I love the look you gave to Velvet (my Misty Copeland Firebird is sealed in her box but I might look out for a secondhand one on eBay).
I realised late last night that I used to watch your TH-cam videos a lot - seems like a few years ago ‘cos you’re all grown up now! It’s great to see people who are just getting better all the time.
I didn't do any repainting on my frida kahlo, just erased her unibrow. LOL. And misty's outfit is sewn on, i think. i remember taking it off carefully and not being able to put it back on another doll because the back was sewn up the middle... I could be wrong, my memory isn't the best. but i think so. hope to see you again in the comments, friend!

hi Shan! I love to see new people in the comments. That male doll is wearing a Korean style traditional outfit my son made for my dolls... it is called "hanbok". He is actually not a barbie brand doll. He is an Integrity Toys doll, called "The Industry: Tate Tanaka". He came with really cool outfit and amazing style when I first purchased him. You should google him to see more info. I think I did a review of him too.
As far as I know there is no such thing as upside down rooting. It doesn´t matter in what direction the head is held when the doll is rooted. Upside down might work on wigs with tracks but a single plug of hair lays in every direction you manipulate it. I have so many dolls that came with factory ponytails and I boilwashed them to have straight sleek hair. With enough heat and force every hair can lay in every direction you want. Before I boil washed my dolls I used a straightener (still do) and I pushed the edge of the...heat part directly onto the plug and pulled the hair in the direction I wanted. And I held the hair for some seconds until it cooled off and it works fine (but I also have a cheap flat iron that takes some time to heat up)
@@ShinobisDestiny I do the same thing and get different results. Depending on the doll,that is. It has nothing to do with their hairstyle and everything to do with the direction of the hair in the hole. When you root doll hair, u turn the needle in the direction u want the dolls hair to fall. All rooting artists use this technique to make the hair fall a certain way... a better example is a reborn doll artist rooting the baby dolls hair to look like there is a swirl. It isn't brushed in. If done properly, the swirl is rooted in. Barbie hair works the same way. Like I say in my videos, ppl have been debating this with me for years. But can't explain why this problem only exists with dolls that came with updo styles. Not every doll with an updo Is rooted this way, which is why some can be styled easily when the hair is loose, like frida kahlo for example. Thanks for sharing your tips with everyone.
@@BrokenDollyTV Whenever you´re able to find footage of the types or rooting I would appreciate to see cause to me it doesn´t sound logical since one plug of hair can turn 360° And the plastic head gets stabbed my a mashine in a almost 90°. I really would love to see the difference. And I also rerooted some dolls so I wouldn´t know how to reroot in a direction other than just stab the hair in the hole.

I agree with you on the hair. If it’s not Saran then I don’t want it! That’s why my purchase with dolls have become limited to avoid nylon or poly hair. It drives me crazy how cheap they look/feel 😒

Do you have J.Lo’s red carpet Barbie that came with a updo bun i’m afraid to take her hair down & it doesn’t look so great. I rebodied her with the Juan Gabriel music muse body because It reminds me of j.lo’s body also have you ever thought of learning to reroot doll hair. It seems it’s not that hard it’s just time consuming also I’ve watched your videos before so I’m familiar with your channel. Nice seeing you back on the doll scene
@@Coco-ug1ni she's one of my grail dolls and if I had her I would most definitely tried removing her hair style. And yes, I do know how to reroot doll hair... which is where I learned about directional rooting techniques. But it is very time consuming and I'm too lazy to be bothered so I very rarely do it anymore. 🤣 thanks for coming back to hang with me. I have more videos coming, featuring dolls with updo styles. Perhaps one of my other dolls have similar hair to your j lo and it will give you ideas on how you can tackle her hair.
“Birthstone Beauty” Barbies drive me crazy. They’re beautiful but: kinks, frizzy ends, high foreheads. 😡 I watched Barbination and finally learned the “pulled back front pieces” style you were talking about…..I know what you mean by “Why do I have all these dolls I’m not really attached to?” Trying to figure out selling them is overwhelming. 🤷♀️
@@rachelb2461 yes! The overwhelming feeling is why I procrastinate too. But when I finally get around to listing them, 90% of them sell eventually and I feel so relieved as I ship them off to their new homes.
