I remember hearing about her while in college back in 2023, so I looked her up and she blew my mind! I was an instant fan. Coming into 2024, I knew she would do great things, and it was so wonderful to see her accomplish so much this year. Her talent was nurtured and she made so many sacrifices from the age of 14, and she has already achieved so much by 22. Can't wait to see what is to come. Congrats JuJu!!
Exactly. Saint Lucia is really just getting started when talking about their participation at Olympics and Julien Alfred to leading the charge for the nation. These won't be her last Olympic medals for sure.
To give people some idea of how unlikely it is for a small island like St. Lucia to produce an Olympic Gold Medalist. The island is about 26 miles top to bottom and about 3 miles wide. It has a population of about 180,000. To put this into a little bit more perspective, Hugo Fabrice Zhango won a World Championship Gold Medal for Burkina Faso, also a small country, but Burkina Faso has a population of about 24 million, over a hundred times that of St. Lucia. I'm still amazed by Julien's performance in the 100m. 10.72 is amazing, but in the rain into a slight headwind is crazy and it's only her first year as a pro. It's quite difficult to not have huge expectations of her future.
Great video in the olympic history of the Helen of the West. Its important to note that Julien's results lightyears ahead of the recent rmtrend and now many st lucians have opened their eyes and there will be more to come soon. With the emerging Naomi London, who is now in Texas with coach Flo, hopefully we can have 2 more tag along so we can have a decent 4x100 team next Olympics
As a St Lucian, I am amazed by Julien acolades she's managed to rack up all these titles and medal although this is her first Olympics, there is none who holds so many titles and accolades as her this to me is legendary iconic epic go juju more to come
Hahaha I was trying to tell you I dont have anything against Julien despite what it may seem. She's been one of my favorites literally for years. But always appreciate you and definitely looking forward to see what Julien can do in the future!
@@TheFinalLeg Appreciate the content!! Like you we all looking forward to see what Julien can do in the future. Especially after capturing Female Track athlete of the year!!
You also have to remember that post WW2 migration has had an significant impact considering that athletes like John Regis of Great Britain (200m 1989 world Indoor gold' 1987 WC 200m bronze, 1993 WC 200m silver),Imani Lansiquot (GB 2004 silver 4x100m, 2020 Toyko Bronze 4x100m, 2019 and 2023 4x100m medals) and Perdita Felicien 2003 100mH World Champion are Saint Lucian by descent. Incidentally, all those people have maternal and paternal Saint Lucian heritage - with their parents being born in Saint Lucia - so they don't have external influence lol. John Regis' (and Jennifer Stoute's) daughter runs for GB (Renee Regis - European U23 100m Silver medallist) and Jason Joseph (Swiss 60m 2023 European Champion/2024 Rome 110m Silver medallist) has a Saint Lucian father. So it could've happened earlier if their families stayed in SLU or they as individuals represented SLU. Alfred was the chosen one and I'm very happy for her and Saint Lucia. She is the perfect poster woman not only because of her image but most importantly who she is as a person. Lucky to have met both Lavern and Alfred. Both humble people.
Slight correction: Jamaican gained Independence in 1962, not 1960.
Excellent video sir. I feel like Julien is just going to keep getting better.
Yea this is really just the start for Julien, still extremely young and has so much talent and potential!
Final Leg always comes through in the off-season when we need him the most🔥🔥✊

Thank you for this video repping Julien, St Lucia and the Caribbean. It's wonderful to reflect on how far we've come and we've only just started

The great amount research that he may have done for this video, is the clearest sign of Emerole's passion for Track & Field.
Appreciate that bro! 💯
Female track athlete of the year. Argue with your moms.
Shes very much deserving. Her 2024 was amazing from start to finish
Great video...only 1 correction...Caribbean is spelt incorrectly.
Thanks for catching that and apologies there!
Nice video, big up to Julien Alfred and St Lucia. Polite correction: One R and two BBs in Caribbean.
Appreciate you for the correction! Slight spelling mistake on my part there!
Very good video still
Jamaica is 1962 as well
Mistake on my part there. I got mistaken by them competing at the 1960 Olympics as part of the British West Indies. Appreciate you!
