Klavier's entire story is so underrated ppl just see him as "funny guitar man" and that makes me sad
I know! It's so sad! His story is so interesting, especially for the ways it interacts with Apollo's story! There's parallels!
to be honest, he IS just funny guitar man and that's precisely what i love so much about him. like he's clearly been through so much, if Kristoph's behaviour in turnabout succession is what he was like their entire lives... and he doesn't seem that affected by it past the healthy reaction of feeling extremely betrayed. love that for him tbh, every main prosecutor in the trilogy was a giant ball of trauma, and he's just there like... i'm sexy and i play the guitar, what's up? it's a conscious decision for him to simply not go that deep (as a chronic overthinker i respect the hell out of that) so of course his reception in the fanbase isn't going to be that deep either
(not disagreeing with you tbh, i love good angst about literally anyone and this animatic is absolutely beautiful, just my thoughts about Klav)

Why did 0:26 just send me into tears? He looks like a teenager, like not a toddler, not a 50 year old man, a teenager. Which just sends me into tears. He may be 17 which people think you’ve got your entire future planned at 13, but he’s still a child. A child sends an innocent man to jail, and causes the downfall of a man’s entire career, leaving him without a job and a child. Klav just wanted to make his brother proud, and was manipulated into being the pawn in Kristoph’s sick game.
young klavier looking like an actual kid is something i REALLY appreciate
The frame that gets me the most is the one of young Klavier and Trucy with their eyes scratched out. I am constantly thinking of how similar yet different their situations are - both lost their only family left in a way, but Trucy got Phoenix and stayed in the thick of it whereas Klavier ran away from his doubt and lived on tour for seven years, and though we know he was close friends with Daryan he still clearly couldn't fully trust him or any of the band (look at how suspicious he was of Daryan from the get-go!) They both were used by Kristoph and suspected him but couldn't do anything for seven years, and in that time Trucy grew up to be genuinely happy but Klavier pushed aside any nuance of him possible in favor of the rock star persona and the dedication to a black-and-white truth. And in an interesting way they both went back to their Ace Attorney roots in their next trial appearances; Trucy gave Apollo forged evidence, while Klavier came into court believing his brother and determined to expose another attorney, though he quickly learned better. They're just so interesting to me
The one thing I learnt in Apollo Justice is that you NEVER accept evidence presented to you by Trucy

Edit:: WAIT. IVE WATCHED THIS A FEW MORE TIMES AND NOW IM SAD. You drew 17 year old Klavier looking... Well... 17. He’s very clearly a kid. Being fed lies by his brother that he’s supposed to be able to trust. At first I was like. ‘Aw that’s so cute! They drew him looking more his age’ and then I stopped and really realized what that was showing. I think that’s just. Incredible. That just adds to this.

YEAH that's something i really wanted to touch on!! ive seen ppl draw younger klavier like he's still in his mid twenties and it always bugged me a little bc like. he is very much just a kid :( hes just a teenager who really trusted his bro man.....!!!! thank you SOSOSO much though bc it was def a little difficult trying to draw the same character at two different ages consistently!
I was gonna say the same thing... I think so so much about how Klavier was betrayed by his brother his first year out of high school. How he was four years younger when he got the tip than Phoenix was when Dahlia framed him. And how he was 24 when he lost Kristoph, and Daryan, and then Kristoph again, the same age Phoenix was when he lost Mia, except Klavier didn't have a Maya to grieve with or an Edgeworth to focus on saving, just the dust of two of his strongest and longest relationships and a defense attorney who hopefully didn't hate him. HE WAS SEVENTEEN AND THEN TWENTY-FOUR AND IT KILLS ME
I have watched this no lie at least 15 times in the last three months. It makes me feral how good this is. I love the "It's a scene about me" with pheonix and kristoph. Because they were the puppet masters in all the bullshit. They were fucking with everyone and everything, and when the younger characters start untangling the wires they realize that none of it was about them at all, and they were pawns the whole time
oh FUCK "it's a scene about me" gave me shudders. nails the sudden return of kris. a lot of this nails the tone, really, especially how much kris was orchestrating and how deeply it all affects klavier, esp the feelings of manipulation and learning what he's done - both right after nick is disbarred and when he's looking at the newspaper.
edit: fuckin love the way it slowly shifts from kris manipulating klav to phoenix manipulating apollo/pushing him to facing off kris. so fucking good.

god this hit me so hard. Klav is so strong and handled it all so well so we forget how much pain he's been through... i'm going to have to keep coming back to this, everything is so beautifully drawn that you have to watch it again and again and again to really appreciate it

Hi I know I’ve already commented twice in less than five days but I think this fundamentally changed me in some way. I’ve had the song stuck in my head nonstop since I first watched this but it specifically has the animatic frames flashing along with it. I had a dream with your version of messy haired Klavier in it. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about how young Klavier looked when he was seventeen and how little time seven years is when you’re running from the truth and how it’s also an eternity. The concept of a more maliciously-grinning Kristoph taking pride in his brother’s destruction of Phoenix haunts me. I can’t really explain how rare it is for me to add music to my iTunes but this animatic made me put this song in my library and on nearly every playlist. I’m going insane a little bit but it’s a journey I’m having a blast on

I can't overstate my appreciation for this animatic, it's really fucking well done. It's kinetic in a way that most other animatics aren't, and convey a fantastic visual story that understands its source material *wonderfully*. Phenomenal job on this!
I saw this animatic months ago and ever since then it has become one of my all time favourite pieces of art, I cannot put into words how much this animatic means to me, it's exactly what energy AJ:AA has and I am just so glad someone created something like that, even more so making it so gorgeous to the point that every time I watch it I grin like an idiot

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH, I especially like that you animated how Apollo punched Phoenix for using him and giving him false evidence to convict Kristoph. I completely forgot and had an opinion Apollo was just a nervous wreck the whole game, but that scene shows he's more than just anxious as a person.

It kinda pisses me off how capcom basically didn't include anything about the backstory of Gavin brothers in the game it could have been such interesting part of the story - also the animation is perfect thank you!

you know maybe themis legal academy should've thought more about creating barred lawyers and prosecutors before they were 18 cause it really shows in stuff like this that they're KIDS. they're still kids going through So Much and dealing with the results of their actions (whether caused by others or not).
this is really really good, i'm happy youtube's gotten the right idea in showing tons of cool animatics off cause this is neat!! and the glitchy effect ends up pairing well with the idea of the mason system too!
(also the idea of klavier calling phoenix wright a fucker in a court of law is *really* funny, like it might not be intentional but the open mouth with the line just leads me to think that)
