I was rolling through the mll with my girlfriend a few days ago, and stumbled on a weird little electronic toy shop. It had a lot of power wheels, toy grade rc cars, and in one corner there was a bunch of wltoys stuff. I had never seen or heard of this brand before. After picking one up and looking at it, it looked like it had decent build quality for the price. The guy was asking 220, and I figured I'd look them up for some reviews. Little did I know they were actually even cheaper online. For $150, There's no way this truck can disappoint me. My 124016 v2 gets here tomorrow and I can't wait to bash it.
Had a recent experience where one of the many ‘gool rc’ escs that I’ve ordered had the same issue with cogging, and then take off. 100% a cheap esc problem. Ordered another 60a banggood esc and it fixed the issue. My money is on the ESC for the cogging! Great upload btw; always a good day when you guys release new content
I have one of the 124018 with the brushed motor. Its a reliable ripper with plenty of power for bashing around. I thought about taking it brushless, but after seeing all the cogging issues I'm gonna leave it be.
I think the cogging is due to the receiver/ transmitter. I don’t think it’s a symptom of the brushless system itself. I’m totally confident that if you threw a brushless system in it, you’d be fine…. Seeing as you’d have to replace all the other electronics as well.
Same here I'm happy with the brushed as it's so cheap now the brushless is available ,I got 3 124018s at £78 each with 3 batteries and it's only £65 to make it brushless with a cheap but good kit ...But until mind bust I'm happy brushed with what I'm using them for 👍
i converted my 124018 to brushless recently and it's amazing, i went with a 3650 motor on a stock gearing and it's fine , also the gyro helps a lot , the whole conversion was about 90$
I recently got my wltoys 12401 7 and I put a better transmitter (a dumbo transmitter) and the clogging went away and it went 41 on the road and I think about 25 on grass but there both really cool and on 3s they should go faster
There is 1 major issue I found with all 4 of my WLtoys models. The front tires have way to much wiggle in them. its hard to notice when using them off-road, but it is very noticeable when doing speed runs on the street. I will say this, if it wasnt for the price of their buggies, I would have never gotten back into RC cars/trucks again. I used to run nitro trucks/cars in the late 90's early 2000's.
My favourite is the 124018, when I heard the 124016 was being released I got the brushed in anticipation to start a 1/10 rally cross build with the kamtec CITROEN SAXO body , you know selecting wheels ,making custom body mounts and painting the shell so soon as the brushless came out I'd have the parts ready to swap over , then it got delayed, then I see all the vids of the new ones cogging and in the six months waiting and ripping the 124018 I just haven't had a problem or the need to upgrade so I've bought 3x 124018s now to make into rally cross cars and if I do have to swap out parts eventually then I'll go brushless because a new set of brushless components are cheeper than the price difference of the old and new plus it's parts of my choosing but yeah I love these rigs and what you can do with them, a proper versatile chassis 👍
#brushedmotorsmatter! Nice! Keep in mind though, you’ll have to swap out all the electronics, so you can put any system in there that you want. It doesn’t have to be the one that everyone is complaining about.
I think the ESC is probably fine. Im going to change out the receiver and transmitter in mine. It really only cogs in grass. Ours are fine on road and dirt. In fact, mine launches freakin hard on pavement.
Yeah, you can kinda see it clogging, but that’s gotta be down to the transmitter/ receiver. I mentioned that the throttle is almost like an on/off switch. You’ll definitely get coffin in grass, but on road/ dirt, it’s not a problem…. At least with ours. Is 4mph alone worth the difference? No, but getting a 3 wire servo, as well as a traditional ESC and receiver rather than a combo is totally worth it.
How do you think these compare to the durability of the little hbx's like the 16889 or whatever they call it? I got rid of my wl toys 14blahblah cause I kept breaking it. The Dune buggy one looks pretty legit tho. You guys always rock the vids. Thanks for all you do.👍👍
What’s up dudes, I got the brushed 124018 for my son and the Brushless Tacon Cavalry for me which has a bit of cogwheeling from a standstill but has better electronics than the wltoys. The brushless has a lot more punch and faster acceleration to top speed. I think for bashing all versions of this chassis are fun. Good review👍🏾
4s would be pointless....3s is too much unless your just doing straight lines. A good 10.5 t motor on a decent 2s will push 60 mph easy and still be able to drive it without it flipping all over it self.
I've gr8 both of them. They are fast. But not bashers. The are fragile as fuck and break all the time. You barely tap shit and the suspension is broke.
@@10thScaleGarage I am a big fan of wltoys cars though. You have to use the right car in the right terrain. Other wise anything can happen. Hey parts are cheap and they're easy to fix.
Wltoys making the hobby more accessible to everyone loving it 😍 best value car brand we’ve had in a while

Thanks dude. I appreciate that.
Now there is a wltoys brushless 2.0 versions with 19 tooth pinion and better ESC to deal with cogging
Yup! We’ve got a couple.

Can these motors handle a 3s esc like 60a or maybe even 120a?
I am still waiting on mine.First thing i am doing is putting a radiolink reciever inside with gyro.
Excellent choice.
I have the wl144001,wl124019 and wl124018 . Like the 18 best because of the flip open lid keeps battery in better.
"The Kramer" painting in the back is on point! Where did You Get One!!
i want that red buggy. so i put it on my list in amazon for when i got some extra cash. thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!
They’re pretty cool but I think the brushless needs a bigger can and higher amp esc to give you the throttle control that’s lacking. Cool video 👍🏻🍻
Just change the esc....I use the hw 10bl120 and put the initial start up to 10% no "clogging " the motor is way plenty for these cars.
I think the ESC is probably fine. Im going to change out the receiver and transmitter in mine. It really only cogs in grass. Ours are fine on road and dirt. In fact, mine launches freakin hard on pavement.

Are the diffs still needing to be greased like the older ones right out if the box?
yes
I didn’t grease these, but you probably should.
Not a wltoys fan butt I enjoy your videos y'all know how to have fun thanks for sharing 😉👍
Thanks for watching!! I make Traxxas videos, too. Haha.
@@10thScaleGarage I have a few Traxxas rc's M41 Catamaran, TRX4 1979 K5 blazer black and TRX6 with custom body hahaha 😉👍
Hallo do you grease the differentiaal greetings
Yes.
How do you guys find the 104009 ? Which is really a 12.
Is it still an esc reciever combo on brushless?
Nope! You get a separate receiver and ESC.
Yes definitely the best budget rc ever
The question is… can you find parts easily ???
Largest hobby line in the world. The answer is absolutely yes.
Have a good week

Hbx Firebolt the 901a 🤷 Maybe a good comparison for the dune buggy?
Driveshafts are the weak point, but they’re cheap and you can get them pretty easily.
Put the blue one on 3s and you can get a easy 50mph out of it
Hi, nice review, a v1 or V2?
V2 I believe.
@@10thScaleGarage Yes the v2 has a 4300kv with a 19 tooth. My brushed ones I converted to 4300kv and 19 tooth and run great.
Cool little rippers!👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾
Fo show.
Cool RCs and great runs

I love the color
They look gooooood

got a 124018 for 77$ .. i count that a steal !!!
Where?
@@HereDirtyDuck from alliexpress , there was a sale and i had a coupon , they are around 95$ at the moment.
That’s my experience with the cheap electronics there’s no resolution it’s all on or off with brushless
I think the rx/tx are the weakest part of the whole package.
Good evening brother great video nice cars
V2 version
Nice video
Nice track
I like them
👍👍👍👍
Try xhilehong 9135
U mean 9125?
The 124017 will go fast if you put a 3S Lipo battery in it

Needs 4s LOL MOR POWA BABY!

There’s a guy that did over 100mph on 4S with his 144001…. The batteries were wider that the chassis. Haha.
Interesting point of view here. On paper these cars seem competitive, but their chassis is poor and can’t compete with high end off-road cars.
I don’t think they’re meant to.
1. 🤔
