I’m going to do this in late August, 2024! It will be my 3rd time to Rome, so excited to do something a bit different for 1/2 a day! Thanks for sharing!
Sure! That was in 2024 and I am working on a new one I did just last week. Have you seen the hike down Via Appia Antica?th-cam.com/video/_pbRTIJkg9o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DeQelR0zqe-JKlF6
So glad I found this!! Thank you! We are going next week to Rome and my husband asked today if he can go to the Appian Way. It looked complicated on the map, so I vetoed it. But your video encouraged me to try and do it. We can easy bike, and Ebikes will be awesome. I see below you said easy bike rental near circus maximus. So I shall try that. Thank you!
I rent the bikes at Circus Maximus at a place called easy bike rental Roma. The whole way to via is a bike path and the bike rentals can give you a GPS link to guide you so you don’t get lost the ride is very easy. There may be additional rental Places
I use a place called Easy Bike Rental Roma located at Circus Maximus. I think with GPS you can do it by yourself but with a guide it may be less stressful?
We typically stay in AirBnb's, some are better than others but the area is always nice. We did stay at one hotel called Hotel Campo dei Fiori that was very nice.
Hi! I would love to do this bike ride but I'm having a hard time trying to figure out a safe route to go by. Is there a pretty obvious trail to follow once you get there or do you need to map it out?
Did you reserve your ebike with them in advance or could you walk up day off and get one? Also, you said in the video, they gave you a map? It was easy to follow? Any traffic with cars? Cheers!
You can reserve but they have lots of bikes & have always just showed up. If it is peak season on a Saturday to be safe you may want to call them. They speak english good. Sorry the map is on Smart Phone (Kamoot) and it is free and works great. They will email you the link while at the store
@@RozierRoma Thanks so much for your quick reply! What about traffic and cobblestones? I am reading several, recent, horror stories of this not being safe because of crazy traffic and the cobblestones are really bad.
90% plus of the ride is on dedicated bike paths. There are a few places that you have to cross a street just as you are entering via Apia Antica otherwise almost no traffic to deal with. If you know how to ride a bike, I don’t think it’s a problem but it’s probably not a place to learn to ride a bike.
Yes Rome does have bike and e scooter share service that is great for short rides. We rented at easy bike rental roma next to Circus Maximas .as the bikes are better for longer distances. They cost around 20 euros for 4 hours and not too much more for 24 hours
We will… my wife loves to bike around all the cites we visit! Thank you for the awesome vid! Will you still be in Rome in Aug/ Sept this year? We would love to meet you!
From Circus Maximus it is about 3 miles to the start of Appian Antica and it runs out 10 to 20 miles then fragments continue further but not sure how far. Aqueduct park is very close to Appia Antica, maybe 2 miles away. The total ride we did was about 17 miles but seemed much shorter but that was according to GPS. It is a GREAT ride and I do not even like riding bikes all that nuch.
Actual riding is about one and a half hours at a moderate pace the extra 2 1/2 hours is for enjoying, taking pictures. That is round-trip. They have a four hour bike rate but if you come in the afternoon around 2 PM you can ask them and they will often give you, the bikes for the four hour rate and let you have them all the way until they close close to 7 PM

in the video I use an app called Kamoot and there is a link to the rout. It is 90% bike trails and paths. Best ride ever have a great time
@@RozierRomaWas the app and route provided by the rental shop? Looking to do this, but I get very flustered navigating large cities!
Thanks
If you get a chance taking an e-bike down via Apia and Tika and the Roman aqueduct is a really fun experience
We have a 3.5 y/o child. Does the E-bikes have portable seats for small kids that cant ride a bike yet? Are they renting seats for kids?
The place I rent bikes at is Easy Bike Rent Roma and they have child seats. You can look them up and contact them. they speak english well.
Did you reserve your ebike with them in advance or could you walk up day off and get one? Also, you said in the video, they gave you a map? It was easy to follow? Any traffic with cars? Cheers!

Yes, they are open. Sundays In fact Sundays is the busiest day for bike rides along via appia what antica and aqueduct park. .

Very good bike shop at Circus Maximus called Easy Bike Rental Roma

Will you still be in Rome in Aug/ Sept this year? We would love to meet you!
We will be gone in July and August then returning to Rome in September. We would love to get together if you are still in Rome then.
Fantastic! Loved seeing this. So historic. I saw some aqueducts, but how far is the park from Rome? Also how many miles is the Appian Way?
