I actually had not seen an adaptation for Dudley yet, and this was great! Very dark though, who knew The Fat Controller would actually put an engine in danger of scrap?!
The addition of Alone and Forsaken at the end was a really nice touch. It honestly made the scene more deep. Especially with Dudley's last words before leaving

Real Life Info About The Real 63971 Dudley: It was built in 1942 numbered 3841 and in 1946 it was renumbered 3971 before becoming 63971 when British Railways was formed in 1948. It was withdrawn in 1962 and scrapped in 1963, even though this would be set in 1967. Maybe Dudley in these stories here would’ve been kept in service a bit longer past the early 60s (possibly in Departmental Stock) or knowing him, he could’ve easily gotten out of scrapping and did plenty of wandering around for some years while hiding and causing some schemes.
Guess he went into departmental stock, though I feel like he would have been renumbered. I guess he could be preserved at a museum or heritage railway somewhere on the Mainland, but whatever happened to Dudley is up to anyone’s interpretation.
@joshuaW5621 I wish this was the case but unfortunately, the author of Dudley's story confirmed that he was scrapped. In the story "Demons" you see Dudley, already scrapped. I wish they had done more with him but him being scrapped just means he's finished, not much more can be done with him.
Dudley makes Devious Diesel and Diesel 10 look like nothing And I cannot believe that Gordon and James were so STUPID that they didn't learn their lesson with Diesel
@@rainierbagatsing1073 I agree with both sides. On one hand he disobeyed the speed restriction and then later lied about it, but saved his passengers in the process by speeding up more in the nick of time. On the other, had he been following the reduced speed the entire time he most certainly would've been there long after the landslide occurred. The only way it could've gone worse is if he HAD followed the restriction and still crashed into it because he didn't see it in time or slipped when he tried to stop. Personally I think he was screwed either way, but he more than deserved it for his deplorable behavior. Still, I think there's room for a redemption arc at some point. If someone like Diesel or Diesel10 can be redeemed, anyone can.
I swear, Dudley has to be the most punchable Thomas fan characters I’ve ever seen… and I love it! His motivations are made very clear. Since he’s had bad experiences with Diesels on the mainland, he assumes they’re all mad and wants to get their scent packing purely because he’s a Diesel. Ironically reflects how diesel treated duck, but I would honestly say Dudley is worse than Diesel. Sure what diesel did was horrid, but at least you could say Duck played a trick on him first. Bear did nothing to Dudley but try to be helpful, but deadly believes everything he does to Barry’s justified simply because he’s a diesel engine. It makes his eventual comeuppance all the more satisfying.
Love the episode, love what you did here. After showing up, Oliver being spoked by a mysterious engine from the shadows Chase him out. Asking sir Topham Hatt the history of the scrapyard. This could explain why the scrapyard exists, why the engines have the issues they have and maybe secretly introduce diesel 10 in the shadows. The episode can be right after the escape episode.
Never liked Dudley as a character. it's still good to see a steamer as a villain instead of a diesel for once. I wouldn't really feel sorry for him if he was scrapped, not gonna lie.
