I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. I've loved Nina since I was a teenager - I'll be 71 next month, and to stumble upon this rare recording is like a sweet dream. For others who love Nina, if you haven't yet heard her covers of Dylan you're in for a delightful discovery. Her soulful and unique phrasing are absolutely wonderful.

Every time I am having a rough time Rn the last 2 years with isolation I come accross a gem that helps me get through the nights and this time I found this recording.
I dig the way she plays piano also; she had a mastery and command of the instrument that is often not mentioned and overlooked...and thank you Mr. Aaron Overfield, for posting this rare video-and performance by Miss Nina Simone! She threw down also, in another rare and almost forgotten performance, in 1969, in Harlem NYC, in what has since come to be regarded as the "Summer Of Soul"; it's available on DVD, for those of you who are interested-and has performances also by some of the great soul and Jazz artists of the day! 4-23 and 29-23.
I'm such a Nina Simone Fan I develop more of an appreciate not just for her music but the she spend on this earth and the gift she left behind. This video especially the last song WOW. I just feel she's not given all her roses
I would LOVE to hear her play classical piano! She was such a unique talent because she was able to create an ethereal, weightless sound that seemed to come from nowhere, yet everywhere at the same time. She was genius.
Watching this Video in 2020 She was so talented her music calms me during this time of racial unrest in the USA with national guards in our cities and the treats of military action RIP Nina
I just knew from the very first I discovered Nina Simone.. She is the best.. The most amazing art.. She's vain.. But I like it.. She seems like a human.. Not like other people who sings Jazz. I'm just in love.. In love with her.. I could just sit all day and Listening to her and smiles.. Oh my god.. This is just amazing..
Just for general knowledge, the last song isn't completely improvised. She sings in hebrew the song "Eretz Zavat Halav u'Dvash", Land of Milk and Honey. What a moving performance, thank you for the upload.
+Bo Bo The DVD of this material is available on Netflix and Amazon as “Nina Simone: Live” (2004/2005). A partial track list is available from Netflix: Match it up to reality as needed. Tunes include "Sunday in Savannah," "I'll Look Around," "When I Was in My Prime," "For All We Know," "Strawberry Woman," "Crab Man," "I Loves You, Porgy," and "Zungo," a Nigerian chain-gang song Simone learned from renowned drummer Babatunde Olatunji.
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being over whelmed by the tribe...." 'Fredrick Nietzeche' I love this lady and she is a lady for all of time !
Ms Simone, you were gone way too soon before your time, loved your music and versatility on the piano, I'm so sorry you never achieved your dream of being a concert pianist because of a racist American society when you were a young woman
This performance is truly a love letter for the 60's. Truly ahead of her time. She was a vessel of what a dream can be. Thank you Nina!

Damn, she could make you cry just looking at her sing from her soul. I'm overcome.
One of the most misunderstood and one the most influential artists of her time. She gives me a feeling only she can recreate
What a fantastic pianist!! And depth of soul no words can adequately how deep the feeling goes......
She sang & played with feelings of sadnees & was an outstanding star in the history of music.

I’ve searched everywhere to find her playing classical piano - what a shame there is none 😢 I would listen to it day and night!
The closest I got to Nina playing classical is her recording of Love Me or Leave me.

Wow
“Nina Simone has always been hard to classify” is right. Transcendent might be an appropriate term to use. Or just listen and don’t label, right?
Just for general knowledge, the last song isn't completely improvised. She sings in hebrew the song "Eretz Zavat Halav u'Dvash", Land of Milk and Honey.
What a moving performance, thank you for the upload.
So fine!
Very special vintage wine 🍷

Nina Simone was not a very good singer! Very overrated!
GeoCoppens you wouldn't have said that
@@wellingtonjesuorobo9872 Well, I did and it's true!
Technically not the best singer but with a lot of feeling though. Very pleasant to listen to in my opinion.

GeoCoppens Her music is more than just her voice. If you want smooth vocals and wide range then listen to Ella Fitzgerald.
