Sarah, and Ella were the two best female jazz singers ever. Their were others that were great too, but for my taste it was those two. Hope they are in heaven singing.
Which one of the 2 I love the most depends on who I'm listening to at the moment. Then there's Billie and that's a whole other emotion altogether. But a listening session of Ella and Sarah and I'm just floating on a cloud.
In a sentimental mood I can see the stars come through my room While your loving attitude Is like a flame that lights the gloom On the wings of every kiss Drifts a melody so strange and sweet In this sentimental bliss You make my paradise complete Rose petals seem to fall It's all I could dream to call you mine My heart's a lighter thing Since you made this night a thing divine In a sentimental mood I'm within a world so heavenly For I never dreamt that you'd be loving sentimental me

That was exquisite. In every sense of the word. I've loved her tone from the very first time I was blessed to hear it. Sarah Vaughan will always be one of my all time top favorites. She is truly Divine 🎶💚🥰
This ♥️.... To my childhood. My granny and her brothers and sisters on a Sunday evening playing cards while the children were being children. Hearing the vinyl clicking on the stereo.. I have become my grandparents
Won the Apollo talent Show as everyone knows, but could have sung at the Met..Exquisite tone, range, no quaver like some big open stars have had.. Her "You're Mine You" is untouchable by anyone else and seems little known, masterful
I like watching her sing . I like listening to her while she sings . Very pretty and cool . I don't know the music much of that time but she really is incredible.

April 30, 1935 The original version by Duke Ellington. There is no earlier recording. Why should Sassy's recording of MFT remind us of John Coltrane, Julie Andrews or anyone else?

Superb song, the great singer, sympathetic and talented backing musicians, themselves artists. Sarah can move one to merely try compliments, actually quite professional comment, for, no-one sang better or more sweetly, and, I take in Gigli and Bjoerling, Caruso, Callas, Billie, Ella, Bessie, Mel, Frank, you line them up and who was better, though it is so silly to number and guess, for we love them all, need them and you name your loves and you are quite correct in your dear love. Sarah remains an instrument of fate.

Her remarkable sense of pitch on full display here. It’s a tricky melody and no piano. Quite an amazing performance!
Best EVER!!!
Yes it is amazing. But the harmonies are still in the guitar ;)
Agreed...
Ethereal!
She sings in such a way, that there are no words to describe it.. I can only say her voice goes straight to my heart... ❤️

@@hypatiahawks1740 Google yields results. Though if you're in LA, there's a section where people sell vintage vinyl at the Pasadena flea market.

Heartmelting 🥰👋🏴
Much imitated, but unmatched. One of a kind still.
What didn't I know 25 years ago that made me dislike Sarah Vaughn? Thank God for getting older!
Same.
Do you think there will ever be another voice like hers ??
Sadly, no...
Good news!! There is a young lady namely Samara Joy. Definitely not Sarah, but has listened and sounds very much like her in the low register.

I am not familiar with Ms. Vaughn. I can hear how voice has influenced many in this song. Wow.
Pena essa voz maravilhosa não existir mais
Fantastisch !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....
Uma rainha...!!
I cannot decide which version is better, Ella Fitzgerald or Sarah Vaughan.
Wow. Just wow.

Best jazz Singer ever. Very sofisticate. I would say then better Ella Fitzgerald.

Sounds like Barney Kessel…..whoops! I was wrong- it was Mundell Lowe.
Wow
I can't wait until my nightmare of neighbors gets the fuck out so I can blast my music.
