    I am not rated 2700 but I think I can tell that those bishops move back and forth in the beginning wasn't to good.

    • @AKhoja
      @AKhoja 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      If you're talking about 0:53, then you're wrong about that. The back and forth movement from black's bishop is standard theory and considered one of the best moves in the position, as it puts the enemy bishop off its best square and forces white to waste a tempo and hang his knight to move it again. I have seen a lot of Grandmaster games with this bishop check.

    • @abdullahalmuhit6921
      @abdullahalmuhit6921 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Core Driller totally agree.the idea is that the bishop is better on b2then d2 so it's not a waste of tempo and it's standard theory

  • @Fluid-combo
    @Fluid-combo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I really love when the opponent is man (or woman) enough to let the game end with checkmate. I hate when you are one move away from checkmate and they resign the game. it's like, should have resigned on move 2 if you were planning on resigning if you lost.

    • @miroslavjanecek9993
      @miroslavjanecek9993 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fluid-combo In chess playing dead lost position can be viewed as a disrespect to your opponent... And also it's waste of time.

  • @MasterChief0522
    @MasterChief0522 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm new to chess, so I don't know all the ins and outs of the game's strategy, but at 6:35, but why not take white's rook with black rook, allow black rook to be captured by white queen, and then take white queen with black king?

    • @havingyarr
      @havingyarr 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MasterChief0522
      The white bishop is also attacking that square. Once the queen captures the black rook that is checkmate.

    • @bleach4038
      @bleach4038 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      the white queen cannot be captured because that square is also defended by the bishop.

    e6 isn't winning a tempo if it makes black move the knight to a great square.

    • @fscii71
      @fscii71 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      PhilomathBret normally that would be true but looks like Aronians goal was the pawn guarding the kings escape square f7 and he had enough power to deal with the knight.

    I realise it is subjective, but is this really crushing? Down material most of the game, may be better described as tactically very good, but crushing?!

    • @AKhoja
      @AKhoja 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      For Grandmasters, yes, this is absolutely crushing. The tactics might not be obvious, but they are nearly irrefutable. Sacking material for a checkmating attack is indeed crushing: either you checkmate the enemy king (and it's perfectly fine to be down material when delivering checkmate imo), or the enemy has to give back all the sacked material and be down themselves with no compensation.

    • @joedorben3504
      @joedorben3504 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Core Driller Unless your sacrifice(s) are incorrect, then it is you who will be crushed, either way its still crushing lol
