@@CasusUniversum Thanks for the feedback. No worries. We won't be adding music. Unfortunately, we also won't be able to use the same narrator but we are enjoying the narration process. This is such a great story!
The narrator was excellent, it makes a huge difference. One of the best narrators I have heard. Well done. Loved the book but all down to your narration. 👍👍👍👍👍
I enjoyed the readers voice and for someone who has not read this book before I think they will find it enjoyable. Sadly, because it has been edited so much the heart and soul of this amazing book has been lost. Read the original, you will not be sorry. Timshel.
When you fall in love with the original it's hard to listen to anything else. We totally get that! Same thing goes with a book that has been turned into a movie. They are nvr as good as the book. Happy Listening and thanks for contributing!
I was wondering!!! I was thinking about how it felt like bits were missing from the last time I read it lol I’ve been listening to this as I work and was surprised by how short the run time was. Def wasn’t shocked when I saw it was edited. Other then that I thought it was a good listen, but def was missing so much heart and soul that comes from such a classic novel
Please put in the description that this is abridged. I was not aware when I started listening and now feel frustrated as it was my first time reading this story and I feel it is spoiled for when I read the original version. Otherwise, the audiobook itself was good.
Don't think it will spoil the full version for you. I've read it twice in my lifetime and have seen the movie three times. Just started listening to the full audio version after reading that this was an abridged version. It's such a rich poetic work, I don't think knowing the plot will spoil anything. The full audio is almost 24 hours and may be available on the Libby app from your public library. It is from mine.
This will be an unpopular opinion based on this comments section. But I really appreciate the abridged version. That's not a shot at the author, or anyone else. I admire the value in reading for enjoyment and pouring over every word, keeping some lines with you as you carry on throughout your life, etc. But for some who can't afford the money or the time to get a copy of classic literature and work through it over the course of a few days, this is a nice alternative - offering a streamlined pass through the meat of a story in order to give the listener a general grip on the book's themes, subject matter, and plot points. It's a handy thing to have access to on a random weeknight. For what it's worth, I don't disagree that a fuller version of this book is obviously going to be much more impactful. I may return to East of Eden, one day, to experience it in its full glory.
❤❤❤ Thank you. Great book. Author of novel has left massage to a readers. To have an ambition is wonderful, but without help of Holy Spirit they loose own life.
While the reader is clear and expressive, this version of the book seemed so prosaic that I, with no foreknowledge of this book, went looking for a different reading of it. I found it and was rewarded with the rich, flowing prose that made Steinbeck famous. I'm sorry, but what's the point of rewriting a great novel? Write your own novel instead.
I feel terrible after hearing this! Because it’s abridged! Many beautiful parts of the book are cut in this version!now that I’m readi these pages I always curse this video for spoiling it!
It’s the story of Cain and Abel and the main theme is absolutely about sibling rivalry, there are layers. Don’t let woke people miseducate you. It’s the classic struggle between good and evil.
The synopsis is in error. It’s not sibling rivalry; it’s the cruel patriarch who warps this family. It’s about an evil father … and possibly a cruel Old Testament God! Shocking cruelty.
So if you are still working on the full audiobook the title for this one is misleading, In simple words you're a liar If you have been lying once well you could lie twice. Right?
For those who have asked...we are currently working on narrating the FULL unabridged version of this story and will be posting it soon 😃
Love what you guys are doing and I really like the narrator. Please don't put that goofy chapter change music though. It's totally out of place
Yes! It's awful! And why???? It's not a read-along book for six year olds 😬 it ruins what is actually quite a good reading!

I read it years ago but emjoyed it so much this tome around. Brilliantly narrated. Thank you.

Goes to show what a good editor can do ?? :-)
Agreed! Some of the best paragraphs are entirely removed! For example “to a monster the norm seems monstrous since everyone is normal to himself”

This comment section taught me what an abridged version is.
i had thought MAN, it took me A LONG TIME to read this book.

Also, will add, that the readers absolutely crushed this. Very clear and dynamic speech at a perfect pace.
Your not in a movie bro 😭

Marvellous!
Need desperately the unabridged version.
We couldn't agree more! We are always on the lookout
One of the best narrations of an Irish accent!...very few get it right.
Good story I was surprised! Thank you for sharing
So glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderdully read, inticing story. Thank you!!!
Thanks for your brilliant narration. 😊
EPIC IN SCOPE & MEANING

Great job. You've done an amazing book justice.
This where my mom found my name, but my name comes from a much older book by Matthew Prior. Great book.
This is a good book. Enjoyed it in high school.
EAST OF EDEN is 700 pages. This is advertised is a FULL audiobook. It is not. Do not shortchange yourself!
plus they changed the last words
Excellent.

Kate has very deep PTSD. You can't save people like she at that time.
a praise (good voice / characters ) and a suggestion (remove that annoying bumper jingle between chapters) ...
What are those chapter breaks?😂

RE-TOLD?
Why?
