The Rad Report is my all-encompassing, multi-modal exploration of “rad” (80-99) cars. It started as a way to turn obsessive Craigslist scrolling into creative output; consumption into creation.
Eventually, I realized there were two kinds of followers: quip-fans and deal-hunters. So for the hunters, I created a Patreon which provides access to a curated feed of cars, about 25 a day. All manuals, all rad. This allowed Instagram to remain an autodidactical caption contest.
Over the 18 months of the Rad Report’s existence, there have been many suggestions of monetization. “You should start a BaT competitor” being the most popular. That is deeply uninteresting to me, however, if someone wants to make such a thing I’d be happy to provide editorial content :)
Presentation fascinates me as much as cars do. The combination of these interests happens in the selling of a mostly forgotten and definitely not “collectible” car. In the framing of a forgotten thing so the beauty might be (re)discovered.

This is a perfect example of what we always hope to find when we go buy a Rad car. It rarely turns out to be reality. Good buy and a great overview.
I got mine for free from a cool 78-year-old guy. Its a blue 86 Toyota van wagon LE with 90,000 original miles.
I love the look and purposeful design of old Toyota’s. The gold/maroon/beige color combination interior gives it a luxurious aesthetic...almost like something I’d want to see on a Cressida of the time.

My parents had this van when I was a kid. The seat got real hot one day when my Mom was driving it home. She jumped out parked in the yard and it burst into flames.

Aaron- great videos. This gives depth to RR that the (admittedly brilliant) rapid-fire links could not. I also appreciate your thoughts on why this era of vehicles isn’t necessarily a nostalgia movement- I agree, though perhaps for different reasons. I’m very excited to see how far you take this.
As for the van in question, great buy. I went for a wagon for my 3-row purchase, but I totally get why that van appeals to people. I can’t wait to see you make it perfect.

You talked about turning the seats around for party mode. I could be mistaken but the version of this van with rear captains chairs might of been able to swivel to face the backseat.
