    Tacks unlocked for me thanks to your tutorial ! Pushing the wing was the missing piece of my tacking puzzle. Thanks a lot ! 🙌🙌

    No doubt for me that it's the best tack tutorial that I 've seen on TH-cam in English and in French.

    I also find it easier when WingFoil Tacking to go from Palm Down Front Grip to Palm Down Palm Front Grip as shown in your video. Great Tutorial, Thanks for Posting!

      Nice, I actually heard that before! I come from kitesurfing and this feels more natural but that way works as good, and for some even better! :)

    Happy to have discovered your video's ! There are so many video's out there that either blow the techniques up to rocket science with 1.000 things to keep in mind (which wont work :-) ) or alternatively shoot some zoomed out blurry shots of someone doing "something" on the water. Here explanation and video demonstration are spot on ! thx a lot !

    @annelous This is one of the best videos I've seen for tacking. I came to the same conclusions as I developed my easiest technique. I would add that releasing the wing up overhead tends to initiate the turn upwind, which is great because as you say you don't want to turn up into the wind with any power in your wing. I would also stress to shift your eyes to the upwind horizon as start the tack and keep your primary awareness on the foil to carve hard enough into the wind to bring the board back underneath and downwind of you in the new direction before you power up your wing.

    Calling out to send the wing overhead before turning board Into wind is key, and very few people call this out. Well done.

    Great tutorial. I've now cracked tacking both ways because of 3 key things you said. - pushing the strut away, throwing the wing early and learning on the preferred stance. This the key and no other videos mention pushing the strut away from you.

    • @wingcoachdavid
      @wingcoachdavid ปีที่แล้ว

      Some others do mention pushing the strut away. Just not explicitly stating and showing both hands staying on the handles until horizontal. But I agree this is the best tack video so far (Jan 2023).

    Really good piece of info to get wing neutral before steering board into the wind. I've not been able to quite figure this out but think it's the key. Good video... Many thanks!

    Yeah your last tip really is the missing piece in my tacks. Especially today when being overpowered, I couldn't get my wing to the other side......the reason as you explained. It should be more above my head. I put it more behind me and get it above me when I'm halfway. That's the thing to change. Thanks 👍

      @AnnelousLammerts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AnnelousLammerts heelside tacking works good now, both sides. That's great! Toeside works fine but not with one wingsize my 5.2. Smaller wings it works also fine but the 5.2 (Ensis) is really hard to get above you. Like it is not depowered and you have to hang in there.......which results in falling. So, I have to figure out how to get it smoothly above me. I heard more people have this problem with the Ensis.

    • @AnnelousLammerts
      @AnnelousLammerts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey @@bart-heinmolenkamp9267, awesome, you’re killing it! Having a wing that easily hovers helps a lot. That was really a focus point for our new wings, as well as improving the balance which also helps with that. It’s still such a new sport and improving the big sizes wings makes wingfoiling a lot more fun in light wind :)

    @Annelous Thanks for the tips, I might be missing the tip for "wait to turn until wing is in neutral". I'm going to try it today. My biggest problem is feeling the backward drag on the wing which slows me down. Even on the beach practicing with just the wing I felt a lot of drag. This was with my 5m in about 20-25 kts. I'll try with the 4m today to see if it helps. I am currently on a 1300cm foil

    • @davidgaiakano9747
      @davidgaiakano9747 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend using the smallest wing that you can that allows you to have good speed. Ideally your set up makes it easy to go faster than the true wind and take that speed into the turn. Have fun!

    one point of improvement for your vid is about the sound quality.. for me the sound of the wind and waves are too loud to hear your explanation clearly, maybe if gets better with a small microphone. (But it can also be only my prob.. I’m hard hearing..🤗)
