"I notice that several people are..." is great - appreciate that tip! I do always worry about missing the ones who are doing the right thing. That's why I find ClassDojo problematic - not to mention, I often don't remember the quiet kids' names! I'm going to look at your positive behavior vid next. :)

Acknowledging and keeping those kids who are helpful and well behaved on your side is key. If you reinforce the good in your class the number of kids who are helpful and kind grows. It really pays off. 🙂 Thanks for watching!

I’m going from high school to elementary. Wow! There is so much to remember and be consistent with. I’m ADD…. I hope I can do it! I’m terrified!!!!

It is a lot but it gets easier! Make yourself lists and/or slides to remember things. If you break it down with visual reminders it will help you and the students. You will find over time what works best for you. Have a great school year! Thank you so much for watching!

Such an important often overlooked topic that needs to be looked at more closely! Thank you so much for these tips and procedures!

Another well done video, Katie! I love the “Brush Hot Tub” idea, and the general “I notice”statements rather than calling individual names. Also the “show me” comments are giving the student a chance to “figure out on their own” where things should go. I just completed CLRT training in validating and affirming students in the classroom; your language reminds me of the same ideas. I wonder why not mention “clean up locations” after the ringing bell so it is fresh in their minds, though??

Yes! Thank you! I use the bell to end my clean up and when we begin reflecting on the clean up. I do talk about the cleanup locations at that time but it is the very end of class. I’m not sure if that answers your question?

I was referring to how you had stated you show pictures of where to put things for cleanup at the beginning of class. I just meant I thought it would make more sense after you rang the bell

in this video, you mention "art shirts" - - do you show these in any of your videos? curious as to what type of shirt they are and how you manage-?

I don’t think they are shown in any videos bc they are spirit wear misprints from a previous school 🤣 They are rainbows tie dye t shirts. They are in a bin under one of my sinks. The little kids line up on my floor number decals and take a shirt.
