True but it's also disorienting, you are fighting your opp and yourself, you can also give your opp ideas that will blow you up as well. You also cannot abuse something you already know what the weakness to it is, cause your opp knows it too.
@azteckjumbie9344 Perhaps it's different for others. I main Lee with Bryan as my pocket. Most players who use them are crazy good with fundies and have a nice solid foundation with so little bs I never feel, see or experience it ever. Cause the CH were earned and the step launches were intentional/active gameplay. So to me he makes sense. Might not be the same for others.
Yoshimitsu's attack damage should really be multiplied by how much health he gains back. He can be on a pixel and just about get half of it back with a decent combo in heat 😊
The Kane vs Sajawal match showcases very well how to deal with plenty of Yoshi's BS, even considering that both players missed some very key interactions. Chasing down and launching spin, staying patient yet vigilant after a broken 2 throw, using unsafe moves that Yoshi can't punish on block, disrespecting the fake DGF transitions etc. The knowledge checks are plenty, and the character is very strong, but there is a lot of counterplay to make our lives easier and reduce the mental stack. Yoshi players are mostly carried due to their opponents' laziness - hit the lab amigos.
I feel like something is very wrong with Tekken 8 matches and I can't seem to put it into words. And it's pulling me back to Tekken 7 just so I figured out what it is.
mirror matches are my favorite. i knowledge check my enemy and copy their moves. if they show me something new, i use it against them right away, in a sense i let them beat themselves.
More people are starting to realize that Yoshi needs that nerf hammer. The flash forces you to play completely different in this game all about aggression. It's the perfect defence tool.
Watching and analyzing every match of the ewc and then picking which matches to cover and then re analyzing them while recording yourself seems so tiring. But thanks for doing it phi, its really valuable. (At least to me) I just hope you don't burn yourself out or think the tournament is too outdated by the time you reach the matches you really wanted to cover from the later stages.
I’m a Lars player I love and hate mirror matches like it’s a lighting mix up battle where we steal combos from each other but man when they do something better than I did I get salty asf
Can you make some type of in-depth video on the current state of Yoshi? I hear a lot of complaints on Twitter especially about spin and other panic tools and would love to hear your take on everything
I always look forward to your videos Phi. Your commentary reminds me of the times I'd watch Aris banter over T7 tourneys minus shittalking rednames. Keep it up! You should shittalk rednames more.
I'm not on board with what you say about Yoshi: the specific moves you highlighted as overtuned were as they are now in T7 without anyone complaining. BB1+4B which is the "mixup" you say should be the identity of this goofy ass character is a pretty lousy knowledge check which I literally saw exactly once in a competitive environment, where it got immediately beaten, and almost never online. If that kind of moves is supposed to be the character's identity they should be buffed HARD to become usable, otherwise let's just say "Yoshi needs to obliterate noobs and do jack against anyone else, that's his identity." No thanks, I'd like to play the game like everyone does. Imo Yoshi's identity as some kind of defensive monolith that just chills for the round until he manages to go through your pressure once is perfectly fine, the combo damage (which is slightly above average for T8 and 5-10 points above T7) is needed to compete against characters which earn theirs through pressure and mixes.
Been a long time coming but I think we can officially put yoshi right next to drag now lol (also those wall situations just happen all the time to victor, his tracking is terrible lol)
tbf yoshi is strong right now, very strong even (personally think it's the strongest he's been in a tekken game by a mile) but everyone's having a knee jerk reaction to it because they're used to a weak yoshimitsu compared to what we have in 8. Personally i think if you nerf yoshi damage a litte, but only a little he becomes a perfectly fine character. Problem is most of the people complaining about yoshi want the character's identity to be removed from the game
@@jordanwalker3617 people hates learn a forgoten character, the same was with a good lei, PDHIDX has the perfect description for yoshi, check mini situations. yoshi has bad frames. the most of people is scared of him because they never opened frame data ... or went to the replay system. this tekken has a problem with the cry on social media, you learn how to deal with bullshit or cry nerfing somenthing. the damage on yoshi is high but fair, I mean bryan can kill you from a launcher and half
@@jdgreed2805 yeah i agree with you on pretty much everything here. It's essentially my first tekken game and i chose to play yoshimitsu and i'm currently in raijin and late purple ranks and blue ranks is what showed me how damaging his weaknesses like bad frames and a horrible sidestep are to him. i do still think his damage is a little high considering all of the wacky stuff a yoshimitsu can do to mix you but i don't think it's anywhere near as much as a problem as other characters currently are, namely, dragunov, feng, nina, alisa and even jin to some extent.
Yep It's still there, and still only when you're laying face up feet towards. Many oki set ups will avoid having the opp in that ground position since that one has the most wake up options
okay, nerf yoshi but give us the unlockables again, t8 makes even more moves of yoshi usless, qcf2 is punishable and risky, only use on try to counter f3 is uslesss, idk es weird. btw I got fujin with jack with only a couple of weeks playing a little bit and he has stupid mixups too and a disgusting oki
Nice video overall as usual but the Yoshi misinformation is excessive. It seems to be the hip trend now to say what you want about Yoshi without caring about accuracy.
Yoshi should lose health constantly whenever his sword is out and whenever he uses a sword move. Either that or his damage needs to be drastically nerfed.
Damage needs to be nerfed a little, not drastically, over half the cast can easily do 100+ resources, yoshi doing that still needs to use some resources, other characters don't. Fed up of people trying to basically delete yoshimitsu from the game while we're still getting tourneys with at least 4 of the top 8 being dragunov players... not even trying to say yoshi is weak because this is literally the strongest he's ever been but if we get anything like the nerfs the community are suggesting then the character will be useless, people are blind to the weaknesses and problems that he does have and instead want to remove the characters identity
In a mirror match, noone can cry over 'the character carrying the player'. It's only your own skills.
True but it's also disorienting, you are fighting your opp and yourself, you can also give your opp ideas that will blow you up as well. You also cannot abuse something you already know what the weakness to it is, cause your opp knows it too.
You forgetting this is the FGC?! Ppl will say BOTH getting carried hahahaa
That makes Zero sense..It's literally who can get off the bs 1st
