I don't know if a lot of people on here realize that Canada and the US are allies and share a lot of military resources; NORAD being one they mentioned in this video. Mike Hunt in the comments mentioned that Canada sits back while the US does all these cool things in space... The Canadian Arm revolutionized the International Space station, and Canada is a huge contributor to NASA... Being patriotic towards your Country is an awesome thing, but don't forget countries like Canada play a big part in the support of your way of life and freedom.
For those mocking Canada and us not building jets...may I remind you that in the 1950s we built the AVRO Arrow with Iroquois engines that could go to sub-orbital altitude and Mach 2. It put even current jets to shame and was only cancelled because President Eisenhower was scared shitless of its capability and was jealous that the US didn't build it and convinced our unfortunately gullible Prime Minister that underachieving American Bomarc missiles were the way to go. Take that.
I know this is a 6 year old comment but by god the Avro Arrow does not in anyway put modern jets to shame. It would not even be top-of-the-line if the program wasn't scrapped.
@@marktaras6834 I mean in terms of speed it did.. but so did dozens od other jets durings the mach age.. the Arrow was a top performing interceptor in its day, and one ofnthe fastest jets on the planet for a few years. But at the heart of it its mostly just a kick in the teeth to alot of canadian aero enthusiasts and engineers lol
I'm impressed in all the videos where Rick does hard things, how good he is at being a pretty tough dude, he didn't get sick, black out, nothing, just laughing! check out the one where he works on the power lines too, really no fear! impressive!
We got our first one in '82, and in October we'll have been flying them for 30 years! We flew the shit out of them, and the US Navy never put theirs through half of what we did either.
I shit none not, I had my arm up in salute of Ricks's safe landing. To all the women and men of the Canadian Armed Forces, I truly wish that every mission that you undertake in the name of our soil and flag is as successful as this! God Bless you all, and thank you!!!
as my late polish father would say, no a spelling error. GOD GLESS CANADA. those words mean so MUCH to me because im a PROUD CANADIAN. over and out. EDWARD BUSKO
Love the guy's reaction every time they lay on a couple G's... Hahaha man I'm glad he had a good time :) I can't believe there are people who get paid to do this :)
AS fantastic as Rick was for a civilian in the plane, its the pilot who is just out for a Sunday stroll LOL. Man this was an awesome video... All the RMR vids are great
Excellent! Would love to fly the CF18. CAVU skies to all service pilots. I flew with the RAFVR, flying more hours than anybody else. Once we were warriors!
@@ike4584 it was a documentary in 2008 showing off new rookies training to become CF-18 pilots, it is a very interesting documentary I would recommend checking it out.
Good stuff Rick mercer.this guy's having the time of his life and getting paid in every show he does.i didn't know that he was gay.but that's his business.. your still Kool in my books.
410 is the training squadron for the CF-18 and pilots would do that as part of the course. Occasionally they would have to do one periodically to keep current. It also helped the fire fighters train and keep their people qualified.
@VNSki The F-15SE is 100M$, the F-35A is 120M$. The F-35 has a (comparitably) very user-friendly cockpit, lowering the training time required, and thus, reduce the cost. It also has more internal hardpoints for weapons + bigger cannon. The range on internal fuel is similar, despite being smaller. F-35 has a smaller radar cross-section. Not saying the F-15SE sucks, because that would be my second option. But it seems like something that would need replacing in 15 years as oppose to 30.
F-15SE Role Multi-role fighter is designed to be sold to other nations such as Israel Saudi Arabia, Japan, and South Korea as well as others... stealth will only be in the range of fifth generation aircraft such as the F-35 LII From the frontal aspect. The F-15SE's lower cost compared to fifth generation fighters is intended to aid the aircraft's appeal to the export market.
@canadathestrong The new F-15SE uses stealth technology too.... The old f-15 is one of the most successful fighter in the world and little problems regarding it's performance. We only need the government to invest into our air industry, we also have companies that makes airplanes such as Bombardier.
I wondered why he needed to do an arrested landing. Here in the US it's only for emergency landings or training the ground guys on the E28 arresting gear.
you know what, you are absolutely right. I retract all previous statements, and acknowledge your rightness and that you probably have beautiful hair. sorry for the confusion caused. you sir have a wonderful day :) sorry again
I love this show and watched many of them multiple times, but this is something I have to pick at. This is not his first time in a G-suit yet he acts same both times like he doesn't even know the name, I know it's a scripted show but get a little better with the details :) I know Rick does not often mention his experiences from previous shows during filming new ones and most of the shows seem like a first time experience. But that small detail kinda ruins it for ya when you see that flaw. Like watching a movie and even tho you are immersed in fiction, if you saw a car get less damaged during a high speed chase, you would loose that focus. Still very much enjoyed it just my 2c on how it could have been better.
freakyflow Sorry. but Harjit Sajjan is not an Indian- he is a Canadian who, in my opinion, exemplifies what a Canadian should be. One the only bright moves Trudeau has made so far.

13 was filmed 13 yrs ago, and we haven't upgraded this aircraft. I like the F-18 but it is getting VERY long in the tooth, and I wouldn't want to send our air crew up into a combat situation, unless it was in a third world country flying AN-2.
@svd205 So you need constant recognition but were the ones who are insecure. plus althought the cf18 is a model of an american plan we payed for it so it belongs to canada, get over it.
@svd205 meh, doesn't really matter to us Canadians, you Yanks made a good product, we bought 'em and fly 'em. By the way, speaking of insecurity why do you need an ego stroke when the story was about the Canadian Air Force?
Awesome vid, Rick is soo lucky he gets to do that stuff. (AND WTF IS with all the fighting about US and CANADA that is not the point of this video just enjoy it FFS)
C Genious Actually the official canadian designation for the american made CF18 is actually the CF188 [CF188A for single seat and CF188B for two seat]. However as Dassault Aimpoint stated, its more widely known as the CF18 Hornet.
I always thought the single was a CF18 and the tandem seater was CF118. Learn something new every day. They used to rip over my house at least once a month where I lived at school. You could always tell when they were coming in because the sound would drown out the whole city and I would run to the window like a child each time.
C Genious yeah they sound absoluteley astonshing, i was at CSTC greenwood last july, and they would rip over every 3 days, either at 5 in the morning or 4 in the afternoon. hardly any noise whn your facing the intakes, but the burner can side, man it shakes buildings! cant wait to go back, beautiful things!
NORAD is a waste of money, and it benefits mostly the US not us.We need more NAVY equipments to defend our resources in the northern hemisphere. These jets wouldn't do us any good without the NAVY in the northern hemisphere when things get ugly.
We don't need a single engine fighter to patrol our disputed arctic borders. Although our CF18s have all the upgrades, they are ending their service life. Personally I think the Super Hornet would be a better buy for us, given we already have the pilots and facilities in place to operate and maintain the aircraft. But in the end it will be all about politics and not common sense.
@TheBigDead0ne the cf-18 is better but barely, i m sure the f-35 models outperform it however it is not nearly the equivalent of the cf-18, canadian and american both have some better stuff than the other, but if ur anti-canadian, y r u watching this?

Your probably just gonna shoot em down over our cities but it’s nice having you with us.

Mike Hunt had some pretty deep insight.

Giggling like a schoolgirl throughout some of the maneuvers, not many 1st, 2nd or even 3rd timers do that.

Hard to believe that it took Canada a long time to go from the CF-104 to a comparatively modern jet.
