Keith has nothing to do with this period of Prodigy. He was only one of Liam dancers and I think only at the end of the real Prodigy period. 'No good' was in my opinion the last Prodigy track. I never liked the new style Prodigy, for me are the tracks Android, Out of Space, No good, Every body in the place the real Prodigy!
@@guilianomusic5489 you're lost; The icon of The PRodigy was Keith Flint, and I remind you that The Prodigy is a group characterized by strength in their music.
It's amazing on how some advertisements were put together in those days that captured the imagination, and conveyed the message that would stay in your mind. Simple, and effective. I vaguely remember this. Glad though that the Prodigy decided to use this as a sample as it's one of my all time favourite rave classics :-)
This was cleverly presented and valid advice for people of my generation when we were children, and it then helped to spawn an all-time rave classic for us (not least *because* we all remembered it so well!) when The Prodigy sampled it during the rave years. Nostalgia for *TWO* reasons, spanning a generation... how many TV clips can boast that?! :)
Every summer we can rent a cottage In the Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear We shall scrimp and save Grandchildren on your knee Vera, Chuck, and Dave
Wonderful memories as a child in the 70s. What an awful world it is today by comparison, on so many fronts. A simpler life, this country was having its problems with strikes and power cuts etc, but it was just such a nicer place than today.
Love the little musical "da dah!" When I was little I always thought that cloud looked liked a map of Britain backwards, and you know what, it does ;-)
I remember this as a child and it's a good reminder you should always tell a adult were you are going , it's sad to think in this day and age a child is never safe when out and about !!!!
@Shane Jones He was referring to a child's parents, if it wasn't obvious, not just some random grown up and I'm pretty sure your parents wouldn't do that
@Shane Jones Yeah...no. That only makes sense in your messed up mind, apparently. Especially when you take into consideration the primary purpose of this cartoon
My mum made me watch this to warn me of strangers, because there had been a lot of child-murders in the mid-80's ( not that she told me THAT), but this ad always always reminds me of the day my childhood innocence disappeared forever. I'm over it now, thank goodness. Sniff.........
I was watching this in my uni library and laughed out loud, much to everyones disapproval. Then I read your comment just as I was controlling my laughter, and laughed again. Thanks!
What is it that Mum is so involved in talking about to the milkman? "We've got to tell the boy sometime, Janet!" "Donald, it'll break his heart. He loves his Dad"
Wasn't Prodigy that brought me here, but my mother who would always make reference to 'Charley says...', since my cat would always make silly noises in the evening.
1973: Dark brown, muted orange, dark green. My early childhood books (I was born a few years afterwards) were in those colours. Even the white was pale yellow. Clearly the designers had had their brains fried a few years before and they couldn't handle bright colours anymore.
charlie was voiced by uk radio and television personality kenny everett who also broke the queen song bohemian rhapsody on his radio programme by repeatedly playing it when noone else whould.
kieth flint looks like that cat. I remember that ad being on the tele in the 70s i also remember that when you went to the toilet in primary school in the 70s the paper was like tracing paper and it used to cut the hole off you.
This kid is clearly listening to the "voices" & projecting it through his mentally challenged cat.. DAVE & VERA : hey kid, you want to come along to the park and have a picnic? KID: ok sure, let me just..... SPAZ CAT: mwiouw eeeoow moooweee, eeeeowwinnngg eeeeemoiuuuuuewewe.. KID: Charley says i can't go before i do just one thing.. SPAZ CAT: wiiieeeeowww meeeoiwweingg weeeiioowww mweeeerrrriiii KID: Charley says.... DAVE & VERA: man alive....lets get out of here..
In '73 all we saw in the U.S. were Peanuts, some lame After School Specials and Grammar Rock (Conjunction Junction, What's Your Function?...). Similar animation but that's what it was back then. I never knew about this until the Prodigy.
“Mum was talking to the milkman”. Lol. Vera and Dave were just a decoy 🤣🤣🤣
Who’s here because of the prodigy 👍❤️
Everyone 😂👌
Of course!
me
Yo

One off the best samples iv ever heard the prodigy had a great knack picking samples and sounds
The Prodigy sampled this advert brilliantly in their dance sing "Charly".
Really?
No shit, Sherlock 🕵️♀️
Yes... and also, Christopher Columbus discovered America !
Charley says, "*infernal noises*"
Best trance album
True😂
You cant call yourself a true Prodigy fan if you dont like Charley.
CHARLEY 4 LIFE ! ! !

Thank you fo being one of few people respecting this classic advert and not just being an idiot like the others 👍

Mummy says "not now dear, the milkman is going to show me his gold top milk in the bedroom"
Who knew this would get sampled into one of the greatest rave tunes of all time
Wow, this is the greatest sample of ALL TIME! How many nights have i danced my arse off to this one!
This was also on tv in the early 80s. Just what was mummy talking about that warranted all of that milkman's time.. we'll never know
Great work. RIP Keith.
Ah Love it I remember this advert grown-up as a kid 5-6 -7 - 8 Years old it’s still brilliant. I love Charlie the cat
Oh please. We all know what "mummy" was doing with the milkman - and that's why she failed to notice that Charly wasn't there.
pretty sure aphex twin has a song about this milkman/mummy situation
Cracked me up so funny
Your profile picture of Glen Quagmire just makes this comment better. Also, we all know what type of "milk" he was giving to her.
Lol :-)
69 likes. I'd be a shame. If someone were too. ruin it.
The Prodigy - Charly
great tune, great band, great cat lol :D

Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck, and Dave
"Charly says always tell your mummy before you go off somewhere" Lol, that was a good song
As a kid back then, I remember this "Charlie Says" advert. I wasn't going anywhere, with anyone after seeing that!
Wonderful memories as a child in the 70s. What an awful world it is today by comparison, on so many fronts. A simpler life, this country was having its problems with strikes and power cuts etc, but it was just such a nicer place than today.
If only Kieth flint listened to Charlie... And didn't go off somewhere 😢.........
R I P: "Punk "Synthesizer Starter"😎 you will be missed 🙏
Great advice from childhood a lot of us heard while E'd up at a rave! Liam Howlett and co owe so much to this cat!!!
Brillant clip teaching all my kids this needs to be back on the telly might just stop children going off and getting abutted
0:10 The Prodigy - Charly ♥
orly
0:53 you mean
@@OmniDubStep actually both
0:10 cat noise
0:53 Charly says always tell your Mommy before you go off somewhere.
Love the little musical "da dah!"
When I was little I always thought that cloud looked liked a map of Britain backwards, and you know what, it does ;-)
Takes me back..Priceless
omg the prodigy was so popular they turned his characters into a cartoon
Charly says always tell your mommy before you go somewhere **Bass Drop**
Charlie actually says “Meow Bob, Homer, where were you?”.
My cat literally did this meow upon seeing me today.
Charley, Made ultra famous by The Prodigy.
Though I admit The Prodigy sent me here, this is well adorable!! I'm so glad I got to see it.
I remember this as a child and it's a good reminder you should always tell a adult were you are going , it's sad to think in this day and age a child is never safe when out and about !!!!
@Shane Jones He was referring to a child's parents, if it wasn't obvious, not just some random grown up and I'm pretty sure your parents wouldn't do that
@Shane Jones Where exactly did you come up with a conclusion that he/she's a guy and what does that have to do with anything anyway?
@Shane Jones Yeah...no. That only makes sense in your messed up mind, apparently. Especially when you take into consideration the primary purpose of this cartoon
@Shane Jones k
Charlie says always tell your mummy where you're going or Jimmy Saville might lock you in his basement 😉
Just hearing that "meeow" brings back so many amazing memories!
My mum made me watch this to warn me of strangers, because there had been a lot of child-murders in the mid-80's ( not that she told me THAT), but this ad always always reminds me of the day my childhood innocence disappeared forever. I'm over it now, thank goodness. Sniff.........
Well, now I know where this comes from. Thank you Prodigy.
Kenny Everett aka charley brilliant hence the prodigy song always tell your mummy before you go off somewhere
BARRY RUTTER charile was actually a seven year old son of a producer. The voice of pilchard the cat was Kenny Everett
I was watching this in my uni library and laughed out loud, much to everyones disapproval. Then I read your comment just as I was controlling my laughter, and laughed again. Thanks!
wow what nice friends, can't even wait 12 seconds for him to come back.....
That cat seriously used to make me chortle whenever it spoke though lol
What is it that Mum is so involved in talking about to the milkman?
"We've got to tell the boy sometime, Janet!"
"Donald, it'll break his heart. He loves his Dad"
Shocking plot twist - Vera and Dave had been abducted by the same bloke that tried to nab Charley's pal at the swings.
my dad said this saved thousands of lives
classic, loved this as a kid, meeeow meoow meoow
Loving his face at the end :P
The late great Kenny Everett provided Charley's voice. This is the one that Liam Howlett sampled.
0:50 the face you make when your cheese sandwich tastes like raw fish
I don't care what people say, this PSA was so damn cute 😊
RIP Keith Flint
they need to bring these to america! if i saw these commercials i'd stop and watch, and take in it's safety message!
“Mum I’m off to a hardcore rave and I won’t be home till 3 in the morning”
0:24 Plot Twist: The Milkman was Pat Mustard
Wasn't Prodigy that brought me here, but my mother who would always make reference to 'Charley says...', since my cat would always make silly noises in the evening.
finally someone else you fucking hate the people spamming in the comment section
That cat needs its own show!!!
I'm pretty sure it also needs a neck brace to keep from breaking its neck every 5 Seconds
The closest we had to that was Henry's Cat!
Why my cat is called Charlie :) such nostalgia for this
Charley says, this fish is good. He said fuck all about asking your mom.
Charley should be on tv nowadays.
now i know why liam chose that sound of the speaking cat, its fucking weird and amazing at the same time!
god this makes feel soooooo old
look son, its time you knew this, the milkman is your dad.
I came here looking for Keith Flint and some E's all i found was this spazzing cat...
little bit of base, little bit of drums
The Trip into Drum and Bass version of Charly sounds like “2U” by Justin Bieber.
@@ModricoTV lol.this version sounds absolutely fine. you're biased
Aw this is cute.
The last time I took advice from a sentient cat I had to go to therapy for burning a building
Very wise, and it's the best thing to do!
"Talking" to the milkman. My arse
This is what stopped 40 somethings in Britain being molested as children.
Charley sounds like he said Here now where going for a ride
The advert is charming but insane!
Yes always tell mummy where you are going, even if she is busy with the milkman lol.
0:11 "Can't go further! Are you real?"
Cat is tripping balls
This would perfectly fit in a Prodigy tune... oh yeah ... they've done it :D
my dad always told me about this advert when The Prodigy 's verison came on. the cat is scaring the hell out of me!
Sleep? No, I won’t be sleeping tonight.
Has anyone ever thought of making an old skool rave tune sampling this?
Hmmmm. What colour pallette appeals to kids more than dark browns?
1973: Dark brown, muted orange, dark green. My early childhood books (I was born a few years afterwards) were in those colours. Even the white was pale yellow. Clearly the designers had had their brains fried a few years before and they couldn't handle bright colours anymore.
It was the 70s dude. Brown was all over the place.
Classic love it remember it
charlie was voiced by uk radio and television personality kenny everett who also broke the queen song bohemian rhapsody on his radio programme by repeatedly playing it when noone else whould.

The Prodigy brought me here. Super cute lol!
I would not know about this without Prodigy. In my defense I live in the US, and we have our own PSAs, but not this one :)
haha, its so funny hearting this, after youve heard prodigy's "charly". they dont just sample charley himself.. they sample the cat!
