This is the beauty of BTS - many genres, different and difficult choreography, nothing is out of the realm of possibility for them. They have never stopped at one style or shied away from anything. When you consider that they write/compose most of their own music/lyrics it makes it even more impressive. Thank you for the reaction. I hope you continue to enjoy BTS.

The general gist of the track and dance is that a dancer dies twice....firstly if they lose their passion for their art... and that is the most tragic death.... it was from a quote from dancer Martha Graham.... The song was talking about what would happen if they lost their passion for music... Jimin's background in contemporary dance was just perfect for this ... they do a live version which is also stunningly beautiful....

With "Black Swan," BTS divulge their most harrowing shadow yet, one that any person who lives for making art faces: losing the passion for creating.
"A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." Martha Graham. This quote is at the root of the sentiments inlaid in "Black Swan." Much like a dancer feels purposeless when they can no longer express themselves through dance, BTS contends that the day that music no longer fills them with the same passionate fire as before, or even if there came a day when they stopped creating music - what they feel is their life's purpose - it would feel like death.
RM sings, "If this can no longer resonate / No longer make my heart vibrate / Then this may be how I die my first death."
Once again, BTS affirm that despite their countless record-breaking accolades, the wealth they've amassed, and their ever-increasing fame, they are artists. What means most to them is the art - music, visuals, dances - that they create.
    💜

I saw Black Swan three times and I would watch it again. All the group is wonderful and makes me dream. I saw all members of BTS dancing in this "modern ballet", they were so professionnel. Jimin was extraordinary, goegeous, excellent, and I would say «magic». Everything was perfect, the music, the voices, the décor and the play of lights were perfect to me. Both Jimin and JK were so focussed, no place for anything else than the ball of the swans. I was shaking at a moment and my eyes were full of tears, I was so emotional because of the Black Swan. Congratulation to everybody. With al lm y love. 🎭🎭🎭

Best reaction to Jimin dancing 😂 Do you know how HARD IT IS to get yourself up from lying down WHEN WEARING A CORSET? Once I was wearing a corset and somehow I found myself flat on my back AND I CANT GET UP because in order to get yourself up you need to BEND your body. And in a corset, you CAN’T. Jimin has such core strength, he literally lift himself up while he looks like a PLANK. He combines modern dance and martial arts. Your friend on the left really wanna talk more about Jimin. Maybe next time, let him 😅

BTS Debuted on June 13th, I can feel the energy of the Gemini sign in the group, as if they have several sides and personalities and this is shown in their music. Black Swan seems to me to be referring to something like a loss of personality or identity and also will as if they had lost their passion for music. This is one of the deepest songs I've ever heard, anyone who's seen the film will understand.

BTS tends to portray ideas and thoughts very well in their songs or videos. The complexity of most of his compositions beautifully expresses his creative and artistic choices. To do this, they use various devices and symbols, linking literary, psychological and social references. Repeating words is a deliberate literary device that puts emphasis on something and is called Epizeuxis. In this case, "bump, bump, bump" is the sound of the heartbeat and conveys the heightened sensation of anxiety; and, "jump, jump, jump" deepens the feeling of depression and dark thoughts, adding layers of complexity to the lyrics. In the case of "nah, nah, nah" and "yeah, yeah, yeah" the repetition makes the song accessible to BTS's multinational and multilingual audience where fans from diverse backgrounds can easily sing along, creating a sense of unity and connection. . “Black Swan” is inspired by the psychological theories of Carl Jung and explores the concept of “Shadow” which addresses the darkest things that exist in all of us and that we hide or repress, for example, our fears and doubts or our prejudices. It is based on the following quote from dancer and choreographer Martha Graham, “a dancer dies twice - once when she stops dancing, and this first death is the most painful”. That's why it's relatable to Tchaikovsky's famous ballet, "Swan Lake", where there's a character called Black Swan.
This song has an essentially deep and personal meaning for BTS, as it refers to the fear of losing their passion for music. The video portrays the fight between light and darkness, with beautiful visuals, powerful choreography and emotional vocals, adding depth to the narrative and representing the artists' internal conflicts and emotions. But the lyrics end with the hope that they will fight this feeling by looking deeper into themselves, understanding their feelings, knowing themselves better, and using those feelings as inspiration to make more music.

Also, in case you aren't aware, there are Behind the Scenes on BANGTAN TV channel, as well as dance practices. Black Swan ilustra a morte como uma etapa da vida, como o fim de um ciclo. Como se algo que se tornou ruim, morresse, para que o que ficou de bom pudesse renascer de forma mais brilhante e intensa.
"My heart no longer accelerates when I hear the music play, It's trying to stop, it's like time has stopped, oh This would be my first death, which I was always afraid of.”
Nesse trecho a seguir: "Deeper Yes, I think I'm going deeper I keep losing focus No, let me go Let my own feet guide me I will dive into myself In my deepest interior”...aqui o BTS nos mostra que é necessário ficar vulnerável, estar disposto a mergulhar para acessar e trabalhar em seu autoconhecimento.

2018 BTS were considering splitting up. Their schedules and getting no time off. Constantly practicing. For some time it was really getting to them. They were suffering for some time as coming from the very bottom to such world wide fame they were not prepared for it. The quote from the famous innovator of modern dance Martha Graham. ... A dancer has two deaths and the first death is the hardest. This is the inspiration for the song lyrics. Also They have said when ghe spotlight of fame shines the brightest the shadows are the darkest. In this song that came out in 2020 they are talking about the fear of burn out and losing their passion for music.

Hi Good reaction, ty. This one has beautiful deep meaning of their lyrics. As you notice like lines " It would be my first death. That's what I'm afraid of ." It has that emotional theme of an artist fear for losing their passion for what they do. With this song BTS dives deep into their inner selves as artists and faces the shadows they had once hidden. The song lends voice to their fears that one day music will no longer be able to move or touch them. The very moment they come face to face with the ‘Black Swan’ within themselves, however, they are stricken with a paradoxical realization that music is all they have. It is a confession of an artist who has truly learned what music means to himself. It's also inspired from Martha Graham, who said “A dancer dies twice once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful.” Now with the band on a break from group work and focusing more on solo projects (solo albums). We know this was also a hint to us that they were struggling. I hope u watch all the performances for this song. =0] Stay safe. - 2019 ARMY NY USA 💜

Black Swan ballet: changing from white to black swan - growing up, losing innocence.
Black Swan movie - sacrificing mental and physical health to reach the top.
    Shadow/mirror images - self reflection.
Black Swan: Mainly written by RM, the one you like, is about their fears of losing all passion for music, either writing it or performing on stage. It's also based on a quote by Martha Graham who was an important figure in the world of modern dance, "A dancer dies twice. Once when they stop dancing and this death is more painful." They've been doing this for a long time now and for some of them it's all they've ever done from a young age but realized music is their life.

Fun fact: Before BTS began doing it, it wasn't normal at all for Korean idol groups to release songs with deeper meanings, discuss serious topics in their songs, acknowledge issues of vulnerability like burnout, depression or mental illness. It wasn't normal for idols to open up about their personal troubles at all. In fact, doing so got some idols thrown out of their companies. It was also not normal or common to have a running storyline/theme that is carried through multiple albums and/or MVs and songs. But BTS did it all so successfully, and broke those stigmas, to the point that now many other Korean idol groups have started trying to do those things, with varying degrees of sincerity and success.
This song, its lyrics and MV are part of the "Shadow" portion of BTS's Map of the Soul era, in which they released albums and songs based on Carl Jung's theories regarding the Persona, Shadow, and Ego. This track is an exploration of their "shadow" selves' fear that they may someday lose their passion for their art - they ask if perhaps they are already losing it- and they wonder what comes after that "first death" of the loss of passion. In the end, they continue to fight for their passion and their art, claiming they won't be swept away by these fears again. I would encourage you to think about how counter-cultural BTS is being in songs like this: Not only are they dealing with topics that were taboo only a few years ago, but they're being unbelievably personally vulnerable, sincere and open. This is why we love them so much, and I'm sure you will, too! 💜
Example: A couple of weeks ago Jimmy Fallon had BTS on his late night show. They performed a song called Idol at This Idol performance at Gyeongbokgung Palace as a background and wearing hanboks. There are so many amazing location Rich with Ancient history. Here is a link to the idol performance, so you can see the background visual of the palace. th-cam.com/video/MXFkjMNXfpY/w-d-xo.html

You understood this 100%! In retrospect after Festa 2022 when they announced the beginning of Chapter 2, (solo work & military before reuniting) I believe that Several songs on this album deal with the fact that they lost focus and inspiration and needed time to rest and reflect on their own before coming back together stronger than ever after the military. This embodies the Karl Jung’s psychological concept of Shadow, the dark part of your personality. From the album Map of the Soul 7 in 2020 that covers Shadow and Ego. The previous album was Map of the Soul- Persona. They were supposed to do a big world tour in 2020 to promote this album, then take a break for solo work and military service before reuniting. But Covid happened in early 2020 after they started promoting the album with this song and O.N., with 3 MV’s shot in LA California. Plans changed. Their big tour was cancelled. This led to Dynamite, the “pandemic album” BE, Butter, Permission to Dance (PTD), 2 Grammy nominations, the PDT tour in Seoul, LA& Vegas, their anthology album Proof. They finally started solo work one by one in late 2022 through late 2023 and the last 4 enlisted in December 2023. Jin comes back this June 12!!! Jhope in October and the rest in June 2025.

"Black Swan" is about the fear of losing passion for art and the relationship artists have with their craft.
The song's video opens with a quote from the late dancer Martha Graham: "A dancer dies twice -- once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful". The song's performances also acknowledge BTS' deepest fears and show how they choose to use those fears to grow creatively. The performances borrow heavily from modern dance to create an artistic spectacle.

Black swan is a really deep song with great meaning ...infact Bts is a group like that with their foundation and prominent for their lyrical brilliance, depth, symbolisms, metaphor, literary aspect.i feel it its mandatory to watch their stuff with explanation as.well..otherwise its a huge miss.. Its literally art..so.artistic culturally that needs shouldnt be missed out on. ..newer and latest songs, english tracks dont really represent that..thats why i personally love their original tracks in Korean.. Their older song Songs like fake love, spring day,i need you, run, all bear high significance due to their signature styles.. Many other tracks without mv,part of albums are topnotch...talks about deep things, serious stuff..
