- This is my reaction to watching Hua Chenyu《平凡之路》Ordinary Path "Singer 2018" Episode 11【Singer Official Channel】 for the first time.

Welcome to Hua Hua. I keep forgetting about "Ordinary Path". It's not anywhere near my Top 60 Hua Hua Performances. It's a cover, not one of his compositions. He composes, arranges music, and is a multi instrumentalist.
He sings/Composes Rock, Rap, Reggae, Pop, SynthPop, Electronic, Broadwayesque, Traditional Chinese.
He is genuinely a combination of... wait for it... Freddie Mercury, Matt Bellamy (his idol), David Bowie, George Michael and... Elton John. 😂 (And, I've been a fan of Queen since BEFORE they were famous).
He is chameleon-like in his looks, and genres of music. Definitely not in my Top 60 Hua Hua Performances, but "Nunchucks" definitely shows more scope than "Ordinary Path" and is the usual intro to Hya Hua. For something really different you may like his "Fake Monk". For Rock ballad/Rap "Here we are", or try "To be free", or "Illusion & Reality" (Muse-like).
As a Roadie, you may be interested in his 2022 and 2023 Concerts. The staging is like nothing we've seen in the West (mostly out of his imagination). His entrance on "God Tree" 2023 is jaw dropping. (Songs not one of my favourites though). There is a "Hua Chenyu English Subtitles" TH-cam Channel. 👍
Watch for Copyright strikes for Reactions to TV performances. We don't mind blurred screens. It's YOUR Reaction we want to see. And, his Concerts are safer (especially Fancams.. some of which are excellent). The fans often collaborate and Edit multiple Fancams together.
There is a song written by a British writing team "Flying Conductor" which you may like. If you watch his 2022 Concert version, it let's you see THAT year's staging. 😳😳 (It looks stunning in his evening concerts). He has Mahjong and Video game Competitions among other things during the day for fans, as well as Daytime concerts. And... He competes in the Competitions. Daytime is more relaxed than the outright Concert in Evenings. 😂 He is now in a happy place. But us fans (Martians) have been on his angst-ridden journey to here.
Welcome to the world of Hua Chenyu! He is well-worth exploration. His original music and his cover renditions are innovative and exciting. Plus, his voice has such a beautiful, unusual tone. His back story is both fascinating and heart-breaking and knowing it lends a lot of understanding of his musical style. Bullfighting, Nunchucks and Madhouse are three of my favorites. "Fake Monk" is a cover rendition that is popular. It is also a song worth hearing, but I would suggest you get to know Hua Hua a bit before diving into it. His performances on the 2018 and 2020 "Singer" competition in China are all fantastic.

Hua Hua is amazing! I hope you'll react to him performing his own music. His concerts are unbelievable. I've seen the Stones, Beatles, Who... but I've never seen a concert like Hua Hua's. I flew from California to China 3 times last year just to see him sing and I'm getting ready for another concert next month. I feel like you'll appreciate the variety in his music. I suggest you go to Hua Chenyu Eng Subs for videos with subtitles. Hope to hear more.
I think you would truly enjoy Hua Chenyu's song "Nunchucks". It has several surprises.

Hua Chenyu is my favorite singer, I get to know him from Singer 2018 through TH-cam. This piece is a cover song regarding to the requirements of the show and it is six years old. Although I love this performance but it is more like a peek of his music world through a curtain. Hope to see more of your reactions to his performance. For this show you still have "I don't care", "Nuncheck", "Qi Tian", "Fake Monk"and so on .

This is a song adapted by Hua Chenyu in 2018, which is a very healing song. Hua Chenyu gave the song a new life and soul. To guide people in the wrong way of life.

Hua Chenyu will surprise you time and time again. Try Nunchucks (another cover) which another reactor called ‘musical whiplash’ which I think is fair. You can choose anything of his it’ll be worth it. Two things to note, Hua Chenyu Eng Subs channel will give you a lot of subbed content and secondly if there is a longer version of a song (eg Fake Monk) go for the longer one as he will be giving some context to it.

Aloha Joel! Thank you for finally reacting to this other special and unique artist out of China; he was on the Singer 2018 but won it in 2020. He was baskstage on Dimash’s Hello video. He mashes genres up like Dimash but he is more theatrical on stage. He is more the rapper/rocker type. Check out his: Nunchucks, Jackdaw Boy and I Don’t Care from the Singer and Madhouse, Bullfight and Black and White from his own catalog. Another fun one is My Skateboard Shoes and impactful one is Dad, I’m Home. He is not only another genius artists but also is the song on stage. You will like him also! Before Dan Vasc, never listened much to heavy metal and before HuaHua and Dimash, never cared for rap or opera type genres. Enjoy your journey down HuaHua’s rabbit hole! HuaHua’s fans are called Martians.
One of the most unique versatile/ composer. This is one of his milder performance. He can take you on a wild and emotional ride at times. Hope you continue to explore his vast talent. He is full of surprises.

In 2016, I discovered Hua Chenyu on TH-cam, and since then, I have been continuously exploring his music, watching his interviews, and embarked on a journey with no return. Singer 2018 was a good start to understand his singing style. It would be even more interesting if you started from his first performance. Every time is a different style, a different vocal style!
Jessie J also participated in Singer 2018. She won the top place voted by 500 live audience members in the first three episodes. In the fourth episode, Hua Chenyu joined the competition and defeated Jessie J with his original song 'Qi Tian'! Hua Chenyu has a way of emotionally connecting with the song he sings, so every song is performed differently to suit it, he also has a way of switching things up and surprising. His concerts are epic, as you have been a roadie you may actually appreciate his live concert performances over his TV performances, I'd suggest 7 personalities from last year (a subtitled version of the official concert footage is available titled " [ENG/FR/JP SUB]《Seven Personalities》Mars Concert 2023 Changsha Official Strip Ver. 0622" )

Yes please, 7 Personalities is one of my favorite songs and his 2023 Mars concert stage 😮🤯..... I was at 2 of his concerts in China last year. Best concerts I have ever been to. Stage, Lighting, Sound... just amazing.
That version of 7 Personalities is good, yes. But i still prefer the first performances, especially the New Year Galla. I miss the final scream.. though i do understand and appreciate why he leaves it out now

I keep changing my favourite Hua Hua Performances...because he switches up even his most famous compositions. He challenges himself, and.. Us. (Speaking of "Us" 😭😭😭). And, THAT is the genius of the man.
@@gogglebox2427 Haha, yes the order of my top 30 Hua Chenyu songs changes for me too. Depending on my mood. But 7 Personalities was my favorite for years until Illusion and Reality came out. I love this songs. They are so amazing. He has so many amazing songs. Even to decide which are my top 50 is nearly impossible 😆
@@vijandrav.6095 I love that first time we saw 7 Personalities at the New Year Festival. It just ticked every box. And, he seems to have stopped that end note. Which was like a descent into Hell. Even doing a Symphony Concert? He just has a mind that is like no other.
With the ability to cover every genre (Perhaps Love, with THAT surprise😍), and take his popular hits and be brave enough to rejig them. Every performance is fresh. And the staging of his Concerts now 😳😱😍 Pure genius... above even my previous musical heroes.. Freddie Mercury and David Bowie.
