Me after watching this tutorial: Alt How-T-F am I going to remember all this! Practise makes perfect I guess. Time to start today. Thanks for these videos man. As a new Investment Analyst your videos have helped me in my job tremendously. Shoutout from Singapore :)
Just an FYI, I learned this by forcing myself to do it in school (Any Excel assignment, I made sure to not touch the mouse). The beginning is brutal cause you'll go really slow/very frustrating, but once you get it, it's muscle memory and you'll HATE using the mouse. Long run it's worth it (till Excel's obsolete). Also alt + D when you're on the internet gets you directly to the search bar which has been helpful.
I think the best tutorial for modelling shortcuts!! Keep up the good work and hope you continue with these tutorial on Excel modelling. It would also important to see all the useful modelling formulas, for example: offset, index, indirect etc... Many thanks from Italy!
one advantage of alt+e+s+v over ctrl+alt+v is that you dont have to hold all the keys at the same time i.e. you can press Alt > e > s > v in a sequence but you have to press ctrl, alt and v key at the same time. Its a bit more comfortable and baby proof :)
My Alt+E+S is not working, do you have any idea what is going on? The only way it's working for me is the Crtl+Alt+V shortcut. Befere used to work, but suddently stopped!
Really useful! Shoutout to you Ben from Singapore, enjoyed your vids, gained a lot of new insights about macro and crypto, took notes as well, definitely helpful for my analyst work!
Super helpful after watching you build DCFs in real-time at lightning speed. Super helpful knowing your thinking behind each keystroke. Thanks so much & keep them coming pls!
In training with WSP now, great company you're working with. Sweet video, thank you for walking through this. Can you do a walk-through of a 3-statment model next?
Hi there, many thanks for the video! Just have one question, at 10:32 you use ctrl+"," to add decimals but this didn't work in my excel. I use alt + h + 9 for that but it takes longer to type it. Did you make any modification in your excel to use ctrl+","?
hm no i didnt it might be the excel version but i'm not sure it's always worked for me and i didn't configure anything. if u google ur issue u may be able to adjust it
Hi Ben! I hope you are doing well. Thank you for the video. I would really appreciate If you could make a video about the formulas that you used in JP while constructing DCF model. Formulas like offset, or more complex ones. Again thank you for the video, keep up bro. Cheers!
@@astonmartinone100 you're actually preferred with bachelor's since they only want to you to work 24/7, they don't care whether you have any knowledge whatsoever
I looked through some SPAC models and they gave every company the same one LOL. I mean fair enough only so much you can do with likely fraudulent predictions but still some intern saved a lot with the ctrl c + ctrl v and then just change the company name
Do correct me if I am wrong, but I feel, (@23.21) in the Cash flow section, it should be Net Working Capital (NWC), instead of change in NWC. NWC i guess is (operating assets - operating Liab), i.e it is a value at a given point in time. Change in NWC should be the current - previous year NWC.
wall street prep reached out to me and i looked into their courses and liked how their financial modeling package went directly into company financial statements while modeling which financial edge didn't do. they also have a lot more courses that cover a ton of different industries and topics so i liked that as well. in the end though, i think both are great companies and you can't go wrong with either! i just liked WSP more so decided to only partner with them now
Is there a specific type of keyboard used in investment banking? I am in real estate finance for a relative's firm and always searching for ways to improve my efficiency
Thank you for the video - super helpful! Just curious why the IS has D&A for more years than the CFS does? And why do we take D&A from CFS and not IS? Thanks!
I looked up that the new excel doesn't function that way so if anyone wants to do it you need to add it to your ribbon shortcuts, then you can make it to a number like ALT + 1 then you can hold it down to redo the action
Hi, these tips are pretty useful. But I still wonder if you can recommend a systematic Excel course series for engineering(computer science) background students?
Hey man, I am a sub to both of your channels, and I absolutely love your content. I can’t even lie, as a college student, you really have inspired me so much. I just had a quick question and it may sound stupid, but I have a MacBook and the short cuts are not working whatsoever. When I use alt and use a certain key, it just types stuff out in a cell. Do you know if there’s anything in doing wrong?
Awesome video! For the ctrl + "." and ctrl + "," to expand/decrease decimals. Is there anything special you needed to set up to do this shortcut. Tried it out on my Mac and Windows, no luck. This shortcut would be be super helpful in my day to day!
Excel works better on a PC than a Mac. I’d rather buy a $500 PC than install parallels, which runs around $120/ year. What kind of PC was this model constructed on?
Is there a way of getting an internship after being out of school for a while? I have a finance degree and have literally done nothing with it. My resume is full of retail jobs. I have been doing a valuation analyst program, DCF, 3-statement models etc. What can I do? Just subscribed to your channel! Thanks for the content!
sadly I don't think so. It seems that the bulk of people who intern/entry level are 22 year old schlubs who they can abuse and they don't know any better. You're too wordly for them
Hi Ben!! Rly thanks for introing and going thru this with us. Can I ask if Wall Street prep also provides other data related courses as well (SQL, VBA) etc?

What is the difference btwn wallstreetprep and fe?
My school paid for the excel course, M&A and LBO modelling. I would definitely recommend it!
4K Excel tutorials. Oh how the times have changed.
This is what i was waiting forrrrrrrrrr!. Thank you so much.
no prob~

Thanks for these videos man. As a new Investment Analyst your videos have helped me in my job tremendously. Shoutout from Singapore :)
hahaha you pick it up fast after some practice i promise
Got an internship in 3 days, better be fast ahah

will be making a formula video in the future!
For the paste special short-cut, you can actually do crtl+Alt+V. It's smoother than alt+e+s since we are all used to crtl V.
one advantage of alt+e+s+v over ctrl+alt+v is that you dont have to hold all the keys at the same time i.e. you can press Alt > e > s > v in a sequence but you have to press ctrl, alt and v key at the same time. Its a bit more comfortable and baby proof :)
great alternative i agree!

The pace of the video was just perfect for me. Didn't even realize it had been 30 min until you pointed out.
Thanks for sharing.
I’ve heard people said if u’re an excel-pro, u rarely use the mouse
I finally get it now lol
Great skills and hard-work behind!
Really useful! Shoutout to you Ben from Singapore, enjoyed your vids, gained a lot of new insights about macro and crypto, took notes as well, definitely helpful for my analyst work!
glad to hear it's helpful!
Was looking for this comment!
Woo, now we have something to link folks to in every stream!
Super helpful after watching you build DCFs in real-time at lightning speed. Super helpful knowing your thinking behind each keystroke.
Thanks so much & keep them coming pls!
You could make one video with most recurring use formulas, would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, you have a solid content.
In IB/Modeling it doesn't get very complicated. The most advanced formula is maybe xlookup. it does not get more difficult.
I'm commenting before I start this video. Can't wait to see your shorties
In training with WSP now, great company you're working with. Sweet video, thank you for walking through this. Can you do a walk-through of a 3-statment model next?
This video was so satisfying. Thank you
Thank you so so much!! This is exactly the file I am finding for a long time. Thank you again
Thanks for making this - will come back to this video. What keyboard are you using?
Because it's an excel shortcut video, here is one more : 7:49, to automatically display the date --> CTRL + ";" ;)
🔥🔥🔥 great content Ben!
Thank you for your tutorial. It was really useful!
No F1 key is the way to go. Good vid!
Thanks! I was going to ask you to do an excel video too!
You’re a great teacher
long waited video... thank you
Thanks for making this video. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for
For paste special - Ctrl+alt+v
thank you this is what we neeeed
Learned a lot! Would you consider doing a synergy analysis with accretion/dilution or LBO vid?
coming soon in the future~
The Quick Access toolbar is also pretty nifty for repetitive actions!
yup i need to add those i used to use them all the time
Hi there, many thanks for the video!

It could perhaps me a language thing? So if you change the language on your computer, it might work
May be a factset addition, CapIQ has similar shortcuts
Can I know the name of your keyboard, so cool !!!
Hi Ben! I hope you are doing well. Thank you for the video. I would really appreciate If you could make a video about the formulas that you used in JP while constructing DCF model. Formulas like offset, or more complex ones. Again thank you for the video, keep up bro. Cheers!
These are more like easy lookup fucntions. Look for Lambda or similar type of complex or VBA to master Excel !
Oh my god this is insane!
Wow this is exactly what I needed !
good to hear
3:10 I am listening and ready to learn
3:45 I am completely lost
Thank you for showing off the shortcut magic!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the video, can you elaborate the action done from 9'13'' to 9'20''
wow thank you, now i can have fun!
Make a video on tumbrules to follow in dcf
great idea for my next excel video!
May i know the brand of the keyboard you use in the video? Thanks
Amazing shortcuts💯. Could you make a video on how to build a financial model for the NFT exchange project?
not really possible atm
would you recommend wall street prep or financial edge for investment banking training?
to work in investment banking you need at least a masters of science in finance.
@@astonmartinone100 not true, just need bachelor's degree
@@astonmartinone100 you're actually preferred with bachelor's since they only want to you to work 24/7, they don't care whether you have any knowledge whatsoever
very helpful! thank you
Could you also do a PowerPoint Video with shortcuts? I think there a many investment bankers watching your videos 🙏🙏
Very neatly done! Thank you :)
hi ctrl + "." does not work on my excel do you know why?
Try this: Alt + H + 9--- to add decimal
Alt+ H + 0-- to remove decimal
Thansk fo ryou viedo man! what does purple and red cells stand for (If greens are linked to another sheet)
CTRL+1 is faster for formatting changes.
I'm a banker and I'm always wondering if modelling is actually useful, or is it more like something bankers invented just to make them seem helpful?
I looked through some SPAC models and they gave every company the same one LOL. I mean fair enough only so much you can do with likely fraudulent predictions but still some intern saved a lot with the ctrl c + ctrl v and then just change the company name
Thank you Ben!
Keep up the informative content !

Does he say what the keyboard is called?
Plz make more vids like this aaaaa
will do!
Hi Ben, which website do you get your income statements from?
Thank you 🙏🏽
What keyboard do you use? Looks v cool!
Can you give us the details on that keyboard thooo??
Great stuff! Thanks
ctrl alt v is alternative paste special
just curious on why you switched from financial edge to wall street prep?

Did CTRL + "." and CTRL + "," get removed as a shortcuts to add/remove decimal places?
Thanks a lot for this, I appreciate your quality of work.
My pleasure!
@rareliquid, what keyboard did you use in this video?
What keyboard do you use? I'm looking for a new one and want to try yours✌✌

How can I find the income statements for companies that show a 5 year history? I can only find the income statements for the previous quarter. Thanks
bamsec.com is good but only goes for past 3 years. looks at 10k's not 10q's
What laptop would you recommend for excel? Really struggling with my MacBook Air so planning on transitioning to a new laptop..
Hi im wondering why the add decimals or decrease decimals shortcut isnt working on my computer. I tired the Ctrl+'.' and Ctrl+','
I looked up that the new excel doesn't function that way so if anyone wants to do it you need to add it to your ribbon shortcuts, then you can make it to a number like ALT + 1 then you can hold it down to redo the action
Does Wall Street prep help with financial modeling for people that want to get into equity research
Hi, these tips are pretty useful. But I still wonder if you can recommend a systematic
Excel course series for engineering(computer science) background students?
hm not sure about this one sorry! think it'd be better to have the youtube community answer this one
What keyboard do you use? Is it linked to a laptop????
No QAT set up?
Is it okay if you do online course of finacial modelling or you have join a hand on class learning
No mouse gang 💪
where did you get the IS for amazon that's from 2013-2021? 10-k shows into 2027.
Waouh thank you so much for that !

the alt chain commands do not exist on mac
these shortcuts are only for the PC unfortunately

I guess for that to work you have to setup a special macro sheet which by default opens everytime you open excel but reamins hidden.
Same here
Does anyone have a tip
Excel works better on a PC than a Mac.
I’d rather buy a $500 PC than install parallels, which runs around $120/ year.
What kind of PC was this model constructed on?
For Mac please 🙏
What kind of keyboard is it ? Many people asked before. Could you please reply?
Thank you
it's not the same on macbook. all the keys are different and some of the shortcut combos dont work :(
any tips?
Read the doc file attached below the video, find the alt substitute likely cmd
Any chance finding these shortcuts in Excel for Mac as well? Does anyone know?

no probs
