Rapidan Dam Fails in Southern Minnesota After Heavy Flooding. On Monday, May 20th, 2024, heavy floodwaters caused the Rapidan Dam, located about 10 miles southwest of Mankato, Minnesota, to breach. The dam, which sits on the Blue Earth River and is over 114 years old, succumbed to the pressure of accumulating debris and rising river levels. Days prior to the breach, officials noticed debris piling up at the dam, causing concern. By Monday morning, the situation escalated rapidly. The Blue Earth County Emergency Management agency reported significant erosion on the west side of the dam, placing it in "imminent failure condition." Tragically, their fears were realized when floodwaters overwhelmed the structure, creating a breach. The breach of the Rapidan Dam unleashed a wave of potential dangers. Residents in low-lying areas along the Minnesota River Valley were urged to evacuate immediately. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning downstream until later that afternoon. Thankfully, there were no reports of casualties. The full extent of the damage caused by the Rapidan Dam breach is still being assessed. However, it's clear that the power of this natural disaster was immense. The compromised dam structure itself will require repairs or even reconstruction. Additionally, surrounding areas likely experienced flooding and potential damage to property and infrastructure. I'm no video expert, but if I were standing on the dam, looking down river, at 3:45, the water flowing around the dam and the white house, is on the Right. At time 3:47, all is on the Left. Anyone know how this "trick" (or screw up) is done? (I see where a comment below is: "Stupid video is mirror image"!).

"They" wanted this dam to go......they should have gotten an excavator out there right away to pick the debris out of the gates, still may have breached but would not have been as catastrophic.........(opinion)
Now you learn why logging important. Had they cleaned river banks the dam wouldn't have plugged up. This was preventable.
We need to get back to real world problems and not arguing over what pronouns to use!!!!!!!!
