Honestly at this point I believe Nintendo purposefully wants to leave them be as 8bit retro representatives among many other series from that era that don't have playable smash bros appearances to get folks to make videos like this. I think Kid Icarus was in the same boat and was simply saved cause Sakurai saw Brawl's redesigns for Pit and Palutena and said "I wanna give em a new game". Hopefully someday someone with clout would wanna give a primarily vertical platformer a shot with our favorite parka wearing... Well they aren't siblings as it turns out. Actually are they even kids? More than friends, less than lovers, I guess homies who share a passion for a hobby with benefits? Well anyway, hopefully someone with enough clout comes along and gives them another go. And some damn lore
The Ice Climbers are in that interesting zone of "Oh there's a Strong enough IP that we can reference it, and include the original game on NES compilations, but there's no need to actually make any sequels because, how much nostalgia is there really for it?". I think F-Zero, and Punch Out! have also ended up in that zone, despite having games up to the Wii.

I got the game too I got the old ice cream ice cream when they was not even in in a fighting game they were just doing their own thing
I think a co-op puzzle game could be a great way to bring back the Ice Climbers.
The Famicom cart version still has the seal, though.

a kid icarus uprising type business for ice climbers would be crazy but I have no idea how to make an ice climbers story or even a different type of game for ice climbers
When I was 5 and first got my GBA, one of the two games I got on that day was the Classic NES Ice Climber
And because the ice cream machine got the Smash Bros if it wasn't for that I'm fine with I wouldn't even want to get Smash Bros
