    I'm glad that *someone* on YT is still doing honest, unsponsored reviews. Thank you, Teoh.

      That’s why this is one of my favorite art-tech video creators, he’s so considerate with the budget of most common people.

      Actually many videos on my channel are sponsored, as in I get free products to review and are always mentioned upfront. But I try to review the products as factually as possible.
      I do buy some items occasionally to review. For this video, I had bought this screen protector because I received a free Benks one for review and I need to have some basis for comparison. E.g. I can only know if a product is overpriced when I know similar quality products exist at lower prices.

    I prefer diffused glare vs hard reflections (which sometimes lead me to confusion while doing realistic paintings, as it introduces tonal, hue differences; besides that, I'm among the ones that find them more _overly_ distracting, but maybe I am part of a minority), but I don't paint outside - I do, but on traditional canvas & brushes. I had not thought about this effect with strong sunlight. It is quite stronger than in interiors, where it's surely almost not noticeable. I do notice loss of saturation (in the video) on color with that protector on when outside but under some shadow. Nothing important for someone painting outside, though, where full color accuracy is almost impossible. I mean, one counts on that already.
    It can lead to a certain effect: If your screen is showing desaturated tones, you tend to over saturate colors, as what is _really_ happening on the actual file is more intense than what you are seeing. I guess some retouch or even some fast color /gamma/ curves correction once at home in a more controlled environment would fix it for many purposes.
    I wonder if it's better in interiors with fully controlled lighting (daylight 6.500K (color temperature) bulbs, no open windows, no funky colored walls, etc, etc). I have an Eizo monitor with anti glare coating and yet the colors are totally intense, matching my CMYK color samples printed books, etc. I have the non proven theory that only with built-in anti-glare one gets a fully satisfying solution... But mostly with the top professional monitor brands, and not really to work outside (which is a nightmare for full color accuracy, though not needed for many styles).
    Overall, I like the diffused glare "aesthetic", as it reminds me a lot of more of actual printed paper. As one other nightmare is how much can differ light based color from pigment based color, and the headaches that brings to accuracy and to get the wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) which is not only the base of trad painting, but also any kind of printing. One reason why I have my hopes on e-ink (easier on the eyes, too), but in the state it is now, I predict no less than 20 years until e-ink has good color intensity and accuracy! :D. For now it is almost comfy for just reading and some sketching (maybe less eye strain), but the constant refreshing and lag make it even not that great for that. Still, hugely promising. Without the constant refreshing, some lag and "ghost" images that get erased after some refreshes, I'd say he Amazon Scribble is about the best for sketching, in terms of pencil feel (pure B/W pencil sketching, that is! Nothing more). SuperNote, Remarkable 2 and others which I have tested are still kind of laggy on the pencil and feel less like pencil (and I don't mean the texture effect or friction ("slippery" is never a prob for me), but actual good response like a pencil).

    This is what I’ve been using since 2018. Zero complaints except the lack of installing tools I guess.
    I only work indoors though so the sun diffusion has zero effect on me lol

    The durability is poor, in a couple o months, with constant use, the texture is gone.

      Most of these matte screen protectors will lose the texture with time. But it's less than USD 10 for three pieces.

      That's as normal as pen tips wearing out, even matte coating that's factory applied on displays wears down over use

      @@keerthan7558 really? Because I have a Wacom cintiq pro 24" since 2019 and it's my main display for work and the matte screen is still intact. Since day one i have been using felt nips so, maybe that really preserves the matte texture, I don't know.

    Instead of using paperlike, I use a matte screen protector, it's more comfortable to look at and using a pencil is also not as slippery as using tempered glass

      @@teohontech7141 paperlike reduces the sharpness of the screen more than just a matte screen protector, because previously I used paperlike on my iPad pro, or maybe because I bought a cheap one? but compared to the matte one, the price is similar but the matte one is more comfortable. btw now I use Xiaomi pad 6s pro

    Any advice on the nano texture? I’ve been told by a friend who works with Apple and it’s not to use any as it defeats the purpose? But to keep the screen free from debris and use friendly folios, she also mentioned it’s advisable to use the Apple cloth for the purpose of Apple care claims, she however mentioned if you wish to use a normal microfibre cloth any will be sufficient as long as it’s only been used on lenses etc and not used for wiping rough surfaces down as it would be passed onto the nano surface

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can use any micro fiber cleaning cloth. It would be a stupid design if it can only be cleaned with Apple cleaning cloth

      @@teohontech7141I was hoping maybe a screen protector I use my iPad for watching films when I’m on holiday etc and now I’m learning to sketch I am hoping YOU begin some videos on basics for new people into art which I must admit the iPad Pro M4 nanotextured screen exacerbated my new found hobby and I do believe it’s encouraged others also, so in your opinion would you use either of the following if you had just spent £3400 on everything including both folio keyboard and rugged tablet case
      For sketches indoors I wouldn’t use or perhaps I would use my ESR paper like magnetic screen cover or would you just go the full hog and use a paper feel screen protector bearing in mind I really don’t mind working in the sun with some glare but would mainly be using my iPad M4 indoors or;
      Or would you think a screen protector would damage the nano texture screen? I do have apple care+ so I’m covered for screen issues, in your own personal opinion if you were me what would you do mate?
      And please 😂 do more art I’m loving you quick sketches it would be great to see you use procreate with the Apple Pencil pro,
      If it helps with any of your answers I also have IPad PRO 12.9’ 1TB 5TH Gen and also the same iPad except 6th gen and 2TB I get to attached to my devices as they are in immaculate condition the same going for my iPad Pro 3rd Gen 512gb 12.9’ and out of them all I genuinely prefer my 3rd gen it feels so light and thin like my M4 when both out of screen protector
      Keep up the good work all the best

    have you tested the nano texture glass? How does it compare to it?

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nano-texture has less glare when it diffuses light. Basically allows you to see what's underneath the diffused reflection more easily. th-cam.com/video/jVDhiAT-HIo/w-d-xo.html

    what do you think is the best matte screen protector that doesn't wears the apple pencil like sandpaper? (from what have you used or brands you know)

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have not tested many actually. Next one I'll review is Benks which is smoother.
      Anyway pen tip wearing off is not really a problem as replacement pen tips from AliExpress are very affordable.

      Nano texture has smoother surface, better image quality and has less glare with less aggressive reflection diffusion.

      For me after using both matte and glossy glass protectors, line wobble gets noticeable or worse. I don’t have that problem with a thin plastic screen protector. It’s the same with using longer metal third party nibs. My conclusion is the sensor of the pencil tip and its distance from the sensors on the screen is calculated and whenever it’s off by at least half a millimeter, it produces inconsistent results hence the line wobble. Not a problem if you draw and glide faster but it still bothers me whenever I draw lineart because I don’t always draw my strokes like that. Matte screen protectors are better for me as an artist. And I can attest that supershieldz is a great brand.

      I've not tried matte glass screen protectors before. But for the glossy glass screen protector I've tried, Apple Pencil performance is affected. That's why I don't review the glass protectors.
