Jonathan is very genuine. He really like Philippines and the people. He is not staying here just for vlogging but he really loves the people. The fact that he interacts with the locals a lot. Not pretending.
No wonder why a huge influx of foreigners are frenzied in coming to the Philippines not only bcoz of its natural pristine beauty but the filipinos themselves who are truly friendly and chatty and most of all, the non-language barrier bcz english is pretty much widely spoken in the country.
Hi Jonathan from Charleston SC!! I came across your vlogs a couple of weeks ago and now I'm hooked. I'm a Filipina who moved to the US when I was 17. I recently went back 2 years ago for the first time in decades. I sponsor a couple of families with children and the mothers are the only ones supporting their children; hardly anything to eat and no housing 😞. I love seeing you genuinely interact with the kids and everyone you meet. Thank you for showing everyone kindness and gratitude. Godspeed with your travels , thank you for showcasing my beloved country and much success with your channels. I subscribed and binge watch on my weekends off. Ingat and Salamat!
Damn son. Gotta say Jonathan, your street interview skills are smooth. You really know how to get people to talk about themselves and what they're doing. Love it.
Yeah she was saying they just throw it on the ground. Hopefully not in the ocean also. They definitely need trash cans otherwise people will do that it seems
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL"you call someplace paradise, kiss it goodbye"- The Eagles. I'm glad the local people are making a living but someone needs to protect the area or the reason people come will get ruined in the end
Siargao everywhere now is party place 🎉 🎈 🎊 🎊 🎈 🎉 🎈 The amazing thing is happening at the sunset bridge. The party is free for all. God bless to all Siargao islanders, foreigner, and bloggers thanks for sharing ❤
Hi Jonathan I have been watching all your videos about my country . Thank you for your sincerity and respecting the culture and the people. Stay well and many more good blessings to come all through your life. Enjoy your stay 🙏🙏😘.
These videos, especially this one and the last one, make this old fellow want to be back there. Friendliest people in the world. Johnathan of Alabama, too.
The local govt there must enforce every vendor there to have their own trash can. If not they get fined. Throwing trash just anywhere is not acceptable.
wow, great story on the young lady Erica moving from Manila to Siargao and first starting the little street vendor business. The beer and Cheesy Macaroni looks delicious.
your videos always make me happy and miss home so much.. I am from Bohol now iNj for 20 yrs but I wanna go back and retire home ..Thanks for bringing us along with you, Jonathan! Keep it up! 🎉
Hi Yanik and Helena, enjoy Philippines.. In 4 months time, I'll be traveling to Germany with my Mom and brother.. It's good to say that we will be having a cultural exchange and I am looking forward about it.
Wow! Thanks for sharing, this amazing, video with great music, delicious foods, excellent place very interesting 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤ Like, and support 👍👍👍❤❤ Take care and God bless!
Really enjoying your videos Jonathan. You treat the locals with such respect and kindness.Jen and I are heading back to the Philippines in November.Cant wait😊
Hey Johnathan, you weren't eating thai food. I'm from Cebu city and the sticky rice you were eating is a tradional Cebuano breakfast called puto maya. Its normally wrapped in banana leaves and served with sikwate (real hot chocolate) and mango. It can be also found in Visaysas and Mindanao region. Glad you liked it.
Sticky rice with mango was already a “dish” in the Philippines in 1970s but it wasn’t popularised. I remember having it as a teenager. I’m one of your subscribers, Jonathan I need to have my notifications bell on.
Thank for sharing Jonathan!!! That was a beautiful area to go. I really wish they would station more large bins onto the bridge for trash and recycling. I feel the trash problem back home really takes away from the beauty of my country. I can't wait to see your next video!! Salamat Jonathan!
One thing I was very surprised to see is that not many people are looking down at their phones. It's so refreshing in 2024 to see people being present and living in the moment and enjoying each other's company. There's nothing more tragic than when I go to restaurants in the states and families are all just looking at their phones and not even talking to each other
You made my day by visiting "Sunset Bridge" (now I know the place, thanks to you!). Sadly you didn't see Barbie over there but it was nice that you showed me what they sell over there. Thanks Bro!
1.) Puto Bumbong IS NOT ube sticky rice. It is sticky rice but has no ube. The purple color is food color, but the legit one uses black (dark purple) glutinous rice and white glutinous rice. No street vendor will use black glutinous rice because it’s super expensive. 2.) Filipino ice cream is also called “dirty ice cream”, not because it’s dirty but becaue it’s sold on the street. It’s mostly made of coconut milk instead of whole milk. It’s not vegan though because they add a little bit of skimmed milk. 3.) Mango sticky rice DID NOT originate in Thailand. It’s a Lao food. When Thailand invaded a part of Laos, they embraced their food like sticky rice and mango sticky rice.
A way to compensate for the trash issue is, charge accordingly. It shouldn't come out of the businessmans pocket. Public throws trash on the ground, they should pay for the clean-up. Or, more trash accessable units.
Sticky rice with mangoes is something that we already have in the Philippines. It’s not a copy of the Thai dish. The presentation though varies. In some areas, the sticky rice is wrapped in coconut leaves and then served with sliced fresh mangoes and thick hot chocolate. I think a similar presentation as the Thai’s would be Cebu’s puto maya.
Hi Jonathan, hope you'll try visit Barbie's ice cream someday while you're there. She also has a stall as well around the place and you can sing karaoke there. Thanks!

good spot! so many food stall, another good place to hang out with friends in siargao.. but people need to be aware of trash that ruined the place, nice vids man, take care and see you to the next one! 👍
I think it would be better if the local government will plan to put a strong and wide platform pier like adjacent and leveled to the bridge to accommodate future sunset visitors and give more opportunity to locals to earn their living and to ease the traffic. just an opinion...
LOL. I hope you someday get to follow your Mom"s path back to her homeland. It's a fascinating place full of the most wonderful people who have learned to do the best they can with what little they got, and still appreciate the joy of each and every day.
That sticky rice ith mango is not only Thai,lol..Im Ilongga grown up in Mindanao and thats what we alway eat tht as Merienda,We call it Ibos with Mango sometimes Brown sugar
Oddly enough I’ve gotten more anxious about that flight lately even though I’ve made it many times. It is a long trip. Or you could fly to a country halfway in between, see the city for a couple days, then take another flight for the second half to the Philippines
Jonathan is very genuine. He really like Philippines and the people. He is not staying here just for vlogging but he really loves the people. The fact that he interacts with the locals a lot. Not pretending.
He is one of my favorite Foreign vlogger besides Tagalog Kurt
its nice to see the siargao crowd is a mix of both foreigners and locals 🇵🇭👍
That’s the great thing about the lack of a language barrier here. We can all hang out together unlike many other countries with the language barrier.
No wonder why a huge influx of foreigners are frenzied in coming to the Philippines not only bcoz of its natural pristine beauty but the filipinos themselves who are truly friendly and chatty and most of all, the non-language barrier bcz english is pretty much widely spoken in the country.
Philippines has the lowest in terms of Foreigners. Unlike in Thailand.
