When you buy a No Limit album it had the coming soon albums inside…it was like a collect them all feel to it…me and my homies were definitely grabbing albums and barely knowing the artists..but every album featured all the No Limit soldiers on it so it was like buying a compilation album every time. We were all guilty of that. Some were total garbage but some were like hidden gems. Big Ed’s first cd was a great example. Skull Duggery was a great example of a garbage one. But it’s subjective. I’m sure there’s people out there that feel the opposite of those two. To this day I still have at least a dozen or so of these cds.

It kind of bothers me how No Limit, overall, is overlooked in most hip-hop conversations. It almost feels as if they were never even here. No Limit was E V E R Y TH I N G during this period. I was so obsessed that I'd buy the cassettes and CDs. I'd go to several stores just tryna find Kane & Abel debut LP because they were still operating independently and most stores weren't selling every single artist on the roster. I'm from the Bay so imagine going from Stonestown all the way to Serramonte tryna find Skull Duggery debut LP. When I finally found it, the packaging was all tattered because again, they were operating, independently. My favorite No Limit release would have to be Mystikal's _Unpredictable._ Whew! I used to let that CD spin on repeat religiously right before school. I'm not gon nitpick every single track, but that _jawn_ means the world to me. After that I love Mac's _Shell Shocked._ Bomb ass LP. Silkk's first and second LPs were bomb. You know Mr. Milller's (Master P) LPs were bomb. And they put a lot of work into the packaging. I was there for the anticipation of that Mercedes' _Rear End_ LP. Po' thang couldn't sing a lick, but the artwork was bomb (for obvious reasons). Kane & Abel always came though w/ a bomb LP. Nah, I clocked out by the end of 1999. I curiously transferred over to Cash Money. I didn't mean to. It just happened. I think Baby and them put a root out or something because how does a label like No Limit just vanish into thin air? I know that fans are fickle, but DAMN!

yes sir… 1998 was a great year… 1997 was one for the books too… that Tru 2 Da Game album and that I’m Bout It soundtrack had the hood in a choke hold that year… i remember going to Blockbuster Music after school to buy the movie on VHS 😂😂 it wasn’t on DVD til a few years later…. but my favorite No Limit album from 98 was most definitely Mac’s Shell Shocked album… thats truly a No Limit classic… followed by C-Murder’s Life Or Death and Fiend’s There’s One In Every Family…those are my top three picks from that year…. man… you had to have been off the porch around that time to really appreciate what was going on both those years ..

No limit records was one the big 5 region groups that put south hip hop on the map , specifically New Orleans/Louisiana, next to the hot boys , they push that south bounce sound , no different how Memphis push the horror core sound with the cowbell sounds or Houston pushing the screw sound, Miami always having its bass sound and Atlanta later pushing the trap rap/ crunk sound
