I would not say that NI is doing anything wrong here. Collabs with other companies can create a massive profit and promote your products. NI refreshed their Traktor software (which we waited for so long for that everyone forgot about it). Maschine can wait for a while, you will get a new one a few years later. Let them focus on the DJ software and hardware first for a couple of years to get back on track.
Sound designers and other producers complain to me that NI was too closed off and that's why they preferred Akai MPC Beats to use for business. But now they've opened up and think that was the thing that I kept hearing repeatedly about NI. What are people complaining about? Not having a touchscreen? I most definitely enjoy the fact that it doesn't. I also have to say that the clip mode upgrade was definitely a way to complement DJing on the maschine with that Ableton push feel. Sample/Audio per sound and real time stretching ability is still alot more that was given to users with no hesitation. I guess touchscreens is next?
I would jump for joy if they ramped up the potential for Standalone & allowed users to record their live jam / sketch song ideas directly into the Arranger, using the mute & sample Pads + Group pads... Etc... ~ ( We have been waiting so long for a significant update to the UI & Software... ) ~ There is an update coming apparently, but I'm worried it won't offer what pure Standalone users have asked for...
Noooooo 😡 I put a lot of thought and research into deciding on purchasing my Maschine plus instead of buying the Akai MPC one. After that kick in the guts I should’ve got the Akai
MPC is a better platform right now, at the same time that Akai is getting showered with praise the Maschine community is overwhelmed with disappointment
they have released sound packs on that platform, not like N.I are involved in developing their shit, but i do agree i was expecting more from maschine 3 update, like sorting automation out, PDC
Cheese Louise!!! It appears everybody has their panties in a bunch! Relax everyone... everything is going to be okay. NI and the Maschine + is going to be alright. You all can look at it this way... NI prioritized the desktop software first, whereas Akai prioritized the standalone firmware and no MPC 3 software update mentioned. The Maschine + still works, as far as I know. I'm sure more improvements will come in due time.
NI been on the downslide since they spent 2 years of dev time focusing on creating a splice clone and integrating that with maschine. Writing was on the wall then.
I think you're absolutely right I expected more from Mashine the software and it never came. Until the paid update. Disgraceful! I bought Pigments from Arturia 4 years ago, it was V2. They've just released V6 and the updates are still free. Arturia updates are always big updates on their synths (Microfreak/Minifreak/Polybrute/VST/etc) and yet Arturia is a small company compared to NI... NI is too voracious!
Native instruments use most of its resources last year to work on the new Komplete Kontrol keyboard, Traktor and kontakt 8. From what I heard, they will now focus those resources on a new maschine hardware unit.
NI ported their code to ARM Linux (MPC). Therefore, they can bring a new Standalone RaspberryPi-based device, like Ableton Move, or Maschine + v2 on ARM platform.
@mudi2000a yeh, they both did the same error: creating an Intel-based standalone device to do not port their code to ARM, then Apple Silicone is out, and they have to port a code anyway! LoL.
@@MyReasonToPlay Not only that... they laid off the division of Traktor Dj2 (Universal app) and back to Traktor Pro 3 (x86) instead capitalise that knowledge... they ditched and now here we are. Totally self-convinced "it will get better with updates" when it was never the true aim but a "plug box" that even so failed to become. It's sad...
Nonsense. Why people are so upset, because NI and Akai created a deal to have a small amount of the NI library on Akai MPC. You make out, that MPC has Komplete Ultimate Collectors edition, or that NI will be selling it off to MPC at reduced amounts. The libraries in the MPC are really very small, really small, which is why they are about $35 each. It's just a means of NI, to get its sound on other devices and then perhaps have those who use MPC to consider buying one of the more expensive Komplete series for their computer/DAW. It's strategic.
No, the big issue is NI has a history of not listening to their users and neglecting their own software . Not having this on maschine + is a big slap across the face.
@@alexsk86 I see your point. Perhaps there is an imminent update pending for Machine+. I've got a Machine, Kontrol 61 keys and have upgraded NI Ultimate Collectors Ed. most years since NI Komplete 3. It's not as though NI can't afford not to do it, they are easily the biggest software instruments company in the world now. As far as I was made aware, that the MPC versions are basically selected sounds from the NI library. Given that only three of the MPC sound banks have been released, it's hard to judge what is on the MPC and not on Machine+. As these sound banks are only small and about £30.
@@dubbylabby6068 I don't think NI are desperate, given that they're the largest software instruments company in the world and own other software plugin companies too, such as iZotope. Perhaps, they're getting so large, that they're starting to lose track of their loyal fan base. NI have managed to annoy most owners of Kontact for instance at one point or another the last few years.
I guess there are two possible ways now.. 1# native instruments and akai came together for the fight in the marked (ableton as the enemy), they work together on a new device to save the marked. 2# native instruments let the hardware go and focus on software only in future, they sell to akai and take a part in the marked.. i have no other answer for the move they do 🤷🏻♂️
@@eddie_arcadia absolutely. It's efficient and I love the no screen workflow. It's fire and takes skills to get to that skill level. Kinda like an MPC 1000. No computer monitor needed.
Good video... that's unfortunate. As a synth nerd, i'm disappointed that NI has become just a preset/samplepack factory. I can only wish, and i know this is too idealistic, that if they're gonna be releasing their sound packs and expansions on other platforms, at least they should improve integration between Reaktor and Maschine, so that it's easier to take advantage of the hardware and develop our own instruments for it.
This could well turn out like Sega … It doesn’t seem like a good sign, put it that way … My understanding is that these Play series are pretty limited engines? If so, not as bad a sign as if they were offering their best stuff on MPC … I’m not familiar enough with either MPC or Machine, though. 🤷🏻♂️
that seems like a good analogy.... i reckon NI is getting out of the hardware game, but will continue with their software like Reaktor and Kontakt - which are still fairly industry standard quality
NI seem to think that providing 144 sounds from the Play Series as part of the Maschine Central library is compensating for the release of the actual instruments on MPC.
I think the Sega analogy is pretty accurate. And... well, with all the political talk of tariffs and trade wars it makes sense to move away from hardware that has to be manufactured and shipped from overseas. Expanding their software / IP collaborations also makes sense. I think not having a rebate / discount plan in place for existing NI customers was a bad move on their part though. As an MPC user though, I eagerly picked up Nacht and have been loving messing around with it today. :D
Akai is listening to customers? lol not even close, there is a lot of disappointment in mpc user base, they released the 3.4.1 and have almost all the bugs that the beta had.
Akai will always be a Legacy Production Tool. It’s the Alpha and the Omega. But I love all the others. Except teenage engineering.
Exactly the same situation than it was with Kore back in the day. NI just stopped developing and supporting it.
Well, tbf, the idea of Kore has evolved into NKS, but yeah.

Now you know how Reaktor users feel ;)
