Place another floor next to the pillar, then remove the pillar and Place it in the new floor. Repeat until its at the desired height. Finally!! I'm so glad you went in depth about the pillar trick. Watched countless videos on this and everybody glosses over it and speeds up the process. Thank you for explaining it.
If you, like me, got here and were excited to build your first raft but then realized you couldnt lower the foundation, I have bad news: the devs patched it because it was "not intended". But I have good news!! There is still a way to do it: -you will need: a stone fence foundation, a pillar, and a foundation. -keep the sail on, and grab the fence foundation. Line yourself with the sail and walk forwards until the sail is going right through the second hole in the fence. -Put the pillar at the end of the fence foundation, in the center of the raft. -Place the foundation next to the pillar. It should snap right in place, at the correct height. -You can now remove the fence foundation and the pillar, and continue your build.

Showed us how to do the whole raft base in 5 minutes....other videos don't even get started until 23 minutes in. Thanks for the clear concise information. I'm off to make my first raft base.
I was having the same issue but I finally figured out that if you place the pillar towards the edge of the foundation, instead of the center, and then the next foundation diagonally to that one, it allows you to place it lower once more. From there you sort of make your way back to center.
I haven't played this game for about a year now and I want to start again. Raft base is my favorite. I would have never thought about isolating the steering area. I like that idea, thank you!
The foundations I place never seem to go down a level when placed next to a foundation with a pillar. It appears as though it's lower but when I click build, they're always the same height. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
@@Joe-ll3dn I figured it out. If you're having the same problem I was, all you have to do is snap the foundation in place when it looks like it's level with the adjacent foundation (how you DONT want it). It worked for me.

Hey, if you are still playing and still cant build your raft properly, I found the solution. To put it in as simple as I can, you grab a stone fence foundation, line yourself with the sail and move forwards until the sail goes through the second hole in the fence. Place it, then place a pillar at the end of the foundation, in the center of the raft. Then place a foundation next to that, and it should be at the right height. You can then delete the pillar and fence foundation.
@@CourierZhyx Thanks for the insight! I actually figured this out by watching another video. It works and is actually easier and faster than the other way imo

Sometimes when I have issues lowering the foundations I find that destroying the foundations all together and then placing the first one in a new spot seems to fix the problem. anyone else have problems with steering? the raft i built using the pillar glitch kept wanting to go sideways, where as the normal raft platforms i build don't seem to have that issue.
My idea for a raft base is a big base on a raft with lots of rooms for storage, a level so you can store your pets, on the top there will be a place for my flying pets to land!

@@hockshop643 Yeah man those are called Leeds. all they do is attack rafts lol what we do is we have the spawn areas for these guys memorized so when we get close we head closer to shore to avoid them. but if you can get the materials required for the metal boat they cant destory it. and you can build the same way on it!
@@Rodwenn ohh no wonder it didn't chase me lol. I'm definitely going to work for a metal boat, can't have that happen again lol
Thank you for the awesome tutorial! It was very helpful and a little time consuming, but I am really happy with the way it turned out! So happy your video was calm enough to understand and not blurry! Thank you!
Edit: Lol I kinda robbed giant beavers for this

Okay I'm in the middle of extending my motor boats with Tek foundations once I get that maxed out or large enough to build a mansion or a large tall base with at least 2 or 3 stories with a height between each floor large enough for an industrial forge and other big stuff im going for like the ultimate mobile base that practically does everything i want it to also is there a way to kinda make the metal ocean platforms attach to my mobile sea base and extend on what im able to build or can i combine motorboats turned into bases together to make like a mobile island
anyone else have problems with steering? the raft i built using the pillar glitch kept wanting to go sideways, where as the normal raft platforms i build don't seem to have that issue.
My idea for a raft base is a big base on a raft with lots of rooms for storage, a level so you can store your pets, on the top there will be a place for my flying pets to land!
Can this stope people from raiding my base
Here’s my problem, it shows it’ll place lower then the one before but when it places it’s still flush with the other
Had the same problem, just had to keep picking the platform up and changing position a little bit and it finally locked in just a bit lower than the previous platform
I tried this on mobile, but it didn't work. It went 1 step underneath but then it stopped going down. Has this been patched?
