LA agartha has such a good early game and it seems to be strong on paper and then you get to the midgame and your armies of heavy infantry and crossbows run into four vapors or arrowfend or something like that, and then you look into the nation's toolbox and all you get are weak elemental pathed non-sacred alchemists, skellyspam (or sundry death magics) or legions of mediocre undead from your national spells. The huge problem of the nation is that you don't have a deep midgame. And it's not something you can compensate for with a bless because you have mediocre tank sacreds, they hold lines well but generally don't trade well. The nation desperately needs Astral magic together your alchs into communions where you can get to higher levels of useful elements magicbut you barely have Astral access. Taking s4e4 on your God to get coins, and communion gear is basically mandatory.
The nation also desperately needs a good indie nature mage, to the point where if you see a lizard shaman or crystal Amazon (the other desperately needed path for later game is air) province you deathwar for that!
I have enjoyed the series, agartha is one of my favorite nation trios, and la gets too little love.
If you can afford an empower, Agartha already gets that E/S path for coins. Later on it definitely needs Golems to handle anti-magic & other astral based spells.
I agree with your assessment on the Indie mage. Its insane how badly you need them. I think Jades would be the most important, because they can get some neat randoms.
@@ZanGames Why do you say Jade's are the most important? W-N is nice but I always find the randoms to be lackluster. I never get the N2 version when i need to break into nature, you have native W2 and the D1 and E1 randoms are ok. It does open up foul vapours but since that is what you are already most afraid of on LA Agartha in the early-mid game, its a sort of handle-less sword....
Jade's are nice but I personally have such terrible luck with the randoms that I don't rely on them. It might be interesting if you intend to make a "post game summary" video to highlight and discuss targets or goals for the nation such as these indie mages

@@ZanGames I really like the casting series because you get more context over the map, and the caster generally always has something to show. I just wish Illwinter would build a spectator faction into the game that doesn't need the weird modded faction, and that can see all events and assassinations. Sure it would be a big event log, but I think people would get a kick out of it.
I feel like the foul vapors problem for LA Agartha is quite serious, and it's not clear to me how to manage it best.
One option I've been pondering is whether trying to kill a Pythium army with a mage focused army that basically does a bunch of point buffing on Penumbrals: quickness, SoG, Iron Warriors, perhaps Fire Resistance if you can manage it... And then has all the Alchemists who did that run, in the hope that you get off the field before foul vapors gets enough hits to kill you.
Its absolutely a serious threat! One thing that LA Pyth should struggle with early are singular hard targets, so getting a strong Tomb Oracle out early can do well versus it. As long as the Oracle is resistant to massed xbows...
Otherwise, definitely LA Agartha needs to transition to more undead / sacred options sooner than they expect... As seen here. Its a toughie, and I hate how many hoops the nation has to jump through to be normal. Honestly the first step in the right direction I think is removing the magic being tag from Blindfighters. Make it less of a hassle to mass them. Maybe give them a broad sword, or a special magical obsidian sword made of the same material as Sepulchral weapons.
@@ZanGames I kind of like the magic being tag, it's flavorful and makes them kind of special - rather, I wish they had 5 cold & fire res from living in the depths of the caverns - makes their encumbrance okay in both heat & cold, they can be used with chill aura units (def inspired by COE5 dwarfs lol)

I liked this series. LA Agartha is a nation I've wanted to try for a while but have never got around to yet. Looking forward to your Omniscience series and seeing another game on that crazy mountain map. I hope you're feeling better after the Dominions/players fatigue/disillusionment?
I'm being a lot pickier with what games I join and how much I commit to it. I also don't want to join any more "serious" games like tournaments, I don't want that salt & sweat. Dipping my toes now, not always on my main account either. Side effect I need to fix is I realize almost all the games I've joined are full greed builds.
I guess not caring as much means I'm willing to take more risks on the build. We will see if they pay off. Expect a lot of "So I'm just gonna rush const6..." in some future games.
I was going to say of all the decisions one could make attacking you and making a three way war against you is a poor one. But then I remembered that attacking you totally wasn't starting a war because that land was rightfully his. Your response was so unreasonable
Right? Him attacking me absolutely wasn't starting a war. I cant remember honestly the order of war declarations though. I do know that TC made a huge deal in discord and then deleted his posts. That might have prompted the others two jump in for free food.
recently started playing in a noob game again and man... diplo is wonky... but I will try to have fun and play in only one game
I think 1-3 is the way to go. No more than that, else late game is really a slog!
