@@inforunners I agree. A great general purpose ship, especially for FPS enjoyers. I just wanted to make sure people didn't go out and pledge based on features that no longer exist. Buyer beware and all that.
I was sad to see the Nomad didnt make that list, I know its cos of the price CIG put on it, but as a solo ship its the best starter imo. Especially as it now has the tractor beam mounted, super fast to move goods and it makes an excellent little scavenger ship.
I recently seen another channel's top 10 solo ship list where the Nomad is on the list. It is definitely among my favorite starters! It has the best starter interior too, which is a big plus😊. Plus it looks like my favorite ship from Elite Dangerous lol, so I love it!
Single seater, tractor beam, 3 s1 shields, bed and suite (no shower though, dunno why) external cargo, can carry small vehicles (including ROC) gun racks, has everything. And I like the anti-grav landing gear. You can set it anywhere, level or not, like glue. You'd think a "Nomad" would want to shower occasionally
One of the biggest bugs about the Nomad is it cant lift a dead body with the remote tractor beam. I think it's like this with all ships now with a tractor. It also overheats on a stock loadout so the first thing you do is turn off the guns until you get better coolers.
@@Damivit’s true I personally don’t really like the Nomad, I think the fact it’s consolidated Outland does colour my view. It is effectively a Ute, which should appeal to any Aussie, but in Star Citizen I’m not a fan of external cargo stowage. It also does everything I want a starter ship to do have an interior I can walk around and cargo space I can interact with and room enough for crates enabling box missions to be completed easily. However, the price point also places it right between the Avenger and Cutlass does reduce its position in a top 10 list at least for me. Is it better than an Avenger, I think it’s there is an argument that does place it above the Avenger in pure game play but, in my opinion it doesn’t have $20USD more gameplay than the Avenger Titan. Similarly , the Cutlass offer as much as the Nomad in game play plus more, for me the price played a part in my thinking as did the functionality of the Nomad against the ships either side of it. Now, I admit my thinking is subjective but I have tried to give, I hope, a fairly balanced explanation for my bias and the Nomad omission from our list. It is a solid ship and many people do indeed love it as a solo ship. I hope that helps provides some insight to my reasoning for leaving the Nomad off.
I'm a crazy person and I love the Reliant ships for solo play. I specifically see the value in the Reliant Sen. It is too small to be harassed for cargo, but with two crew it has guns and missile mode at the same time to be formidable if fitted correctly. It's planned to have multiple roles on the ship (other than combat and repair) and it has internal components. Besides the current bugs, I'm not sure why people don't like the ship.
Personally really like the reliant. My two biggest issues are it’s current fuel range which is comparable to a LF and the s1 shields when compared to its size/profile. Even if they just increase the quantum range I’d be on board one again.
@@vital-wyn1310 Aw man I've been ranting about that for months. Yeah it would make so much sense for them to have longer ranges since they have all that extra wing space to hold fuel. Then they'd have that synergy with the misc cargo ships. I'd also be happy if they gave the tana variant an option to hook up fixed size 4 guns on the larger mounts.
Because it’s a pretty poor ship tbh. Yes it looks cool but you don’t really get anything for having a second person and the ship is designed around that. On top of that it’s just a large profile which means if you do get in combat it’s easy to hit on top of all the other short comings.
The Constellation was my original ship from my 2012 backer pledge but the Corsair after all the changes made it vastly superior to combat missions and ESF's while still being able to make major cash in dropped cargo. The Connie needs a serious rework to modern standards.
Gotta give love to the RAFT, once they fix it to manage the 32scu boxes properly it’s gonna be a great solo ship. 96 scu, everything you need for an interior and fuel for days it has a place in the verse. It flys like a box though.
For solo now and on release, $85 Nomad is the only ship that has modularity before modularity, for fighterpilots a nomad can function as Fury's external quantum and jump drive, for miners nomad can carry a ROC, for medical game play you can put a C8R in the back, if you know how. For exploration Nomad is the bed, all you need to do is put C8X in the back, and put a X1 force inside the C8X. All the other ships are or only designed to do 1 or 2 gameloops or you have to get bigger and expensive ships that are not even released or working.
Yeah, I feel like the Taurus might be the dark horse for a few loops. That tractor beam and the fact that it can carry double the cargo, while just sacrificing the snub you wouldn't be using solo anyways, also means that you can carry a ground vehicle for exploring and STILL have room for cargo. Agreed with all the picks. Hopefully the rework on the Freelancer, one day, brings it back into the mix. I do like the Banu Defender, too. Not exactly meta, but great range and pretty maneuverable. Bonus you can log on it. I would imagine it'll have a bit of a gold standard pass whenever they decide to finally pull that pin out and work on the BMM
@@Needlesse once upon a time the ‘cargo bay’ was the snub hangar and the idea was you would have to decide do I take the Snub, the Rover or cargo although it hasn’t been the hangar for nigh on 10 years ( some of us still remember though).
Glad to see the 315p made the list. It's so often overlooked. It's far more than a smuggling ship. It makes a nimble scout and light escort for salvage and mining operations, while its tractor beam can assist in moving large cargo and ore bags around. It could be useful for convoys in future. And you can even fit a hoverquad in the underslung compartment. I think of the 315p as a pint-sized Cutlass: a great general purpose ship. EDIT: you overlooked the Hull B, which will be meta for local and safe system cargo.
For a Prospector(s), Expanse, & Hull-A (or some other true solo cargo hauler) operation, 315P(s) can help with exchanges, hauling, or distraction type escorting
These lists are so hard when trying to look ahead to release, thanks for having a go at it. I generally steer people away from the multicrew ships if they can only pledge one ship. Only for the fact that we don't know how much hiring crew will cost, and because starting funds are limited if they get in trouble and cant affort to fix a big ship. The Nomad does a lot, I was suprised it didnt crack the top 10. Is this because of pledge price?
@@NeedlesseThe Cutty Black is certainly a great ship, but it isn't a single person ship by stated crew size; therefore, it isn't a straight comparison (in my opinion, anyway). The Nomad provides more non-combat options for a solo ship offering 3x cargo capacity over the Titan, vehicle transport options (ROC, etc), and tractor beam, for only a modest increase over the cost of the Titan. For the combat-inclined, I would also recommend the Titan, no question, and the Avenger's modularity will be great. I just look at the Nomad for more industrial activities and it offers so much more in that role. I believe all three of these ships should be in a top 10.
@@FreedomFox1 I believe so, just because it's a solo ship and it does a lot for its price. I'm thinking along the lines of the game being launched and someone new is buying a single ship. A Cutty Black and game package might be a bit too steep in terms of cost, and the idea of supporting the game with a more expensive pledge wouldn't really be on their mind at that point (presumably). I'm curious how things will play out when the game launches and what ships they make available to buy with real cash at that time.
same here, but when will that happen? not for at least 2 years id have thought. put it this way, one theyve done the RSI ships (polaris, perseus, galaxy and zeus), then theyll start on the other x number of huge ships in thr backlog (bmm, nautilus, odyssey) - also they need to redo the cutlass blue, stalker and possibly the redeemer to be ready for bounty hunting features. maybe thr bounty hunting will push the 600i forward if we are lucky
Alrighty guys, remember this is all in good fun and commentary regarding our favorite jpegs. I mean no ill will towards Drake fans in all reality, and really do understand the attraction to them. That out of the way here is my personal reasons why I think you should reconsider your evaluation on most Drake ships (Vulture excluded, banger of a ship that one.) If this is really now and on release, not just NOW, i have some major issues with the Corsair being put over the Connie. I understand the attractiveness of black tar ha... I mean Drake ships, and am happy to try to cover the reasons why i think the Corsair is overvalued compared to ALL its competition, but especially the Connie. I will reference CIGs own valuation of the ships as suplementary evidence for the varacity of my claims amungst my arguments. The Corsair has the least real world value by far compared to others in its class. In game it is half the price of the nearest competition, so will be twice as easy to earn in game as any other. Its also only going to look worse in time, given that 2/3 of its direct competitors are due for reworks and improvements as well as have entire gameplay functions yet to come online. The Corsair, doesn't. Not only does it not have a unique skill or feature the others lack, but its missing basic assumed features for most ships, thus its affordability in game. It lacks any significant armor when Maelstrom systems come online, it has the worst sensor array of any of its (explorer) competition, and now that the Nursa exists, all of its competition can match what used to be its only real bonus(besides a bit more firepower). Its just... not worth it compared to the others in the long run. This, in all likelihood, is the best place in the games meta it will ever be in. For examples of what CIG values the Corsair at, here are the prices between it and it's competition in game: In game Prices; Corsair - 6,552,000 Connie Aquilla - 12,186,720 MSR - 12,285,000 600i - 27,231,750 As for the Cutlass vs C1, same deal. Here are the in game prices for the Cutlass and its direct competitors, with one addendum being that the Zeus Mk II CL has no in game price yet so I would have you note its priced WELL above the Cutlass Black on the Pledge store. CB=110, ZmkII=150 BEFORE its post concept price increase. In game Prices; Cutlass Black - 2,116,800 Zeus MkII CL - >1.36x Pledge C1 Spirit - 3,118,500 Freelancer MAX - 4,252,500 400i - 11,466,000 Drake, with the rare exceptions now of the Ironclad and kind-of the Cutter, is infamously cheap with ship design. They build cheap, without armor, without aerodynamics or control surfaces in mind, with the only bonus typically that they are more heavily gunned up than most ships their size. In lore there is an actual explanation for these traits, as well as why the more (literally in game) "modern" ships are better constructed, industry focused, and not much better armed (even worse in multiple cases now) than their competition. They started to "legitimize" themselves after their reputation as a piracy supplier got outta hand. Some of those I might actually recommend, the Vulture and Ironclad namely. But here we are talking about the Old Drake design focus ships like the Cuttlass Black and Corsair. Ultimately, the Connie stands to benefit from future systems and get even better as time moves on, it is well armored, made of superior maelstrom materials, has point-defense turrets, is due for a rework to bring it in line with modern RSI manufacturer interior standards and aesthetics (given what Scorpius, Polaris, and Galaxy bridges all look like, i am hopeful for more strutless cockpit yet to come), is beloved by the company's founder, has a better missile layout, a unique snub docking system, no giant weak points like the wings that blow off leaving the Corsair with half the guns and zero of the control it should. The C1 also stands to benefit from future systems unlike the Cutlass Black. It is better armored, made of superior maelstrom materials, has a highly mobile tractor system, has the best in class control surface design for when atmospheric flight is reworked, has more internal stowage and space, and has better safety and wellness features for crew. Literally the ONLY thing you sacrifice in either case, is a minimal increase in firepower, dependant om multicrew gameplay and so not to be truely considered in your Solo focussed video here. In the Connie's case with manned turrets that can actually aim at the same target as the pilot, a superior missile loadout, and an additional built in snub, I actually think it has superior offensive capabilities compared to a Corsair ultimately. Want my reasons on why I'd choose an Aurora LN over a Cutter as a starter next? Either way, I hope this makes for an effective change in pace from your usual Drake lovers. TlDR: Drake ships that are out currently are likely the best they will ever be. Almost all other manufacturer's ships are likely to continue to get better as more game systems come online.
If Chris Roberts love the Connie, that explains why it's just so good. Even comparing it to many of the ships on this list it has 4x times the dps, 10x the HP, and a huge cargo hold to boot.
I love the Pisces medical, but definitely it's an in-game purchase for me. It's good for bunker running and short reclaim timer, plus claim at small pads. Vulture is my go to solo ship that I've pledged. Salvaging (obvs), but also for delivery/small cargo, general tootling about and bunker running. For anything else currently in-game I use my pledged Taurus. I've also pledged for a Zeus ES for Exploration and a Galaxy for heavier hauling / base building / modularity. I figure those 4 (Vulture, Taurus, Zeus, Galaxy) will allow me to cover the gameloops I'm interested in and will help fund in-game purchase of ships (Pisces medical and probably a Ghost). I *so* wanted to love the Corsair, it looks awesome and I like almost everything about it, but I just found that it got damaged much more often than the Taurus when doing the same things.
Aurora LN vs C8X: Aurora LN can have 2 S2 guns on the wings and 2 S1 on the nose, S4 rack can carry 1 S4 missile or down to 8 S1s.... Has a bed, 1 LESS SCU and being external i dont really care. The pisces advantages being endless hidrogen fuel, the 2 seats and its free if you have a carrack in the form of the C8.... wich lets be honest, you dont use the extra guns on the C8X anyways..... and also the 4 internal inventory, wich i do believe will go away and the only inventory to exist will be the shared lockers... the inventory will depend on you using cargo space to put cargo boxes and load your stuff.
I feel like the 315p is going to easily overtake the Titan if it hasn't already. The only advantage the Titan has right now is the guns which is a big deal since fighting is the most flushed out part of the game for now. But.... the 315p pairs well with almost any industrial ship. For example collecting loose boxes from a hard deathed ship is easier from a 315p to a cargo ship than using any on ship tractor beam station. This is also why I think the tractor beam in its current config makes the fact that it can't load itself a non-issue. The cargo bay is bigger than the other small starters, but I don't see people loading it with anything but small boxes that handheld tractor beams are best with anyways. For salvage the 315p right now can help move stuff around for people, take more overflow, and later in game will almost certainly be a better scout for finding salvage. The scouting with the pathfinder/scanning will potentially help with mining also. The 315p is faster and has longer range too making it the ultimate errand ship. As more gameplay comes online that is not combat, the 315p becomes more and more useful as a sidekick. I know this is for top solo ships and most of my examples involve assisting others, but this is a multiplayer game so a solo person can help any org or group with this ship for almost any non-combat function now and more so when pathfinding/scanning becomes playable.
Imo alot of ships have their usage and character. If the leaks talk about a medical ursa is in the works i think any ship that can carry the ursa rover is very valuable if you are into medical stuff or want your own healing vehicle that can drive up close to hostile bunkers without being agroed by the turrets for now.
After flying almost all ships, and literally anything I want to, the Syulen, my started ship, is still one of my favs. Not a tough guy with size 2/3 shields but can hold its own on so many levels, and it’s bad ass. Def the best starter ship imo
I really enjoy the Taurus, I can do ERTs with a set of ADB5's and Panthers and steal the cargo. As for a smaller daily I like the C1 at the moment. Great videos. Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Algared dressed to impress, as usual!😊 Interesting list! I agree about having a hard time liking the Spirit. I just don't love it, for some reason, even though it is not a bad ship, in any capacity! I think the amount of hype turned me off. I always prefer the underdog, over mainstream and never ride hype trains! I like immersion, and role playing, so never favor "rule of cool" ships. However, where I favor explorers/touring ships, I am interested to see how the E1 turns out! The Connie was placed very well! The Corsair is the most used ship atm, I think lol.
I think the connie is in desperate of a rework. It was my favorite especially the Aquila! But it has aged quite badly. Hopefully we get a gold standard soonish.
@@Angelo_Nicolson I think the term "desperate" is a bit of an over statement lol. The Connies are my favorite RSI ships, the Phoenix has one of my favorite interiors, and I'm quite happy in both of my 2 Connies! They do exactly what they were made to do. The Connies will get a "gold pass" eventually, especially where they are the RSI halo ship and Chris Roberts favorite ship. However the Connies (like so many others) are victims of CIG's lack of development direction. CIG needs the desperate rework lol
Good day IR! Great video, thank you for this and your hard work! Also, volume is a considerable improvement! Im still full blast but i can at least hear you guys now. 😁
At 6:10 the Pisces variants all have 0.0% physical damage reduction right now, for some reason (nearly every other ship in the game has 50%+ physical damage reduction) making them not useful for any type of combat right now in the off chance that anyone has a single ballistic weapon, they explode very quickly. Otherwise the expedition would be an weak but not bad light combat ship in the current meta.
About the Corsair and Connie in the end of the video, i think the Constellation will get a HUGE upgrade in form and function when its reworked into current standards, it will need bigger corridors for npcs to even work, if ever... I like then both visualy, but the Connie fly better for my taste, the taurus being the obvious choice for solo runs, or even 2 man crew, perfect tractor beam placement to get cargo and move fast, i think only the raft will be able to pick 3x 32SCU faster and move on than a taurus, of course it wont fit 3x32SCU, but can do 2x32 and 2x24 in a hurry. The shielded bay is not reachable by the Tractor beam, but just put into the regular cargo grid, jump somewere empty, move it to the shielded area and move on if its a hurry loading situation. About the NPCS, in the current state its hard to imagine it working one day, they cant even react in bunkers, let alone perform in numerous ships. I wonder is one day, maybe ship internals and crew NPCS might be client side, that would be so much more performant..... server interefering in every bit of interactions inside ships is TERRIBLE, even doors are night and day when the server is awake.
Great video but I don’t see how you can include the Cuttys,Corsair,Constellation or the C1 in the list because of the more than 1 crew size in a “Solo” ship list. You said these will be great on release too but we will have things like engineering and resource management on release.Everyone is going to have a rude awakening when those systems come into the game.
I could easily see engineering effectively putting the Corsair and Constellation out of the solo category in most people's minds. They can still be flown solo, but running into trouble on your own will be less survivable: you might as well have brought a Hull B and get more profit to offset the inevitable bad runs. The C1 and Cutlass might be on the cusp, with their better evasion.
With engineering you have a bigger problem in a fighter or many one man ships because components are outside the ship so repairs will be more problematic. Although I see Solo as not being just a single player avatar. I expect and consider solo game play to include both the use of NPC’s and blades for automated functionality. I cannot say how many NPC’s each player will be able to have on a ship or effectively control/ give tasks too. It could be 1-3 NPC’s allowed per player it could be as many NPC’s up to the ships compliment that you can afford to pay wages for. That said I expect a Connie, Corsair sized ships will be very manageable for a solo player utilising NPC’s with or without blades. I suspect NPCs will be able to be set priorities which of course will also be modified by the NPC’s characteristics (which we may or may not be able to clearly see).
I agree with most of these. I do think the Connie and similar sized ships will be the largest soloable ships. 400i and Mercury might be slightly better than the Connie simply because they have the speed to run away (Mercury needs 3 size 2 shields, power some down for lower signature). Once the Hull B is in game it should make the list because it has the highest cargo capacity (384 scu) of any ship with a crew requirement of 1. Zeus will probably make the list once it is out. I am curious why the Freelancers were excluded? I don't like the way they fly (roll acceleration mainly) personally. Is that why they were left out or is it simply that they are in need of a rework.
I agree with Al, Corsair’s oversteer feels so much worse than the Connie to me. Connie still has double the hit points as well and they have the same size capacitors so the Connie starts out with a lot more shots per gun and of course has a way bigger missile loadout via the Androneda and all Connie’s have significantly more SCU carrying capacity
Just viewing this now, 4 months later, and your list still holds up, in my opinion. I would think the C1 is a good pick over a Cutlass, and both the Constellation and Corsair will still be rated highly for some time. o7
It seems like the Corsair would have been better off with a turret on the underside, rather than the sides. You could then let the co-pilot choose between two remote turrets, making for a decent 2-man ship (I love that the co-pilot can fire missiles from the remote turret). When fully crewed you would also have an extra bed for someone devoted to engineering, cargo, etc.
If its turret was on the underside it would have been too much like a Connie. Of course I still believe the Corsair, Redeemer and the Connie have way too much fire power in the hands of the pilot. These ships are designed as multicrew, and yet the turrets for the crew are significantly sub par compared to the pilots firepower. What helps these ships as soloable by a single player is the ability to repair components from inside the ship meaning an NPC could be on the ships as a gunner/ engineer.
@@algared6131 The extra turret makes sense for a combat ship that might need to dispatch swarms of fighters. But for an exploration, pirate or extended voyage ship the point is just to cover blind spots and boost overall defense. Moreover those are missions where you will often have need for crew to do something off-ship, and you will occasionally just have a lone pilot onboard. For what it is designed for, it would make sense to have decent forward-facing firepower, plus a couple of remote turrets that could be controlled by blades if need be.
If a ship has a Quantum drive it has a Jump Module only snubs lacking the Quantum Drive will need to be transported around excluding fuel limitations for smaller ships of course.
Not sure that is true. I think a quantum drive and a jump drive are two different things. A jump drive is needed for going through jump gates to other systems. I could be wrong though.
The jumpdrive is a module which slots into the quantum drive. See the Portfolio for Tarsus Electronics for an in lore description of jumpdrives and the history. You can also see the slot for jumpdrives in game that will be jump capable. Ships without a component slot above their quantum drive will not be jump capable. robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/15371-Portfolio-Tarsus-Electronics.
I have a Galaxy with the Medical moduble and a C8R - I plan on adding an Ursa Medical when it arrives. That's a very solid medical package until the Hope arrives.
The best solo daily driver in the future will of course be the Polaris, and I intend to prove it once it's out! Until then, the asethetics of the Reliant Tana just cannot be overlooked.
considering how longs its taken them to reorganize the 600i's interior (still havent gotten to it since announcing it many years ago) i dont expects a gold pass on ships before 2028 or 2029
Freelancer and Nomad should of absolutely been on this list. Freelancer gives exception cargo, carrying capacity, firepower and shielding compared to the others in its weight class.
Just in response to comments on the Cutlas Red and bunkers…. With the serious increase in lethality at bunkers…. Now needing that vehicle the Red loses a little use.
The Titan has 8 scu of cargo vs the 315p's 12 scu. So more than half of the 315p, and getting cargo into the Titan isn't an iffy experience. And at these small cargo sizes, the difference between 8 and 12 scu isn't a big hit in profits. On top of having more versatility. The 300 series is pretty fragile in my experience with it.
I was just goofing around with the A2 Hercules and while deadly solo with a large cargo since it can still haul every type of ground vehicle in game, if you just add 1 gunner it's firepower doubles and fully crewed it becomes a gunship with bombs. lol
I really hope to see functional AI crews being added to the crew sooner rather than later so ships like the Connie and Corsair aren't crippled by the new engineering systems for solo players. Sure multicrew gameplay with other players is a lot of fun but it doesn't seem practical to have these ships totally reliant on that. Even roles like the copilot on the Antares and the box mover on the Reclaimer will become dreadfully boring for real players and will be better suited for bots.
Can?, the answer is likely yes even for a Javelin. Should?, as with most things in SC, there are positive and negative consequences to all the decisions we make in the game.
A2 Hercules? It's a fantastic ship I played with one for a few days. You loose a lot of dedicated cargo space but you can stack those cargo cans where the vehicle's are suppose to be and you can still make multi millions with it. And with all the T5 gun mounts you have it goes from combat transport to a light cruiser.
@@jvoodoochild2755 I do t think a Javelin will ever really be able to function with a single player even if they can have a full NPC crew, I could be wrong, but I am not expecting it to be possible.
Arrow: good at fighting. No range, no internals for storage, no specialty gameplay. Pisces: Good at being small. No range, paper plane, no specialty gameplay Cutter: It's a good starter. Because of that, it seems a kind of mid long term choice when better ships become available. Still useful, but not great at anything. It will get you and some stuff or a small vehicle somewhere. Usually. 315p: A decent starter. Light on armaments, and no putting a vehicle in it. That said, it will do most of the "starter" gameplay all right, and it is a small, light explorer/smuggler. A longterm keeper. Titan: A great all-rounder. Among the best. No real specialist gameplay, but lots of versatility. Still a useful ship for missions in late game. It can eat most of the other starters. Pisces Ambulance: OK for early game stuff if you don't want to fight, and it will be a useful ship later. Cutty Red: A killer choice. More of a two player, but totally manageable solo. Great bunker runner, always going to be in demand. Eclypse: this will be an costly and difficult "starter," with no internal access or storage, and explosive, but expensive ammo, this ship is good for ERTs, and then will likely be quite powerful in group play. For solo play, questionable. Prospertor: if what you want to do is mine, this will do it. If you want to do anything else, not a good choice. Vulture: more useful than mining, as it pairs well with all the combat gameplay. Be better as a second ship IMO. Spirit: a top cargo choice for high-sec, and medium-sec. Medium lategame utility. Cutlass Black: A classic do-most everything choice. The red may offer better lategame value, but this is a ship that is very handy to get up to trouble Connie: good to solo now. Not going to be ideal to solo once Engineering comes into play. It will valuable as a multiplayer ship, but not so great as a solo ship as the game adds in other gameplay. Corsair: Another ship that will be in trouble if you plan on soloing it once the game systems come in. Questionable top choice for solo ship, IMO Still a Defender fanboi. It can't take a vehicle. It can't be automatically loaded with cargo, but can carry plenty, and defend it, making it a decent candidate for a smuggling ship. Huge range. Take a friend. Take four friends. Plenty of firepower, huge shield, amazing in atmo. No specialty gameplay, but nearly as flexible as Titan (more range, can't carry a vehicle, holds comparable cargo when hand loaded.) The new Alien ship is also pretty amazing. Hard to argue with range like that in a starter.
Totally agree on your top picks. Mid-sized ships will be the ones to aim for solo players, as they can do so much. More bang for your buck, in other words. For fast transport, though, the 400i ought to have been given a mention. It needs to be more nimble that it presently is. If CIG do that, I think it could rise in popularity as being the best handling ship in its size class.
No you can’t respawn in a Cutty Red, it’s a good ship for healing most other ailments, which is what Exe likes about it. Currently the only ships with respawn are the Carrack and the 890j although I speculate that once we have the Apollo we’ll see another differentiation between med beds in which case I suspect the Carrack and 890J may lose the ability.
Kinda sad to see the Freelancer Max got no love. Lots of cargo space for its size. Multiple beds. Internal components. Good range and speed. Decent weapons for size and class of ship. I know the visibility is something people complain about but I don't mind it.
I don’t think the Eclipse Bomber is a good solo ship. It has an amazing torpedo but like you said it’s costly to use. Its guns don’t do much DPS, it’s easily kited and has no cargo. It’s great if you are in the hardest PvE bounty hunting missions. Same with the arrow, great ship just not able to go far, and you have to do combat missions. For now I would say the rest of your list is good
Sadly, I think it is overpriced. Also when you consider there the 85x and M50 below the 300series in size I still maintain a 100series really wasn’t needed. Still it is possible to spawn it on platinum blue platforms at outposts (you can also store it)
The arrow hasn't been the meta since 3.18 when they fixed it's bugged flight model, the cutlass red hasn't had respawn for ages. The c1 is a great multipurpose ship, it can do combat, cargo, hold smaller vehicles (including a roc). You guys make great videos however, some of the info is excessively out of date
I think the Corsair is gonna suck once maelstrom makes combat require taking down components, given that the corsair houses ALL its components EXACTLY dead center mass and all the weapons for defending the ship, RIGHT NEXT TO THE AIRLOCK. try and simulate it out with talk and a picture of the ship and you'll see what i mean.
While I greatly appreciate the contributions the Inforunners make to the PVE game loop discussions, I feel like the lack of PVP considerations is gaping hole in their coverage. Like it or not, piracy and PVP is a significant game loop for a lot of players. This will become even more obvious when Pyro is released.
The first ships are the best value for money in the game though. Spending hundreds or thousands of dollars for jpegs that can be earned in game is not good value. P2w, sure, but not good value.
This list is a joke! The 600i right now is a very good solo ship, and it will be even more when the rework hits, which will happen before the release. And this is a fact. You can not disregard all the changes. You can not deny that the 600i will be way better after the rework. Better than the Constellation and the Corsair. And this isn't about my opinion or yours. This is a fact. And those single-seaters... Why? They can't be any other thing than a solo ship. The same goes for the Vulture or the Prospector. They were created to be solo from the start! There is no other option to start mining than the Prospector. The same goes for the Vulture. This is kind of stupíd. We don't have other options. It's a clear choice. No ship is the best if it's the only choice you have. 🤣🤣🤣
At 14:10 the Cutlass Red medical beds no longer support respawning and haven't for several years now (as of 3.15)
They are still very good for bunkers none the less. I mispoke when I said respawn. I should of just said heal. Thank you for the correction. Exe

@@Damiv Hatred? Rather strong word for ranking spaceships in a video game. And they did say that this is subjective.
Great view on the Reliants too. 🔮🔮
I like the Constellation over the Corsair for solo play, even though it does have more room to expand as you add players
You can just slam a snub in the cargobay anyway too.
Not really over looked, our top tens are really top fives which combine to give a top ten.
Other ships do its role better. Cutty black superior in almost every way. And on the cheaper side you can go titan.
@@JL-rj9fl Do you really think the Nomad is better than the Cutty Black, with a crew of one?
@@FreedomFox1 I believe so, just because it's a solo ship and it does a lot for its price. I'm thinking along the lines of the game being launched and someone new is buying a single ship. A Cutty Black and game package might be a bit too steep in terms of cost, and the idea of supporting the game with a more expensive pledge wouldn't really be on their mind at that point (presumably).
I'm curious how things will play out when the game launches and what ships they make available to buy with real cash at that time.
600i after rework will be my main daliy driver.
same here, but when will that happen? not for at least 2 years id have thought. put it this way, one theyve done the RSI ships (polaris, perseus, galaxy and zeus), then theyll start on the other x number of huge ships in thr backlog (bmm, nautilus, odyssey) - also they need to redo the cutlass blue, stalker and possibly the redeemer to be ready for bounty hunting features. maybe thr bounty hunting will push the 600i forward if we are lucky

Alrighty guys, remember this is all in good fun and commentary regarding our favorite jpegs. I mean no ill will towards Drake fans in all reality, and really do understand the attraction to them. That out of the way here is my personal reasons why I think you should reconsider your evaluation on most Drake ships (Vulture excluded, banger of a ship that one.)
If this is really now and on release, not just NOW, i have some major issues with the Corsair being put over the Connie.
For examples of what CIG values the Corsair at, here are the prices between it and it's competition in game:
In game Prices; Corsair - 6,552,000 Connie Aquilla - 12,186,720 MSR - 12,285,000 600i - 27,231,750
As for the Cutlass vs C1, same deal.
In game Prices; Cutlass Black - 2,116,800 Zeus MkII CL - >1.36x Pledge C1 Spirit - 3,118,500 Freelancer MAX - 4,252,500 400i - 11,466,000
Drake, with the rare exceptions now of the Ironclad and kind-of the Cutter, is infamously cheap with ship design.
I agree. I had a Connie Taurus and upgraded it to a Corsair and both are incredibly good.
Armor is not in the game yet so launching a Torp and expecting a 1 shot might not be a thing later on!
Another great video. Thanks guys. Corsair, c8r, nomad and my runabout is the 85x
corsair , c1 , c2 , lighting. cutty red, and cant really list anything yet for release because who knows what more will come out
What is it about the MISC Freelancer that nobody likes? It's rarely on these lists.
I think it is just overshadowed by "the latest new thing", where it has been out for so long and so many complain Freelancers needs reworking.
Aurora LN vs C8X:
Aurora LN can have 2 S2 guns on the wings and 2 S1 on the nose, S4 rack can carry 1 S4 missile or down to 8 S1s....
Cheers!
I've been messing around with the corsair lately and while I do like the firepower, I just find it annoying to fly. I definitely prefer the Taurus.
I have to admit I have had the same experience. I’ve had more fun flying the Connies than flying the Corsair.
Algared dressed to impress, as usual!😊
Interesting list!
Thank you for the kind words Lunamaria.
Good day IR! Great video, thank you for this and your hard work!
Also, volume is a considerable improvement! Im still full blast but i can at least hear you guys now. 😁
The Corsair and the Connie are very strong for PvE VHRTs. At least last time I tried them.
The Corsair can get 4 ad5b and 2 ad4b so capacitor isn't an issue and the damage is so big you use only few ammo per ships
Just viewing this now, 4 months later, and your list still holds up, in my opinion. I would think the C1 is a good pick over a Cutlass, and both the Constellation and Corsair will still be rated highly for some time. o7
Right now the C2 is a monster solo.
The cutlass above the C1? It doesnt hvae a bathroom.
Presumably there’s going to be a “Cutty Bedpan” workaround.
"Half the cargo?" Is the CIG site wrong, because it says the Titan has 8 SCU and the 315P has 12 SCU?
I have a Galaxy with the Medical moduble and a C8R - I plan on adding an Ursa Medical when it arrives. That's a very solid medical package until the Hope arrives.
C8R is so much fun! Love sound Olisar missions in it 🎉
The best solo daily driver in the future will of course be the Polaris, and I intend to prove it once it's out! Until then, the asethetics of the Reliant Tana just cannot be overlooked.
I'd include the razor EX for its stealth ability

Eclipse pilots: best I can do is pieces
The Cutter needs a News Van variant :)
Do you think the Hercules series will be a solo ship on release?
No range, paper plane, no specialty gameplay
Cutter: It's a good starter.
The red may offer better lategame value, but this is a ship that is very handy to get up to trouble
Connie: good to solo now. Not going to be ideal to solo once Engineering comes into play. It will valuable as a multiplayer ship, but not so great as a solo ship as the game adds in other gameplay.
Corsair: Another ship that will be in trouble if you plan on soloing it once the game systems come in. Questionable top choice for solo ship, IMO
Still a Defender fanboi. It can't take a vehicle. It can't be automatically loaded with cargo, but can carry plenty, and defend it, making it a decent candidate for a smuggling ship. Huge range. Take a friend. Take four friends. Plenty of firepower, huge shield, amazing in atmo. No specialty gameplay, but nearly as flexible as Titan (more range, can't carry a vehicle, holds comparable cargo when hand loaded.)
The new Alien ship is also pretty amazing. Hard to argue with range like that in a starter.
The SRV made me a lot of Uec to buy ships I never tried before
Totally agree on your top picks.
You can respawn in a cutty red?
No you can’t respawn in a Cutty Red, it’s a good ship for healing most other ailments, which is what Exe likes about it. Currently the only ships with respawn are the Carrack and the 890j although I speculate that once we have the Apollo we’ll see another differentiation between med beds in which case I suspect the Carrack and 890J may lose the ability.
@@algared6131 Thank you for clarification. It sort of sounded like he said you could in the video.
Always very interesting content!
Kinda sad to see the Freelancer Max got no love. Lots of cargo space for its size. Multiple beds. Internal components. Good range and speed. Decent weapons for size and class of ship. I know the visibility is something people complain about but I don't mind it.
Happy solo my Reclaimer, Mole, or Starfarer :). No probs. AND if I want a group up..already have the ship for it :)
Spawn in Cutlass Red?!? Must be a long time sins exe did bunkers.
For now I would say the rest of your list is good
no love for the 100i? damn
I expected to see vanguard serie but nothing and no alien ships either
no freelancer? crazy
Mighty Pisces wipes the floor with every other ship on this list... C8X4L1F3 💀💀💀
I got polaris for crew
Predixtion has to crucible... designed for the solo pilot or with npc crew. Things may take longer then solo but so do ther game looos.
I think I've given up you guys ever caring about racing.
Ok. The year is 2024. Why the f*ck is the other guy's audio such crap? It's hard on the ears how it keeps cutting out.
Im happy the MSR fell off this list. That thing needs a rework.
I’ll Be in my SRV
Wow! You two are terrible at this. Please make a table for contents and teir list
Why would a solo ship be good when its not good value allowing for the ease down.
Whats up? First AF
Have to skip the first part as value for money is important.
The first ships are the best value for money in the game though. Spending hundreds or thousands of dollars for jpegs that can be earned in game is not good value. P2w, sure, but not good value.
Release lol
