    Does anyone else suffer from mirror image dyslexia? I like your video and your instructions. But only to view, not follow along. How about one of you turning around? When you move to the right, I'm moving in the same direction, to my left, to keep up with your right. Then all mixed up, so not relaxed or slow, but flustered playing catchup. Do you watch and follow your videos after you make them? Most people don''t make videos for students, but for their fronts to look good. That's why I see so few backs to the camera.

      That's interesting that you put a name to it. When they face to the side it's easier to follow. But also if I'm persistent I catch on and listen, don't watch but do.

    I do appreciate the effort and time you both has dedicated to put together an absolutely needed and well represented Tai Chi video. Thanks for the library you both share with all of us. You two are lovely to watch together. I like how Veronica is doing the more basic modification. I like that this is not annoyingly flirtatious like other couples who post movement/exercise videos. Good Lighting, good audio. Please show us more. Looking forward to more of these. I'm working my way out of heart failure and my doctor recommended Tai chi. I am just starting with the fundamentals. About half way through I had to stop. But! Tomorrow is another day and I am going to keep practicing every day until I can move on to the next step! I am so grateful for the blessing you have to be able to teach these classes. I am looking forward to mastering each class and healing my heart as well. Thank you so much!

    What an outstanding introduction to Tai Chi - warm and welcoming and reassuring and clear. I'm 71 - and over the course of my life, I dabbled in several martial arts. More than once I tried to learn Tai Chi Chuan and -- frankly, soon gave up. I found it too cognitively challenging - couldn't seem to remember the movements from the time I left class to arriving home. A couple of years back, I began to practice Shaolin QiGong and Standing (Zhan Zhuang) at home. A year or so ago, I then joined a new seniors' class offering Tai Chi and health QiGong. I learned the Yang 10! Unfortunately, I no longer have reliable transportation, and so the discovery of your online training is a joy to me. Abundant thanks to you both, and to CSU Long Beach for the gift of this program.

    This is what I call real tai chi! Good movements and great instruction.
    One suggestion, not on your taichi movements, though. When you bow dont raise your hands. Keep them downwards on both sides.When you do the hand salute dont bow. Do one or the other, but not both. Otherwise you look funny. Thats the Chinese way.
    Good job!

      Thank you Stephanie. I appreciate you noticing and commenting on the context. It's something I pay a lot of attention to. It's great to hear how you are using this to help with posture correction. We use medical Tai Chi at SOHMA with patients to help with their posture as well. Did you know medical Tai Chi has recently become covered by most medical insurance under physical therapy benefits. We've been having a lot of fun developing and refining medical Tai Chi programs.

I have practiced all the movements you demonstrate in my Qi Gong class accept not how to use the movements in combat. My only problem is I'm getting left and right muddled! and end up on the opposite side to where I'm supposed to be. Nevertheless, I find it enlightening learning how the movements hang together in one flow

      Damon that's great to hear how you can see similarities in how I presented the material. Chen Man Ching has quite a legacy. We are working on putting together the lineage of all my masters and their masters. I wouldn't be surprised if one or some had direct contact or indirect training with him. It's fascinating to me how this oral tradition can be seen in such a way that someone can tell where they got the lessons. I'm glad you enjoy the series.

    This is great! The warn-up prepares one for the actual form. I didn't have to figure out anything like in other videos, or turn my back to face the same direction. This video made it very easy to learn the form quickly, graciously and smoothly.

    I haven't practiced Tai Chi in over 25 years. In these trying times, I cannot go to my Reiki or Craniosacral practitioner, so in coming back to Tai Chi, I am looking to find balance , reduce pain and anxiety, and hopefully find center again. Your videos are very simple to follow. Thank you for breaking down each movement in the sequence.

    I agree with others who have said this is one of best Tai Chi videos on youtube. With a teacher who goes at a slow, balanced pace this is great for all of us older adults( and little ones too!) I watched the first class with my daughter and granddaughter, easy for all of us to follow along.

      Lana it's great to hear that the videos are working for you and that you like the pace. We intended to create these in such a way that anyone could follow at home even if they did not have any prior experience. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. That's so cool that you followed along with your daughter and granddaughter!

    Unfortunately I have thinnig and weakness in my cruciate ligament so I can't bend my knee due to a cyst caused by severe exercise.Is there any move in tai chi which can help me strenghtening my curciate ligament.Thank you for your help🙏

    • @SHealingMartialArts
      @SHealingMartialArts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The challenge with the cruciate ligament is that it does not have it's own blood supply, so it typically does not heal well on it's own. However, you can strengthen and stabilize the muscles surrounding the joint to help compensate for the ligament weakness. Tai Chi is a great proprioception exercise and neuromuscular re-education exercise. Both of which help strengthen the weight-bearing joints like the knee which has the cruciate ligament. I hope that helps.

    If it isn't too long after these 2016 'instructive' vids to subscribe, thank and 'start' ... thank you very much! Especially, your instruction about what the 'walking' is before involving the hands and arms has been very helpful for me. PS. I am a 'horseback riding' person since I was a kid so I really like your 'horse' references, thank you.

    • @rusticrune9801
      @rusticrune9801 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As a soft internal martial art YES. AS a hard martial art for self defense YES.

    • @SHealingMartialArts
      @SHealingMartialArts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi I'm glad you like the videos. I would not recommend Tai Chi for women safety and self defense. However, it would greatly compliment other practical safety martial arts because of the internal aspects of Tai Chi that the external self defense martial arts often lack. Jiu Jitsu, Kempo, and Krav Maga are usually very good martial arts to help with women safety because of the practical applications, training, and sparring components. I personally noticed my sparring improve greatly after practicing Tai Chi. Like I said, Tai Chi alone would not be sufficient in my opinion.
