Bonus fact: The Maitland's Estate where the final shootout happenes is the same estate in Commando (1985) where John Matrix (Schwarzenegger) dispatches the entire Arius' army.
Eddie Murphy in the 80s was pure gold... BHC1 & 2, Golden Child, Coming to America... Me and my buddies watched those movies countless times. And of course I still watch them on a regular basis. Only a few weeks ago since I went through the BHC trilogy.
The super cop speech eddie murphy gave fun fact: judge reinhold pinched his thigh to prevent himself from laughing and the late, great, john ashton was trying to hide his laughter that's why you see him massaging his eyes.
Kinda funny how Axl laughs at the two people wearing the Michael Jackson leather suits and Eddie Murphy wears a similar one in his comedy stand up delirious
All of you have it wrong. It was because in the scene just before he scammed his way into the hotel by pretending to be a journalist doing an interview with Michael Jackson.
Serge: [taking notice to Axel's interest in the artwork] I see you look at this piece. Axel Foley: Yeah. I was wondering how much something like this went for? Serge: 130,000 dollar. Axel Foley: Get the fuck out of here! Serge: [laughing] No, I cannot! It's serious! Because it's very important piece. Axel Foley: Have you ever sold one of these?Serge: [proudly] Sell it yesterday to a collector. Axel Foley: Get the fuck out of here! Serge: No! I'm serious! I sell it myself! 🤣
All of Eddie Murphy's first 4 or 5 comedies are all classic, comic masterpieces to me. Some a little more dramatic than others. But, all can be re-watched over and over again without losing the humor or dramatic enjoyment! Happy New Year and GOD Bless Minty and all of our fellow Minty fans!
Beverly Hills Cop one of my all time favorite films, and had the soundtrack on cassette walking around town 13 years old blasting the Beverly Hills Cop tape and still sounds great on cd
That was great, Minty ! I saw it in the cinema when it was released ( we had to lie about our age ). I remember seeing Eddie Murphy interviewed on UK TV when Beverly Hills Cop 3 came out. It was very rare to have US based stars come to the UK for chat show interviews. The interviewer mentioned that the reviews hadn't been kind, and Eddie replied "You turn down the script, but they keep calling you. And calling you. And eventually they offer you a cheque _so big_ that you can't say no".
Gil Hill who played Inspector Todd. Was a cop in Detroit and then ran for mayor of Detroit but wasn't successful. And thanks to Gil Hill Richard Wershe AKA White Boy Rick spent 27 years in prison.
I really enjoyed this review Minty, great work. Also.....Love the "Axel F" music in the Commodore 64" game. Sounded a bit like the "Dial Up" tones at one point, very "Retro"!
My old friend and neighbor (RIP Al) met Eddie Murphy in Pasadena CA way back in 83 or 84. He said he was pulled over by a cop and Eddie Murphy was with the cop training for this movie.
After you mentioned that Robin Williams was also considered for the role amongst others, I was just imagining him playing Axel. What a different movie it would have been with Robins humour and also known to adlib his own lines in movies. I still very much enjoy this film to this day. But wouldn't it be great to see a Robin Williams version 😂
Beverly Hills Cop sounds like a good movie. I have not seen it yet. I plan to watch it. Thanks to you Minty. I enjoy your videos a lot. You are my first You Tube channel. Eddie Murphy is a good actor. Very funny. I like the list of actors that was on the list for the lead role. Having problems during filming. Seems to be a movie thing. That is life for you. Another great video Minty.
I was late to watching this. Watched it for the first time a few years ago and it’s easily one of my favorite movies. I’ve seen it like 8 times since. So easy to just throw on in the background
11:25 OMG thank you for keeping the length of that clip very short. My ears might be bleeing; whomever wrote that was high AF on something. Could you imagine being the poor parent of an 80's kid loved that video game? I'm thankful I didn't have kids, now. Granted, I'm an 80's kid myself, but I digress... 13:34 I don't care what anyone says; I love BHC 2! Naturally, it's not as good as BHC 1 but I agree it was a worthy successor to the original. Every now and then I get a craving and I will watch the first two back to back. I have all three of of the BHC movies; I received Blu-ray box set of them for Christmas one year (yes it was on my list!) but never play the third.
Loved this film being a 17 yr old ready for adulthood. I was obsessed with cinema and tv and wanting a career in a camera crew. I particularly loved the opening sequence where axl is hanging on as the ruck is swinging him around at the back. Great stunt work which I was in awe of
I can't believe you haven't done this movie yet you were saving it for just the right time.. but then again ots always the right time to watch Beverly Hills Cop😂
Beverly hills cop is by far my favorite eddie murphy movie i have at least watched it a thousand times and each time it was funny. My second favorite eddie murphy is the first nutty professor movie i have never laughed as hard watching an eddie murphy movie like i did watching those two.
11. Director martin brest makes a cameo appearance at the end of the movie as the hotel clerk when axel foley is checking out and ask for two robes to be put on his tab for billy rosewood and john taggart.
The fact I can quote the country club scene where he needs to talk to Victor Maitland about Ramone going to the clinic probably gives you a good idea how many times I’ve seen this movie. 🤣🤣🤣
This was on the other day so of course i had to watch it. Everytime it's on, i watch it. This one, and i also love part 2, i've never seen part 3 though. One of my all time favorites, as well as the soundtrack is greatness as well!
Still love this movie after all these years. Pretty sure I got to see this at the drive-inn when I was 8 years old. No wonder it's still one of my favorites. Don't mind the other 3 movies. Glad they got the 4th one done and over with. It's alright, but it's so hard capturing lightning in a bottle again.
Thank you for your thoughts on this incredible piece I only found this past year due to the virus!! I agree with your sentiment on the first two so I WILL WATCH the Netflix one!! Thank you Minty!! Happy New Year!!
Tysvm Minty! Have a great 2025, my friend!! 🎉 ❤ "Whachoo doin' with all these guns, man? I told you that's Phil, you liar. What's all the hostility Phil?" 🤣🤣🤣
1982 to 1988 there Murphy was on a major roll; 48hrs, Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, Beverly Hills Cop 2 and Made in America. He had The Golden Child and Best Defense in the middle there but he still ruled comedy action like no one.
I am starting to think some people dont realize that there are accents from around the world that make them seem like they are saying a name wrong when they aren't
Been watching Minty for about a year now and I commented a couple of times about his audio when filming himself as oppose to the audio when he just narrate. At this point, I think it's intentional or he just doesn't care. Good video Minty, as always!
This, and his deliberate miss-pronunciation of things, is totally to get engagement in the comments and boost the numbers. I love his videos so it's a shame he has to do this, as to be honest it does really wind me up.
Thank the movie gods that they chose Eddie Murphy to do this movie and not any of the other actors, especially the tough guy actors like Stallone. Watching this, listening to bits of the music from the movie in the background, brought me back to when I was a young teenager, the 80s was such a innocent time compared to what's happening now, especially in the US. Back when WE used to know who our allies in the world was, and who wasn't. We also had some of the best music during that time, so many from around the world, it was a fantastic time to be alive, wish I could go back and stay there.
LOVE that white and gray striped suit jacket Faltermeyer wore on "Top of the Pops". Back in 84, I could TOTALLY see Don Johnson wearing it on Miami Vice. Shit, I want one for myself.
I heard somewhere that Sly Stallone has been chosen to play Axel first, but he tried to tone down the comedy parts and be more serious; he took those ideas, and made what became “Cobra.”
@ItsGametime69 I don't know when it got changed but it was originally rated PG13 because at the time of filming Eddie Murphy said he was looking to stray away from rated r movies because he wanted his kids to see his movies.
Bonus fact: The Maitland's Estate where the final shootout happenes is the same estate in Commando (1985) where John Matrix (Schwarzenegger) dispatches the entire Arius' army.
Interesting. I was thinking they did look similar. 🤔
Holy shnikies, you're totally right! I just rewatched Commando and it's totally the same! Thanks for the insight on that! 😆💯❤️
Thought it looked familiar!
Commando was rad.
Thanks for the info, and for not saying Fun Fact, I hate that saying, it's so cringey!
Eddie Murphy in the 80s was pure gold... BHC1 & 2, Golden Child, Coming to America... Me and my buddies watched those movies countless times. And of course I still watch them on a regular basis. Only a few weeks ago since I went through the BHC trilogy.
48 hours and trading places too.
@@mrmaxcarter2306 oh jea... ofcourse.. Those are up there with the others. (forgive me I'm old)
i was waiting for him to mention Golden Child all along, isnt Axel Foley character in it ?
@@DGrann The character in Golden Child is named Chandler Jarrel ... "Jarrel, with a J" ;-)
I haven't seen Coming to America, I really need to, and I've never heard of Golden Child. I'll have to look that up
Axel spotting the two gunmen at the strip club while vibing to "Nasty girl" is a gold moment to this day
Dancing while conducting surveillance is a core memory for me

Isn’t that how it’s done normally?
I had a crzy GF back then who burnt me with a cigarette during the "titty" part. She thought I was a bit too excited about it.. haha
It's such an excellent and catchy song
Murphy chose that song because he wanted to meet Vanity.
Taught a generation (x) of guys how to Chair Dance 😂
One of my all time favorite films. RIP John Ashton.
IMHO this is Eddie Murphy's second best film, the first being Trading Places!
Third would be Coming to America
I agree 100%.
Merry New Year!!😂
This needs to be into a TV series.
Wrong 48hours was his first in 82
The super cop speech eddie murphy gave fun fact: judge reinhold pinched his thigh to prevent himself from laughing and the late, great, john ashton was trying to hide his laughter that's why you see him massaging his eyes.
Yesterday, I heard Neutron Dance on the radio, so I had to watch the movie last night. Then today, I get a notification for this! Great viddie, Minty!
Kinda funny how Axl laughs at the two people wearing the Michael Jackson leather suits and Eddie Murphy wears a similar one in his comedy stand up delirious
Duhhh that's the point 😂
He is sweet 😂
That was the bloody joke ! Duhhhh nothing to do with Jackson in this context.
Another purple one in RAW
All of you have it wrong. It was because in the scene just before he scammed his way into the hotel by pretending to be a journalist doing an interview with Michael Jackson.
Cobra is Beverly Hills Cop's evil twin.
The subject of Minty's future video. I'm surprised his name didn't come up in possible cast leads. Lol nevermind spoke too soon.
I want to thank you for creating such an entertaining channel. It is always a pleasure when a new vid pops up. Keep up the great work!
Have a great year, Minty. Thank you for the awesome content and for keeping the spirit of these films alive for younger fans.
Seeing John Ashton (Taggart) trying to keep his composure with Eddie’s super cop soliloquy is pure chef’s kiss!
One of the greatest films of all time. 👌🏻💯
The funniest part is when axel meets serge for the first time 😂
With Bronson Pinchot being very well known as Balki thanks to Perfect Strangers.
🤣
@@gregmeyer1805heard all of that as both characters mate 😂😂😂. Love that scene. Bronson stole the show.
you mean when Achhh---Achhhh---Achmel meets Serge
BHC2 main advantage over the orignal is the opener sequence with Shake Down which created a more action packed and energetic intro.
MINTY! Could you do a (whatever it is you do) on the 80s flick, “The Philadelphia Experiment”, please?
"Whatever it is you do"
Love that 😂
And also "The Final Countdown" 1980
All of Eddie Murphy's first 4 or 5 comedies are all classic, comic masterpieces to me. Some a little more dramatic than others. But, all can be re-watched over and over again without losing the humor or dramatic enjoyment! Happy New Year and GOD Bless Minty and all of our fellow Minty fans!

remember to call it 'Beverly Hillscop' in memory of Minty.
You're right, 1984 had a lot of great movies.
Saw it in the theater in '84. Loved it!
Bought it on DVD years later! Still holds up!
Me too! Have watched it over and over, funny every time.
Beverly Hills Cop 4 DID NOT DISSAPOINT!!!! 🥰🥰🥰!!!!
R.I.P to John Ashton, who played Sgt Taggert in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
Man I didn’t know he passed away in September! So glad he got to be in Axel F before his passing.
Was sorely missed in the 3rd entry, well said.

We will put that up there with Emperor magazine at 10:54.

That's what Stallone called it before he renamed it Cobra.
