What was so good for na this year was fly quest and tl actually beeing top tier for na standards and pushing each other. Even c9 in scrims was considered the strongest na team. That’s how a region gets stronger. Eu just had nothing this year going except g2
@@edenmurphy4295 Not at all, I think LCS fans had higher expectations for both Fly and TL, both of which had good performances against eastern teams, even individual game wins, but no series wins against eastern teams. Plus G2 could've also had a civil war match if any other LEC teams could reach 2-2. Since we had 2 teams reach 2-2, we were guaranteed to have a team not playing BLG. So get gud. To be frank though, LCS fans were just happy that we had 3 teams that were so far beyond the rest and competitive with each other, but mostly because they were finally executing macro. Obviously C9 completely crashed and burned at the end, but for the rest of the year we had a 3 teams that each excelled in one area, and were pushing each other to the limit. TL is the best at macro among them, and won games purely by being more efficient in map plays. C9 had by far the best lane phases, and for some parts of the year had excellent team fights. FLY played a few different styles, but ended up on teamfight ball comps, and that worked enough for them to have a competitive series against HLE. All three struggle with consistency, and I would place all of them a decent bit below G2 in current strength (G2 would've advanced to quarterfinals if they didn't troll baron), but having 3 teams right below G2's strength is better than having one incredible team, a perpetual 2nd place team that refuses to learn macro, and then 8 shitters who could be placed in any order apparently. One final note, both Fly and TL are struggling in this Worlds patch meta, because both have 1-1.5 year rookie midlaners, who have never played professionally when the current meta champions were good, despite them being staples in the past. So they have next to no experience in matchups like Syndra Orianna, playing against mids like Showmaker who have years of experience in control mage meta. Both performed really well into eastern mids at EWC in the ADC meta, so seeing the meta completely flip on them and both run it down at worlds has been painful.

My favorite Jankos quote in this episode, I listened to the podcast so I'm not sure the timestamp. They where talking abour ERL players and mid lane Jankos' response "Yep, Kind of, Exactly." Lol Love Jankos and they sackdown :)
Have to say sack down might just be the best thing that has happen in Western league esports in a long while. Other last free nation shows are bangers too but sack down is different. Sack down brings a level of comradarie and intimacy with the pro players that we have never been blessed before. The insights on the things happening behind the scenes is just an absolute privilege as a fan to have access to. As crazy as it sounds, yamato AND Dom bring so much positivity to the space with their authenticity and passion. I wish all 3 of you the brightest future, your content along with all of last free nation is an absolute gift to all of us❤
My biggest problem with EU level of play has always been the fact that we have insanely good players fucked by contracts or talking shit about players, I can think on top of my head for 5 players such as Selfmade, Nemesis, Upset, Rekkles, Perkz. These players who should be able to level up the playing field in EU are non existant for years only because they got fucked. People were defending G2 decision to jail Perkz and Rekkles, 2 legendary players from EU, but when Worlds come everyone in the last years say "Well ofc G2 are bound to fail, they have no competition in EU", but let's be realistic here G2 seems to not want to have competition if they are doing this sort of shit, which is such a lazy approach to be a winner. Of course there are other problems, which alot of people have pointed out such as GM's being mega incompetant and destroying rosters the moment they were built, maybe Bwipo does have a point that alot of players in EU are currently just paycheck stealers. Also the fire to be competative on a World stage has died in EU and it is only because people are using outside of game methods to "win". Korea and China just seems alot more confident in their roster buildings, in a sense where they are not scared to let Chovy, Knight, Canyon or Bin go here or there. If you want EU to do well you need to make sure you are getting the good players back in the region. For an instance a team should start building a roster that has proven names on and when they have most of them locked get Inspired back, or get Selfmade in or Neme in. Get Bwipo on VIT, when you already have proven bot lane in the face of Hyli and Carzzy, I am sure that Bwipo would love to play with Hyli again. No we will keep bringing people from ERL's, they will get better while there is not competition left in EU, haha joke ofc.
I mean people always want to know more about that year. Its the only successful year for the west so until there is another people always gonna go back to that when they interview jankos perkz etc.
@iwilldominate you for sure went through phases as a streamer and content creator. I feel recently not only do you seem more passionate when streaming but also positive, it could also be because you have been hanging out with caedrel/yamato recently vs thorin/monte (both for positivity and popularity). When the statue of limitations (however long it is) passes, you should invite Jankos again. He must be a mine of stories, and he will share it. Somethihg for Thorin and reflections.
Its actually crazy how many good players from EU around 2017-2019 just disappeared from the scene completly or are in ERL low. Kobbe, Alphari, Maxlore, Trick, Kold, Kikis, Amazing, Sencux, Shook, Neon, Vander, Woolite, Steelback and many more like Selfmade, Crownshot, Nemesis , Jiizuke just got shafted because of personalitys. M5 players ,probably some of the biggest legends in the game, are in ERLs instead of getting approched by teams. Imagine all these former players in the league as coaches, staff or even better still playing at a mid- high level. Since the franchise the creativity and stratigy of teams dropped, not only in the rift but also in roster building. Most rosters go for vibe and national representives for the orgs. The question becomes: Why do u need good vibes and good marketing if your teams suck ? Marketing, politics, reputation are the varibels for players trying to get in LEC teams.
@@thewhiteowl1184 The game was so different 10 years ago, even though they were legends at that point I dont think their knowledge would be useful at this point in time.
@@StanislavHronek Yeah I agree that the game and the skill are diffrent from back then. I still believe orgs could benifit from their experience as former elite players. That would mean Team Manager roles, player coaches, scouts, team directors and etc. teaching fundamentels of beeing a competitor. Most of the time you need these roles filled by former players to give the torch to the younger generation.
Alphari, Trick , Kold Are Coaches , Kikis, Sencux, Neon , Vander , Woolitr , Steelback Are still playing and not in Low ERL. They all competet at Emea masters besides steelback. Maxlore also coached , Amazing didn’t want to compete anymore, Shook as well. Selfmade is semi trying it’s not like he’s full tryharding anymore . Also you are talking about just for personality and so on. How do you think Team sports works , bad chemistry does not work , especially not in small 5 man teams. You are lowkey asking for random super team number 5 with big names and no deeper teambuildung behind it
As an example of the systems that Jankos is talking about ,in korea T1 and Gen G had ideas of starting a scouting program for players starting with ages 13 (obviously with parental agreement ) basically they scout soloq until they find an interesting player and if the family is agreeing ,they basically train them and make them part of their academy ,i know Joe (T1 CEO talked about this like 2 years ago ,no clue if they actually realised the project ,but the idea that they try to find players so young and promising ,shows how devoted they are to finding great talent )
I was thinking I couldnt be more sad after G2 lost. Then they talk about how eu doesnt appreciate the good players they have, they either leave for NA, become streamers or get benched, while in LCK/LPL they are respected become coaches and teams want their insight. EU has a shit format and higher ups are trying to make it seem good because of the costreams bringing more people yet they still deny people like dom the rights to costream. Yeah I am not officially even more sad, nice
Jankos is the only reason I am interested about LEC and I really hope he gets a chance in a good team. I am sure he can still be one of the best in our region, last time with TH just didn't click as it should. And tbh I think we need junglers like him to compete with asian teams, who can control the game and understand it well, not just skillful youngsters, simply because koreans are gonna be better anyway, it's better to have skillful players in lanes. Format is shit af, I hope other leagues are gonna keep 2 splits, that's the reason (and lvl of performance overall) why I prefer much more LPL and LCK over LEC
The problem with several good teams is everyon just measure success if they win. In a game like lol where theres such a clear win or lose everyone just wants the win. Bring back best of 2
Can we just make it simple- 1 Bo3 per week - 2-0 is 3 points, 2-1 is 2-1 points and we play a standard whole year league and then having season finals as the hype playoffs. How hard can it be?
One of the craziest things to me is that abbeddage is not in the lec anymore. I know he is not year typical star midlaner but he can bring so much to a team. Like we saw last year when he came into a struggeling gx and made them go top 2. Its just crazy that a person like that just doesn't play instead we get fake rookies like fresko.
50:00 about the whole contract thing, I get a team can sell your contract, but surely they cannot sell your contract for longer than the remainder of the duration? so after they signed time you would be a free agent
but they don't buy the old contract, only the possibility of breaking the old contract and they buy the player and the contract with the player is new and unfortunately on the same buyout terms.I hope I wrote it clear enough
The west won't ever win because of the overall tournament format. There is basically no international competition so how would they make any real progress? I for sure believe that if we had an open tournament format with Majors, a western team would eventually win. You see it in other games like the FGC and DOTA. Region dominance shifts and you see how that filters down to create a stronger region as a whole.
My whole life, I was involved in some kind of sports from training to watching. Esports are too chaotic. Greenhornes when it comes to business, player management, organisation structures, and competition. And especially leaderships. Biggest issue is that "meta" is defined by the small indie company that can barley fix clinet FOR PAST FUCKING 15 YEARS. Let's take biggest sport for example. In any of the big 5 leagues in football (soccer for Americans), if you win 34% of the points available, you are fighting NOT TO GET RELEGATED. In LEC, you go to the biggest competition in the world regarding that esport. Which is unbelievable. They need to have 2 league system like LEC first and second division. 8 or 16 teams each, and they play BO1, BO3, and BO5, two times each across the whole year. Make BO3 and BO5 fearless so we have more different drafts and creativity, and EACH game won is a point. For exampleBO5, if you win 3-0, you get 3 points, but if it is 3-2, you get 3 points, and the opposition gets two points. The first two get to go to the world, and the last two get RELEGATED. That is how you keep competitive edge. Every point matters. If you get relegated, less money next year, less exposure, less marketing, and viewership and competitive edge toward players. So when they finish first rounds of "best of" the first team goes to MSI, and when we finish the second rounds of best of, first team is the champion and goes to worlds alongside the second one. Do you need a third spot? Well, make it interesting. Make a LEC cup competition. All teams from first and second division play in the LEC cup where they play B05 in the knockout rounds. The winner of the cup goes to the world. What if the winner of the cup is the first or second placed in the first division? Well, then thrid place get to go. Easy. Also, there is no META in football. Every team have their style and unique way of playing. It is highly dependent on the coaching staff, management, and players that are currently in that club. No one defines the meta. When it comes to jailing players... such morons. That is COMPLETELY NORMAL. If im running a club, why the fuck would I want to sell my best player to my biggest rival just because he wants to go? No. Thats basically giving them a competitive edge, inside information, my fan base, and sponsors. When Madrid bought Barcelona biggest player and captain Figo, that was the biggest upset in football transfers ever. Barcelona fans literally threw a pig head from the stadium to the pitch. IT IS NORMAL TO JAIL PLAYERS AND WATCH FOR YOUR INTEREST FOR THE CLUB AND FUTURE. Being from the business side, marketing side, or competitive side. They are professionals, and they should know that going to the biggest rival in the league should be kind of a taboo. It's not unheard of or forbidden. But it's not something fans would appreciate. I'm a fan of both G2 and Perkz. And its been like that since they joined LCS. If Perkz went to Fnatic in 2020, I wouldn't be his fan anymore. He is my country man, literally seen the guy last year in the comedy club and we had a chat and drinks. He's a cool guy. But if you have a team you follow and cheer for, no player or management is above the club. LoL Esports suffers from a lack of good organisation, consistency, and being controlled by the company that can not be regulated properly or fix their damn client. They have shit ton of content. They have shit ton of ways to get new fans, fix the player base, and organise and standardise. But new Lux skin is more profitable.
Of all the things finding the fault in german labour laws is wild to me. Like GMs and Managers as well as Player Agents creating 5 year contracts and then deciding next year they no longer want the player and not having to pay a contract where both parties agreed to because on party no longer feels like it is supposed to be the issue ? There are so many other options in that sentence alone to improve this. Kind of weird take for me to be honest.
Inspired and Hans went to NA because of their contracts with Rogue - Both had one year left, both wanted to leave - Hans had like a 2 million buyout and Rogue wouldn’t sell him G2. So he left to NA. As did Inspired (Also Inspired had a lot of rumours of toxicity around him).
Fingers crossed for LEC 2025 🙏

2015 2016 Jankos holy Fck I mean Sven was insane but Jankos would’ve been crazy
Would Jankos ever move to NA anyone know? Team Liquid come get this guy
Keep it up!
Dom looks at least 10% smarter while talking and holding a pen
Came here from Dom's stream
Intro music sound like one of those naughty dvd's intros.
Guys, Yamato is VERY curious about this one 🧐
It came out of nowhere
GOATS
He does what???? 1:12:07
bruh, that scrim winrate
Jankos is the only reason I am interested about LEC and I really hope he gets a chance in a good team. I am sure he can still be one of the best in our region, last time with TH just didn't click as it should. And tbh I think we need junglers like him to compete with asian teams, who can control the game and understand it well, not just skillful youngsters, simply because koreans are gonna be better anyway, it's better to have skillful players in lanes.
Format is shit af, I hope other leagues are gonna keep 2 splits, that's the reason (and lvl of performance overall) why I prefer much more LPL and LCK over LEC
The goat
"i want to go out with a bag*" fixed it
Yes please
BANGER
The problem with several good teams is everyon just measure success if they win. In a game like lol where theres such a clear win or lose everyone just wants the win. Bring back best of 2
Can we just make it simple- 1 Bo3 per week - 2-0 is 3 points, 2-1 is 2-1 points and we play a standard whole year league and then having season finals as the hype playoffs. How hard can it be?
That Raycon logo looks almost identical to Origen's xdd
maplestory mentioned
i came on dom’s stream
best one so far
IWD flaming teammates and not including Piglet? That a new one
100+ years old on the screen right now
That's just Dom
@@ramilgarifullin3702so the comment is correct
Thats not even true lol
Uh oh. Dom said "cretins" 44:18
Been hanging around Thorin too much? 😂
Totes ma GOATs
Young pro players should watch this episode and be educated on signing contracts.
why the end of this one got me tearing up though 🥹
Forgot to ask about 22 summer finals rip
