hi Richard. I did a similar job back in 2004 for a great chap who worked for over 20 years for my father. I was asked if i would take him to the church yard on his favourite tractor that he used to drive for us towing our 4 tonne trailer like yours. I m afraid i didnt do much more than just a good wash of both tractor and trailer. I remember the under takers making a special plinth with brass clamps to hold the coffin onto the trailer, we also had a black sheet over the trailer floor first and no side boards on. It was about 3 miles to the church from our farm and i remember being told to go really slow especially down our farm driveway mainly due to the potholes i had to drive through. I think the under takers were concerned the coffin might work loose and i d tip it of the trailer, needless to say, all was ok on the day! Good luck
Great tribute to Dave - He spent years in Agriculture and I'm sure would appreciate all the efforts made by you and your Family. It's not about being pristine, just needs to be Smart. RIP Dave.
Hi Richard, First I think you are doing a great job for Dave, This is just me I would blacken the wheels of the trailer I just think that it would look really nice as I say that is just me, Dave’s couldn’t have chosen a better gentleman to do this job what ever you do Richard it is going to be A OK 👍, I know you said you wouldn’t video any of the funeral and that is right. But maybe one photo of the coffin on the trailer. Well Richard you take care of yourself and stay safe.🛠️🚜⭐️⭐️👍 PS it is looking just great you are a fantastic man.
Cracking little job on the trailer mr c, i’m sure you dad’s watching over you whilst you paint that trailer and is very proud of the job you and the boys have done … crack on
Hi Richard, the trailer looks nice, Dave would like it. I thought you were going to show a milking video at first, I enjoy milking videos. I never miss a video CRACK ON
Keep up the great work mate, the trailer is looking a treat. I can feel that you are really trying hard to get it right on the day and you have already made him proud. You can show your emotion, you're not weak for showing how precious memories are, and I certainly had a few today at the show, thanks to you. Be honest and true to yourself and respect your limitations, when you can't do any more on the trailer, don't panic, you haven't forgotten anything, you've just ticked off that job on the list. You can't reap any more, when the harvest when all is already gathered in. I hope you have the chance to have a cool IPA and relax. 👍
Why? To make it even harder to move the heavy coffin in and out? The side panels are removable, so adding some Astro Turf (slippery) looks nice and makes transport easier. Work smarter, not harder.
Just an idea. You could leave the sides on the trailer and put a layer of straw bails on the deck to raise the coffin to a more visible level. room for flowers around as well.
Looking good. The varnish made a big difference, but touching up those top rails really finished it off. Now just put some light tire shine on the tires a few days before the day, and it’ll not have looked better in the last 20 years.
Thats looking nice now Rich. You will also need to wash whatever tractor your using too🤨.... but I think you should contact the family/undertaker to ask what they think or would like. But you probably know this anyway.
I know this is off topic, Richard, but have you considered planting a couple of spread-out rows of willow trees to help with your annual flooding? Willow roots are huge, and they suck up water like you wouldn't believe. If you google for willows in the UK, I think you'll find some good info about this.
Tom, yes i was thinking very early seventies, our local blacksmith made us a trailer pretty much like that one in the late sixties. It also had those sideboard protectors to protect it from hits from the fore end loader. Tye made similar trailers with a round drawbar to stop treads catching the drawbar when turning.
Main seal at the back of the engine does go in them yes you need to break the tractor to replace that rocker cover leaks to yes gasket behind the oil filter housing to a good mechanic can get it all sorted for you but it money
Forget about astroturf it’s not a mobile greengrocer it’s a farm trailer sides off . Don’t black wheels it wants to look natural and it is not disrespectful .
Can U not tow the trailer with the Massey Ferguson the one U just bought. Back that would be nice and you could send a video or photo to the person U bought it back off
Just a suggestion but for some video I do see the rooftop of all your sheds have seen better days but if it’s too much or your too bissy don’t bother I will still like your videos lol

Bless you mate you have done a great job
Morning funky farmer, You’ve done a marvellous job on the trailer, it looks like a proper honest farrrrrrrm trailer 👍
Fill the trailer up with some rectangular hay bails that way the cassette will sit above the sides of the trailer.
Why? To make it even harder to move the heavy coffin in and out?
The side panels are removable, so adding some Astro Turf (slippery) looks nice and makes transport easier.

Good morning Richard from sunny Cornwall. You are doing a grand job.have a nice weekend. Take care
Looking good. The varnish made a big difference, but touching up those top rails really finished it off. Now just put some light tire shine on the tires a few days before the day, and it’ll not have looked better in the last 20 years.
Now get the lights sorted a few marker lights and it will look cool
Well done lads, nice and shiny again .Richard you’re a legend ❤
Charlie Marshall would be impressed 👍
The trailer looks really good. That is a well built trailer.
Respect.😊
Trailer would be honoured by putting it back to work.
And it'll make you proud to tow it.
Sounds about right for the amount of varnish you used. I'd have priced you for 2.5 litres a coat . Love from a vintage decorator x
Best of luck with everything on the farm 👍👍👍
You have my upmost respect Richard.. hope to shake your hand one day.. stay safe 🏴

Just digging ditches out, will have the same effect!
Remember to do the back door
the trouble is muck is the killer you have another trailer you can use for muck use that one for logs and fenceing
Put your Marshall trailer with Ian Pullens bale trailer. See then how time moves forward
i bet its older then 45 years, im 46 and from '78. good job on it.

Main seal at the back of the engine does go in them yes you need to break the tractor to replace that rocker cover leaks to yes gasket behind the oil filter housing to a good mechanic can get it all sorted for you but it money

I'm not so sure, Dave might have gotten a great chuckle out of a ratchet strap
Forget about astroturf it’s not a mobile greengrocer it’s a farm trailer sides off . Don’t black wheels it wants to look natural and it is not disrespectful .
varnish all of it or it will rot on the unvarnished bits three or four coats
