What could be more satisfying on a Sunday morning watching a Ford/New Holland Tractor Ploughing, with an ole Lan' Rover in the background 😁
    Craic On 👍

Thanks Richard and Harry really enjoyed that. I do love the smell of a freshly ploughed field. We have bind weed in our garden, been doing my best today to mow it down, along with the grass which grew up to 9 inches or more. Our new lawn mower is easier to use and more reliable. Saw your Land Rover in the video, I hadn't been in anything but a Land Rover till I was 8, excepting buses, trucks and trains. Keep the great content coming! :)

Hi Richard, I know you and your father like me have a passion for mature trees. For me there is nothing more breath-taking than to walk through a forest in the in the autumn when the trees are showing off their majestic glow as the leaves turn to red and gold.
In the autumn of 2022 I collected some Horse Chestnut Seeds ( conkers) and potted them up with a mixture of soil and dead leaves. I left them in the shade on a concrete slab behind my garden shed and forgot all about them. That December I had to go into hospital to have emergency surgery. Last summer still recovering from my op I took a walk in the garden and was surprised to find that most of the conkers I’d sewn had sprouted. Still not fully fit I just left them to overwinter.
Yesterday I checked on them and I am delighted to report they are still growing strong. So today I got up early and planted seven of them in a large circle in some featureless council parkland close to my home. In remembrance of a friend who shared my passion for trees.
I am hoping these seven trees grow to maturity as they will provide an exciting place for children to play and a great place for the local dog population to take a leak.
Perhaps this autumn You and young Harry could try this out and maybe encourage others to follow suit. It doesn't have to be conkers. Walnuts, Hazelnuts, Acorns, Beechnuts and Sycamore are usually easy to find but whatever grows locally. The great thing is it costs nothing and it is so rewarding to see the nuts germinate.

Ground is really wet still but if you dont plough it it will not dry out. We get huge lumps of sandstone on our ground. The plough does not like them.

Hi, that's another very good video. Harry did a great job. The manure spreader looks very good. Why didn't Harry come along while plowing? When does the silage start? Does Harry have a TH-cam channel? Keep it up both of you. It's always nice to see you.👍🚜🚜

I often wonder why you seldom see Horizontal ploughs instead of the more common diagonal ones, with the traditional ones you end up with Dragon's teeth either end, I suppose you may do the Headers and Footers to finish off or not bother.🤔

I was wondering about economics of self ploughing Vs contractor? 2nd hand plough a few thousand and the McCormack would pull a 4-furrow? Diesel + TIME (the killer, maybe).

Ragwort and groundsel are related species and the cinnabar moth Caterpillar eats both. Ragwort is Senecio jacobaea and groundsel is Senecio vulgaris.

Bindweed is in northeast Nebraska as well. Glyphosate will take care of it as well as 2-4-D. It’s a terrible play though

I hate field bindweed. We deal with all the time as well. Bur cucumber is also pretty frustrating; faster to grow and spread but more destructive in a single year.

you and the commenters are both right the Cinnabar moth caterpillars Newly hatched larvae feed from the underneath of ragwort leaves within the area of their old eggs. The larvae absorb toxic and bitter tasting alkaloid substances from the food plants, and assimilate them, becoming unpalatable themselves / as for groundsel t larval and population survival tends to be reduced hope this helps
