Bought this set about a year ago from letbricks. Awesome design ! I see the tender centipede design is a bit different, but the version I bought also navigates the tight curves very well.
Thanks for the great video! we just bought this train but it was without the battery. can you please tell us what we need to buy to motorize it? thanks!
There are multiple different big boy models available, so please check which one you've gotten. If you managed to purchase this model though it is only sold with all electronics included. So if you are missing some please contact the reseller.
That is correct, Due to the tight radius of lego track I had to make some design compromises to the locomotive. You can also see this on the tender where the 5 centipede axles are also mounted on a pivot instead of fixed.
@@huntermentch Currently there is no option to buy the 3d printed drive rods. From this site you can only download the files required to 3d print the rods yourself. Alternatively you can get a drive rod kit from trainedbricks, this also works together with this big boy (version 2). (the image on the site is from my older version 1 big boy) trainedbricks.square.site/product/morningstrummer-s-big-boy-pack/65?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false
you can get them here: trainedbricks.square.site/product/morningstrummer-s-big-boy-pack/65?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=4 The link is to a complete kit for both my big boy models(they share the exact same rod layout), if you look further into the store you'll find individual rods to purchase.
This locomotive is my own design, if you're interested in building it there are 2 options. 1. You can get ONLY building instructions from rebrickable.com (€20,-) this way you can build it using bricks you already own, or source the Lego yourself. 2. As a complete kit (Chinese bricks), I am working together with letbricks/lesdiy to sell this model as a set. They are a company based in China sourcing the pieces from several Chinese manufacturers. This cost around $220,- not including shipping. You can find direct links to both these options in the video description.
Hi. I bought JIe Star the Big Boy and want to motorized it. Can you give the link to show how to do it? I tried do by myself but can't handle with some gear issue.
I can't help you out with this one sadly, the jiestar big boy is a completely different train than mine. I also don't own the jiestar version so I don't know about it's internal workings.
@@eognue Yes, In the video it is driving on original Lego 9 volt rails. (it is driven by a power functions system though) This was also one of my design goals, that you don't need special parts or track to drive this model around, as that gets real expensive real quick.
There are 2 different options for custom drive rods. I've made a 3d printable version which you can download here: www.thingiverse.com/thing:5222528 The other option is to purchase this drive rod kit from trained bricks: (on the site it shows my previous model, however the rods work with this model as well) trainedbricks.square.site/product/morningstrummer-s-big-boy-pack/65?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=4
Just bought this off LesDiy, so exited, is there a sticker sheet or something to add more details, noticed on your running on r40 video it had some decals, just wondering if there’s a way I can acquire them.
I have provided them with the proper files for including instructions, and I know they also want to include them. However I haven't gotten the confirmation yet if they are included. The decals seen in the video where printed on a regular printer with sticker paper, this doesn't create a good result though, hence them not being there in the rest of the video. (the r40 part was recorded a couple of weeks prior to the rest)
I've had contact with them and currently (at the time of writing this comment) there are NO stickers included. Contact me on facebook, as I currently do have some available.
You and I think alike, I'm currently working on a 800 class, and have interest in building a 9000 class after that. Especially getting this wheel arrangement to navigate lego's tight curves seems like a fun challenge to solve. (preferably without articulation)
Don’t buy this it’s a faulty design save your money the motors don’t work and the battery pack with it doesn’t even give a connection if you want this a s a Lego BUILD OT YOURSELF!!!! 😡
If you check the video description, you can find a link to Rebrickable. Here you can view the parts list and purchase the instructions for this model (€20)
Exceptionally well done!...I never thought a lego model train could be so finely built/detailed like an actual HO/OO gauge model. 😎
NO FREAKIN WAY DUDE THATS AWSOME!!!
when you see the lego version in action you realise how the original functions its articulated design is geniues for WWII
I've watched this 7 times, it just keeps getting recommended
Thank you so much, I want to get this but wanted to see it in action first, Very happy to see it moving and how it well it handles turns.
now that's what they call a train set curve. look at how it corners lmao
nice build

This is even more impressive than person I saw who made a Minecraft Lego piston
The M2HB in question
How is it train look so much smoother and faster I'm trying to get mine to be in since with both motors and these traction tires aren't helping either
wonderful
Nice build. Where did you put the L shaped connection in it?
Is that 9 volt track

Does Lesdiy sell it with power functions? Or do we have to buy them seperatley.
Yes Lesdiy sells it with the motors included.
keep in mind though they are a Chinese manufacturer, so no original lego bricks.
In reality bigboy rear driver set is rigid with boiler

How long is the locomotive it's self and the tender by its self
By themselves the locomotive is 58cm and the tender is 31 cm.
Connected together it is 87cm

In fact mine won't properly work on original lego curves like urs is
Was this train made using only Lego?
It is designed to be build using 100% original lego parts. Though I also have 3d printed drive rods for it to make it look more realistic.

Не думал, что из Lego можно собрать подобное. У нас в России такие наборы наверно не продаются?
