I LAUGHED SO HARD I woke up my wife. I had headphones on so it was twice as loud as it should've been BUT! !!! I made to 1:08:45 where MR.BBI talked about a... well you all watch and tell me, have we all known at least one of those in our lifetimes? As they say out in Minnesota, YOU BETCHA! Great video, Im under my F`150 which has the worst RFI -EMI in my Kenwood, Tk8180 whichever one, noise Ive ever heard. But I'm bonding the SHT out of this truck like you suggested. Let ya know how it goes.

Hopefully you have a newer f150 and not the same problem as everyone with the mid 90s f150
It's the fuel pump creating it's own rf signal and it is picked up through the antenna.
Ferrites and bonding didn't do anything to stop it.

I run a Wilson 5000 mag mount on a 06 Jeep commander. I was having issues with swr and stray rf on my mic. I used 1/2 inch ground strap and did the hood, trunk, fenders and doors. I then put 2 1 inch ground strap on the right side and left side from the body to frame. I also redid the ground on motor to body with a 1 inch and from exhaust to frame with 1 inch. Swr is 1.2 with amp on. Also I have a lot less noise in my receive on my radio. Glad I did it!

Hey buddy, what about, and I only ask this because I got a bunch of it from an abandoned storage unit. For the lug or eyelets where it makes contact with metal frame/body, etc. Could you use Liquid Electrical tape over the lug and bolt? Rather than paint? Again I've got 7 bottles of the stuff is why I ask. Would love to use it. This guy was some kind of marine mechanic/electrical guru. Just a guess from all the Raytheon, Dpeth Finders, Fuse Blocks, huge toggle switch boards, VHF, and tech equipment, in this unit. Loads of stuff. Now I've personally used it in marine applications such as fuse blocks, toggle switch boards etc myself, its been suggested for ions. What do ya think? Can I use that painted over the hex bolt and lug?

Back in the 90's we learned about bonding because we had a ford ranger that that would die every time we keyed my uniden grant and 667v, 1.2:1 swr but the rf would freak the trucks computer. Lots of bonding with braid from some old rg213 and issue solved. And people swore we we jumped to a sweet 16. I miss the old days...

I've done bonding in car audio for years but have never thought about doing an intensive bonding job for RF. I have never run a mobile bigger than a sweet 16 back in the day either. All of my bigger stuff was base. And that's more what I'm getting back into. However, I may have a chance to pick up a nice 16 pill mobile soon and I will definitely be using your tips on RF bonding along with the electrical bonding I would normally do for high current draw applications. Good info here!!

I do have clicks in reception with turn signals and a random tick under certain engine conditions. With all the computer crap these trucks have, im not surprised. I know by nature GM was known for crappy grounding. Im going to try your suggestions and see if it helps. From your explanation i understand better how RF works. Thanks again.

Effectively......good grounds and grounding for both electrical continuity and radio frequency functionality is not only important, it it is VITAL in great radio transmission. It has everything to do with your receive and transmission. Just.... like proper grounds and grounding conductors in residential or commercial installations,. it is essential for safety as well as proper function of electrical systems. You can have all the AC or DC possible, yet without the true continuity of grounds or neutrals, you are preparing for failure and the possibility of hurting yourself or someone else. Antennas are dependent on great grounding and RF planes in order to produce the mirror effect of your signal input. Your site is appreciated and maybe someone can accept a tip or two for their personal installation.....Billy, Albq. N.M. 3 / 18 / 2023

fantastic video BBI ... one question I plan to do the braid and the ring terminals and may solder the crimp area.... are you putting the solder on the ring / bolt hole area so the copper isn't touching the steel for corrosion??? I am going to do a Regular cab pick up truck and my power will only be a stock Anytone 6666 and a mag mount K40 ( the old truck lip style with mag mount) so I don't think I have to go to the extreme you did

I could shut the back door and made a sorta beam out of my van LOL . Sorry that guy stopped the vedio on the truck , would have loved to see the end results on the antennas , dual or single . Thanks for the video. I am putting a radio in my truck for the first time sine 1975 when I was into the CB during its heyday. You are very right about multiple opinions on grounding and bonding. I am a simple guy and when they argue, I just ask them to show me. I was of the opinion that vertical metal didn’t matter as much and I wasn’t planning on bonding the doors or the fenders. Now I am thinking that might be a good thing to do. I like that you even bonded the fuel door. You are correct, “no half-assery “ haha. All the best!

Looking forward to doing this to my Aspen, not looking forward to this. Thank you very much again for the knowledge. It means alot to me and many of us. Also, on the bonding bonus, I didn't think of gas door, I thought, for some reason, spare tire....

It's like a steel grate that you put in front of the rear window to protect yourself from material in the back from flying through the rear window if you brake hard or hit something. Just Google, what's a headache rack on a pickup truck.
