As a fan of KsE for over 20 years now, I've almost immediately connected their lyrics to Christianity. Read some of the lyrics to songs like "To the Sons of man" (directly taken from Prov 8:4), "This is Absolution", "Breathe Life", "For You" , "Rose of Sharyn" (taken from Song of Solomon 2:1)just to name a few.
There was always a religious connection! They are from my home state of massachusetts and i grew up listening to them 😊 "The Call" - Killswitch Enage.. one of their most intense religious breakdowns on the disarm the descent album! The albums title itself says it all! The burning question remains.. how much is TOO much to give? Do your wings have the strength to carry on? When we seek redemption, how long will we wait for deliverance? Jesse was always bringing the religious themes into his lyrics and I love it
"Seek me (for comfort), call me (for solace), for the end of my broken heart.", it's a broken, lost person and God calling out to seek Him and He'll heal your broken heart. That whole song, to me, feels like it's about the lost and broken coming to Jesus/God to end their broken hearts.
Well done Bearded Christian! Being a Christian myself and a big fan of Killswitch, I resonate with your message. I also see the Christian message in Quiet Distress, among many other of their songs. I'll never forget these lyrics: "The victim becomes the victor in the end!" How many of us keep our pain deep within and wonder why we get so angry?
Rose of Sharyn is one of KSE's songs that's clearly telling about Christ. Because Jesus Christ is referred to as the Rose of Sharon, a name that means "God-like". The term comes from a Hebrew phrase that means "a flower of the field". In the Bible, the phrase is used in Song of Solomon 2:1, where Jesus says, "I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys". KSE changed "o" to "y". I cried in the part of the song that says "I mourn for those who never knew You" and "It won't be long, we'll meet again. Your memory is never passing"
I had the chance to meet Jesse Leach and Adam D while they were performing a Times of Grace show in Dallas, TX. I've never viewed KsE nor Times of Grace as Christian bands, but I know from meeting these guys that they are believers in the metalcore genre, and Jesse uses his Christian faith and the brokenness he's experienced to write his lyrics.
Awesome, I watched a couple interviews to see if he would mention it but none of the interviewers seemed to notice the themes in the songs - so grateful to hear your experience meeting him. You can see this influence in a number of the songs on this album, I will be releasing a couple more videos on this soon I am sure. Thanks for getting involved mate.
When I got saved in 2013, it was a radical prophetic encounter, immediately following “Always” played in my head, and it will forever be a profound song in my faith. I don’t care what anyone says Killswitch I can feel the Holy Spirit in some of their songs. Like, bring me to my knees moments in tears.
I love this song. Such a beautiful message. It may not seem like it at first but it reminds me that even as a sinner-broken, burdened- Jesus died for us. He accepts us.

Im sitting here, listening to this, tears in my eyes. I love KSE. Im born again. going through life with Jesus, and the brokenness and all the hurts... The healing takes time, these encounters in between are moments where I feel all the noise and voices have to bow before the Him opening up His wounds... Wish i had the words to articulate verbally the language in my spirit.
As a true fan of Killswitch Engage I believe that their lyrics and music rise above religion and actually cause the unification of all religions and all people regardless of any diversity that normally can cause separation from one soul to another simply because of spiritual beliefs.
That leads down a path that has good intentions. . . with a very bad destination. Global religion is coming, and it's Satanic. Not overtly Satanic no... but 2 Corinthians 11:14 “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” and Daniel 7:25 “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” Lucifer brings a one world religion using the FALSE light. Beware of that.
Thank you so much! ❤ I love Killswitch Engage and I am a devout believer. I have been struggling with life a lot recently and this has given me hope again 🤍

I played "I'm Broken Too" in my car one day while in a Walmart parking lot. My ex-girlfriend pulled up coincidentally, and approached my car. We started talking while this song was playing. Strangely enough, we got back together. Whether or not the song had any influence on that situation, I'm glad regardless.

Anyone immediately connecting KSE’s lyrics to Christianity, really have little to no knowledge of biblical theology or doctrine. You’ll find that for a song to be ‘Christian’ it has to be ‘Christ-centered’. KSE’s lyrics promote self sustainability, the strength within, overcoming by self, which is a gnostic principle. There are some nuggets of spiritism, however the overall theme is one of an ecumenical, all-faith encompassing spirituality. With an emphasis on man-centered salvation by effort. If you were to say, that KSE have Catholic sentiment in their lyrics, then I would agree. As the Catholic Church was built on a syncretic mix of traditional pagan religions, and the iconography of 1st century Christianity. However, sound exegetical biblically ‘Christ-centered’ lyrics? Nope. Way, way off. Hence, the definition is not accurate. Jesse Leach is more of an ecumenical figure, who takes a lot of biblical verses, and alters their context for his material. To fit self glorification. So, again, can’t be considered ‘Christ-centered’ or actually Christian. By definition. Incidentally, I was a metal core fanatic prior to being saved, and still listen to KSE occasionally. I know whereof I speak. 👍🏻
Hey dude! Appreciate your message. I actually think we are on the same page. I don't have watched some podcasts with Jesse. I don't think I agree with his theology, and most importantly what makes me unsure most about even his out "salvation" is his language in podcasts. He, unless he has had a change of this theology, also believes that as far as I know many paths lead to the same location (salvation) which I also strongly disagree with. So, honestly with you with this. But really it's the same with any music that is "christian" I don't lit there and look at the doctrine of every singer, I listen to a song and if I get a lesson from it, I run with it and use it for my walk. I have been listening to PlainChant music, I don't agree with Catholics approach on child baptism, but man that music moves me. But yes it should not be miss understood that I do not agree with his theology. To understand the approach of the channel is this: 1 Corinthians 9:19 "Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings." I also do something similar with anime. I don't necessary agree with anime, but I also have taught spiritual lessons from it, as people who like anime need a way for people to relate with them and bring them to the gospel. The point of this is getting atheist or agnostics to be inspired to think about God. I have other videos that then focus more on the Bible. Same with Papa Roach, you can see I have videos on there about them. Will also do some on POD and other artists. Ultimately, we need to learn to eat the meat and spit out the bones. God managed to speak to Balaam though a Donkey, and what Satan intended for evil God can intend for good. I think some artists don't even realize how some of their lyrics can point to God. There is an artist called InMe. They have a song that had me in tears but I know it's very unlikely they were thinking about Christ about this. But hope this helps. I was surprised at how much you had to say on this so thought I would give you a proper response. Ultimately we can't trust in anyone who is online, who we can't see in person, we have to always be weary and take everything with a grain of salt. I am not saying Jesse is some Messiah, just using references from the world to teach, I am making one now from an episode of Dragon Ball Z
@@beardedchristian Hiya, thanks for the reply, and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. 🙏🏻 I agree with what you’re saying, 100%, basically, the Lord can use many means to lead us to Him - in fact, music was one of the ways for me, and it was the distinctive ‘spiritual’ messages that KSE in particular that had a profound impact upon the direction I was lead by The Holy Spirit. 🙏🏻 I can’t argue with the uplifting message that we do hear in their music, and whatever works for an individual to get them through a difficult time is great; I suppose though, being born again, and being versed in False churches/teachers, Christian cults, the WOF charismatic mess etc, I’m just too aware that music is utilised disingenuously under a ‘Christian’ banner at times. I just don’t want people being duped; they can know the truth, and still listen to and enjoy the music, but at least they know. The reference to Balaam and the donkey was excellent, incidentally - a point well made! There’s a fantastic documentary on TH-cam by a pastor named Spencer Smith (who I don’t agree with on everything) it’s called Third Adam and it’s in several parts. One of these parts goes into contemporary Christian music and worship music, and how ‘Gnosis’ is used to stir up emotions of the congregation, who enter a deep emotional state and are spiritually vulnerable, similar to Kundalini practices in Hinduism. I believe that most music can have this ‘gnosis’ effect, to whip up one’s emotions - KSE certainly did that to me, despite the apparent spiritual undertone of Jesse and Howard’s lyrics. Im probably not making as much sense as I want to, haha, you’ll have to excuse me. I tend to either go into too much detail, or not enough. I could go on, but I would recommend the Third Adam series by Spencer Smith, my friend. It opens your eyes further, to the great deception at work in this age, even with the music that sometimes seems so innocuous. 👍🏻 Anyway, to answer your other question, I’m from Wales in the UK. 🏴 The home of the Welsh Revival of 1904-05. In fact, Evan Roberts’ home is less that 8 miles from me, here in Carmarthenshire. Thanks again for the reply, and I’ll be subscribing to see more of your stuff. 🙏🏻
@@beardedchristian I answered the first part in the other reply, haha. 👍🏻 How did I come to my faith? Long, long story. After a life of struggle, depression (I was diagnosed as having ADHD only last year), fornication, drug issues, drifting aimlessly, the Lord came to me first in 2015 when I was seeking answers. First he led me down the Truther path, where I learnt so much about secret societies, the elite, etc. Then I was on my knees in 2016 after my marriage failed and became a single parent, and asked The Lord Jesus to save me, and forgive me, and to help me because I couldn’t go on…I felt the Holy Spirit move in me, it took my breath away. Praise be to God. It’s been a battle every day, though, my friend, the struggles don’t end with justification - sanctification takes time, and trials to even out those rough edges. Every time I fall, He’s there to pick me right back up with His Word. He is faithful, even when my own faith is wavering. 🙏🏻
@@mechaishida7588 Waw, we are very similar, same thing, athiest, depressed, ADHD, went down truther root with conspiracies and also spiritualism for myself - meditation and crazy diets. Had some miracles happen in my life and God baptised in 2015. But there was a lack of true repentence and Biblical teaching in my life, so in 2017 I really gave my life to Christ (as much as anyone can say they do with our weaknesses) and God baptised again. I got married myself 4 years ago now so feel for you on that one my friend, can imagine it was not easy. But look if you ever want support or some guidance I do online zoom studies. I am based in London myself. I even lead an in person small Bible discussion but it's very surface level. Welcome to join that online if you ever want. Cheers, Mike

Where are you based BTW? How did you come to faith? Would love to learn more
@@beardedchristian Hiya, thanks for the reply, and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. 🙏🏻
I agree with what you’re saying, 100%, basically, the Lord can use many means to lead us to Him - in fact, music was one of the ways for me, and it was the distinctive ‘spiritual’ messages that KSE in particular that had a profound impact upon the direction I was lead by The Holy Spirit. 🙏🏻
I can’t argue with the uplifting message that we do hear in their music, and whatever works for an individual to get them through a difficult time is great; I suppose though, being born again, and being versed in False churches/teachers, Christian cults, the WOF charismatic mess etc, I’m just too aware that music is utilised disingenuously under a ‘Christian’ banner at times.
Anyway, to answer your other question, I’m from Wales in the UK.
How did I come to my faith?
