Living in a small place can be difficult if youre not organized, watching your place is nice because you keep only what you need in a organized way. There are many options for people who want to live alone in a big city, and its nice to see that this place works so well for you.

It appears you are not a keen cook but a small microwave above the induction cooktop and a tiny fridge would allow you to bring food home for reheating later. Leaving your tiny apartment to go for a walk in the fresh air to get a meal is good for your physical and mental health but in wet or very cold weather it might be nice to have an alternative. A shelf above the washer could hold a mini fridge and storage for microwave utensils.

I would build a tall platform bed that you could put your desk underneath as well as a small dresser to the side. That should free up enough space for a chair to lounge in when you don’t have to work. Then you add a ladder and railing for the bed!

Was just thinking the same thing! There does seem to be a lot of ceiling height and it's wasted space. Putting a mezzanine in would also free up floor space for a little fridge. I would also box in the wasted space above the washer-drier to make a cupboard. Then he wouldn't have to borrow a saucepan!

A lot of people have brought up the lack of a fridge and I'd want one also. The other two things I'd want are curtains on the windows and a TV. When I'm working at home, (non-Zoom meeting), the TV is a companion for me. Just hearing it in the background gives me a bit of comfort. That washing machine, I'm guessing it's a washer/dryer hybrid is great. A mini-fridge, curtains, and a TV and I'm set.

Curtains would just take up too much space and make the place look more cluttered and smaller. No one can see in, so there would be no functional reason to add them

I'm wondering why you think a room could only be filled with useless junk? It could be good books, music, videos or many other stuff for hobbies! And nice hobbies can enrich your life! By the way also a small appartment could be filled with useless junk, even if it's less. So it's not about the appartment size, it's about the person which lives there. And I think living on the minimum with just focusing on work doesn't really make happy.

Wow this is so amazingly self-sufficient despite being so small! The only thing I would add is put a shelf on top of the washing machine so that I can stack up a mini fridge on top of it, then it’s complete!

I find it odd the micro apartment building doesn't have a communal laundry room for tenants. He can then get a mini fridge in place of the huge washer/dryer unit and a book shelf instead. Perhaps they do, but he doesn't wanna use communal washer/dryer.

I am very impressed on how not only small his apartment is. But how organized he keeps it. It's like not cluttered at all. Almost like perfectly clean. Surprised he's even got a washing machine in there. But what I think makes his apartment look too small as his bed that doesn't look like a twin-size bed. I think he had a twin-size bed. And make it look a lot bigger like a dorm room or something. But I like the apartment

I have always liked such small apartments, in them you start thinking about the organization of space and teach yourself to be more careful, such a dwelling is very Cozy!

Interesting. I like that you have a washer in your apartment. Even in big apartments in the U.S., we have to go to a separate laundry room outside the apartment. I wish more apartments had washers inside the apartment. Your life is similar to mine as I suspect we have the same or similar job. The biggest negative is that you eat out; you don't cook your own food, which down the line may have negative health consequences. Thanks for showing your apartment.

i can't imagine eating food like this often. i'd need a fridge for fresh veg and fruit. that washing machine takes up a lot of space. each to their own, and if he makes it work for him that's great.

My dad wore a suit and tie 7 days a week (1/2 day work on Sat & church on Sun) when I was growing up. Unless we went out to eat after church, he NEVER sat down for a meal in his suit and tie. The last thing he did in the morning was put on his jacket and one of the first things he did when arriving home was take off the jacket and tie and hang them up. Can’t imagine living alone and not taking off the jacket when arriving home.

I was more surprised not by the size of the apartment, but by the tiny portions of food. Maybe for a man weighing no more than 60 kg, without any physical activity, this is acceptable, but personally, I even have a breakfast larger than a similar diet for the day.😅

When I was in college I lived in a micro apartment. I started out living in the dorms, but there were a couple mean girls who did everything from steal my clothes from the washing machine and threw them in the trash to slashing all 4 of my tires. When the dorm wouldn't do anything about the things they did, I moved out. But the only place I could afford to live were micro apartments (they used to be dorms for the college until about 40 years ago they were renovated into tiny apartments). In my dorm room turned apartment, I had a toilet and shower, kitchen area with a small fridge under the counter, and a living/sleeping area. It only had 1 sink and no closet. But it was all mine; I had more privacy, and no one knew where I lived other than my friends. Rent cost half as a proper 1 bedroom. I could afford either the micro to myself, or a 1 bedroom with a roommate.

my condo unit here in the Philippines is a bit bigger at 13sqm. but the feel is the same. bathroom, bed, sink, cabinet, and a place for my PC, and that's it. :) great for living alone.
your place is even better because it is designed to have a spot to cook and even laundry.

As someone who is also looking at his next lease appartment, this looks really cool. I don't care about much the extras. Everyone is trying to scam and honestly they pay 2,000$ for just a 'basic' apartment in lot of places, but, rarely anyone visits or sees the inside of those anyway. It may seem spacious to have more room but in the end you don't usually need it and it rarely gets used, except in some situations. Most people are only looking for a small place that has all the amenities needed, but there are only house or pricy apartments. That is why while I would never move to Japan and don't speak it, I like the way they have automatic systems and it seems a bit anti social but it's still ok.
