It's crazy how EXO has insane vocalists like Chen, Baekhyun and D.O. all in one group. Plus Xiumin and Suho who can carry songs and even starred in musicals. Not to mention the rappers/dancers who have such unique voices and sing well. SM knew what they were doing when they put EXO together.

SM is really seriou about the vocals, even their “non vocals” got lovely lovely vocals. And, I sooo love SHINee’s vocals. All five members actually have very distinct vocal colors why I was able to distinguish them apart even before I became a fan, why their harmonies are also so beautiful.
Also want to add, SHINee KEY’s vocals are 👌👌👌, he’s part of the vocal line since debut.And!! Minho.. Minho’s low notes are 💕.
def do a TVXQ special. they set such a standard even before SuJu. they were such a powerhouse as 5, unmatched in their hey day.
SHINee Onew is not classically trained. He wanted to try Opera and trained for either 6 wks or 6 mos., I can't remember. The first time he performed "Nessun Dorma" was in 2011. Initially, SHINee had three powerhouse, insane vocalists: Jonghyun, Onew, and Key (who I don't think gets the credit he's due). However, with the tutelage of Jonghyun and Onew, Taemin quickly became number four and rose to greatness with this solo work. Subsequently, Minho also further developed his vocals, and SHINee became a group of five powerhouse vocalists, 5 rappers, 5 stunning soloists 5 dancers, and 5 songwriters/composers. SHINee members also mentored both EXO and NCT and always actively supports and encourages other SM groups. They are the group that set the most trends, are ultimate all-rounders, and the models/inspiration for subsequent groups across company lines.
The fact that you guys said Chenle looks like the future head of SM/CEO is spot on hahaha cus NCT members always joke around that he is a CEO because his family is rich and I think his dad is a CEO? He has so much more predebut videos of him singing and one of my faves is the video of him and jisung meeting in China and him singing for his birthday concert that his family prepared for his album 🔥 He is one of the most stable vocals of NCT and he needs more appreciation!

Up! Since it said till 2019, I was hoping to see at least the Masked Singer performances of Doyoung or Taeil. Also, this is far more recent but if they'll do a special on nct vocals then clips of Doyoung from the Marie Antoinette musical are absolutely necessary!!!
Taemin went from debuting with barely any lines and (in his own words) tone deaf to being in line as one of SM's top vocalists 🥺. All due to his hard work and motivation.

The reason the majority of the TVXQ videos were fancams (for Junsu and Jaejoong) is because when they left SM and formed JYJ, they were blacklisted on TV. Meaning they weren’t invited to music shows or allowed to be on variety shows. It wasn’t until I believe 2020 or 2021 that they were finally given the okay to be on tv again.
Please do TVXQ Special. They set the standard for me.

Actually as an exol, I get shocked everytime they release smth new, they keeping learning and evolving, the fact that you can really hear the difference like when baekhyun released Bambi album, or in Kai and suho albums, also how you can hear the musical influence in suho and xiumin singing ...I remember listening to dftf album I was shocked by everyone, it makes me really proud and interested in their evolution as singers

Yea guys that is Chenle our little prodigy his parents held a concert for him before his voice changed so yes he’s CEO level. SM chased after him and his dad said yes because he recognized SM but Chenle was not into going to Korea and didn’t know SM so him and his mom said no but SM persisted and called his dad.

Yes, please do a TVXQ (with 5 members) special. You'd surely love them especially since you love listening to great vocals and harmonies. They have so many amazing live stages both in Korea and Japan and they're one of the few groups that sound so good and stable live.
TVXQ debuted when soloist (like Rain, se7en) were popular during those days. They really opened new gates in Korean GP and international fans to like groups again. It will be a fun segment if you do TVXQ special. Thanks guys as always.
SM hit the jackpot when they found Chenle. He gave up a stable career in China to join SM. His training period was only a few months because his vocals were already so polished.

Tvfxq set the bar for me with male idols. All members could SING, its just amazing! They used to do a lot of acapella and honestly you just can't find full groups that can do that and be able to also dance and perform with so much heart. I will never get over the fact that they are no longer 5 because honestly they were the best male group ever.

DBSK/TVXQ were THE standard when it came to live performances/vocals. Adlibs, acapella and harmonizations are their specialty and there's a video titled "DBSK - Acapella collection" on YT which you might be interested in. Would love to see you do a TVXQ special.

OMG PLEASE do a TVXQ special! They were considered the og kings of kpop before 3 members left, and bigbang got bigger. If you want to check out their vocals I recommend: Love in the ice (live), Bolero (live), and they also sang in acappella a lot during promotions. I honestly think they're still the only group till this day where ALL members can REALLY sing and can dance well too

@@laratsb2881 LOL yeah rapping wasn't their forte. I think they only added it just because it's a thing in kpop. They could've totally gone without any rapping. To be fair tho, they do have songs (ballads) that has zero rapping, I think those songs are the ones where they shine the most.

It's so amazing how Waleska always know exactly who the members are just bu looking at them. Chenle is actually called the CEO of SM because his family is rich and also because of the way he dresses and acts.
Check out Super Junior concerts. Super Shows are just peak talent. I became a KPop fan after seeing clips of Heartquake in concert. Obviously Yesung was my first bias.
TVXQ has Changmin, Junsu and Jaejong, KRY kings of Super Junior vocals, we have Jongyutae+key in SHINee, D.OBaekChen from EXO and now NCT power vocal.... SM and their vocals kingdom....

10:52 Efra you got that accurately. SMP (SM Music Performance) was started from the debut of Super Junior. That was when SM started to pay more attention on performance and synchronisation wise. SMP before Super Junior stands for SM Music Production. From H.O.T, S.E.S, Fly To The Sky, BoA, Shinhwa, until TVXQ. TVXQ was then contribute to SMP(performance) too but still keeping the SMP(production) style until today.
There is this Korean singer which also SM vocal trainer, The One. He said TVXQ and Taeyeon is the most discipline student for him. You can search The One in youtube but not many since youtube wasn't popular back then, lol. He is a soulful singer so as Taeyeon become a soulful singer. They had duet for ost Like a star and You bring me joy is The One song for his album but featuring Taeyeon.
I want to hear Chenle doing all this songs again, he is crazy good since so little, even now, he is so natural with his sound in every NCT Dream's song, I just love him a lot
What’s even crazier about Onew’s Nessun Dorma Cover, is that he is actually NOT TRAINED TO DO OPERA.. no training whatsoever, he just liked the song and wanted to sing it in front of Shawols/fans. The nearest to Opera training he had was probably for his Musicals before (2010-ish), latest supposedly for Something In The Rain Musical though he wasn’t able to do it coz of his Vocal Chords Surgery (if ai remember right).
I like him, but that's a sin for well trained classical vocalists.
Actually Onew is not a clasical trained singer, but he practiced for a few months to performance Nessun Dorma in some Shinee concerts. Even a classical singer reacted to his performance and said it's impressive for a non-classical singer. Could you please react to the full performance please. I'm sure you will enjoy it

I enjoyed this but sometimes I do wish compilations like this had more variety than just belts and high notes. Like, vocal ability can encompass multitudes.

yes. there are multitude of technicalities in singing that makes a singer an effective or efficient singer or just pure singer esp those who trained like kpop artist. maybe high notes are just taken as a reflection of ones ability in singing is because not everyone can effectively belt a high note performing high range songs. They have trained to settle their ranges which is more their forte or how they sing that note. most can hit a high note but its all about how they did that. how they rest their chords probably.

Taemin’s vocal has been improving a LOTT throughout the years. I’m so proud for how big he became. From the idol who was labeled as tone-deaf to now, he’s incredible
SM has always zeroed in on R&B (especially during 1st and early 2nd Gen) but they do it to this day. It’s largely influenced by Lee Sooman’s time in America before starting SM in Korea.

they said SM auditions are harder than a survival reality show. that's why they said that no SM trainee ever join those shows. i think in some interviews, they said that in a 100 participants, they only take 1 or 2 to be trainees.

I appreciated them so much when they knew every little things about SM artist. Especially when Efra said how Super Junior changed a lot of things in SM and how crazy and chaotic they are. I also love how this siblings do their reaction video. They are so smart when it comes to music. They also explained everything for people can't recognised those details.
