I bought the PS4 Pro when it launched really liked it. I traded my PS five a couple weeks ago and a PlayStation portal and an old iPhone 11 for a new four wheeler for my son. I went the next day after hearing about the PS five pro and what it was gonna cost and told myself now not gonna happen and bought a disc edition slim and a new portal and I’m very happy upgrading for my launch model to the slim not one part of me wants the PS five pro at that price even though I could’ve bought it with the price of what I paid for my slim and my portal together, even though I never play the portal, I just like having it. I used to play a variety games hard-core top three in the world in call of duty ghost for about the first year and a half of the game top 15 in advanced warfare. I’ve gotten a few years older and don’t have the patience to sit down and play all day to keep my rank. I can only pay for 1520 minutes at a time get a couple rounds in and once or twice a day and that’s about it so not worth it for me personally to have the pro model when I’m looking forward to is hopefully a PlayStation handheld coming in near future I really loved my white launch edition vita I believe it was the assassins Creed bundle. I thought about buying valve or logitech, but don’t think I would use them much not in a PC gaming only PlayStation.
You are completely right though, the price isn't worth what a person is getting with a ps5 pro. It is if a person already has the super bad ass tv to take advantage of pssr and hasn't bought a ps5 yet. But price to performance wise it's bullshit. The base ps5 gpu is somewhere between a 6700 and 6700xt, and the ps5 pro is just going up a notch in performance to a 6800 xt, and that's why not that many people can see that big a difference in graphical fidelity between the base model and the pro, just slightly smoother fps in fidelity mode. Its not a big enough jump to notice that much of a difference which is where pc gaming has been since the start pretty much. They could have at least made it true 8k at 120 fps but that wasn't possible without completely redesigning the whole cooling system and console. They also could make the ps5 chip do what the ps5 pro chip will, it would just run at its peak operating temperature because of the overclock it would take, and the hotter a chip runs the faster its transistors die. Base ps5 is more than advanced enough, and to me some games are looking more cartoonish on the updated hardware with the new ray tracing than how much more realistic it looks on the base ps5.

I never buy anything at launch for 2 reasons: (1) It makes companies lazy and can charge more for an unfinished product. And (2), why spend more for less. I always wait one year before buying anything. Within 1 year time, everything wrong with it is fixed and cheaper or worth it's true original price. Patience is how I'm gonna buy the PS5 Pro for $500 being a PC gamer. The PS5 Pro is great technology because it is a PC but for wayyyyy cheaper. Or, by next year, everyone will get screwed and the PS6 comes out ahaha because the PS5 Pro was simply a demo ahaha. For now I'm good, I have a desktop, laptop, and the Legion go. Adding the PS5 Pro is for the living room. I'll buy it next summer when all the bugs are fixed and the updates made it way better for $500 to $600.... preferably $500.
I'm with you, I wait to get games now. I don't need to play buggy games on day one. All of these promises from developers to consoles are getting old. No more day one for me on either front. I fully understand the work,effort and time put into the content and consoles.....but put it out when it works please.
Having a premium for the last 2 years hasn’t proven valuable. The games offered are old and crappy. Monthly games as well. Next to that “HZD” for example of games being on Premium and they can take it off at any time to charge for it is crap (I own it by the way) but what’s the point. Going back to basic which is still to much and will continue saving games on a USB over PS cloud. Totally not worth it Sony
As someone who used to order tons of Collector's Editions I have quit. I too wait on games. I have not even played black myth Wukong yet because I'm waiting on them to update the game more and obviously the physical Edition. No Space Marines 2 yet. I'm waiting on these games because I already know they're going to be released in a subpar State compared to 6 months after release. I might even wait longer
The cold is over (in a triumphant tone... followed by a sniffle) I rarely care about frame rates, I grew up with a PS1, a N64, and got a few other consoles over the years so I'm use to like 30FPS. I don't care. Funny enough, the only game I played in recent years where I noticed enough of frame drops that it was weird was Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection. The PS2 game runs better. I mainly got it so I don't have to break out the PS2 as much and so I can play the first game, because I never had that one. Aspyre fucked up on games that are like 20 years old. DD2 had issues in sections but that's just in towns so you're not doing much there anyway apart from shopping and picking up quests.
I have just recently been getting into console gaming with a ps2, wii, and soon a ps3. I am hoping at some point to try and get a current gen console so I can play GTA 6, and Robocop rouge city. If Sony keeps fucking up with the ps5, I may have to go with an Xbox

1. VRR 48-60??? no. It's 48-120hz 2. Games are like $69.99 (ultimate editions, special editions, any other BS editions are up to you if you're buying them). This is not expensive. Gaming is probably the cheapest it's ever been when inflation conversion is done. Paid Online services have been BS forever. Starting with WOW, then the console kiddies got hit with paid online fees and now it's here to stay. (Like freemium, micro transactions, and pay to win.)

Game prices would be fine if the content justified it, but it doesn’t. Charging almost double for certain editions that are 1/2 baked. Come on.

A lot of vrr tv's also only have VRR starting from the same range that the PS5 supports.
