I’ve been riding Indiana Jones since I was little for almost 24 years since 1999 and now that Indy finally got refurbishment I’m ready to ride it again and again
I was just excited it was going to get cleaned up and brought to basic working condition, it’s SO nice to see it get some actual love and attention and plussing! Edit: can’t fool me with that cut- I’m guessing the timing issues were still a thing, where you get stuck sitting at the end of the blow dart room.
I always hate that temple traffic. I think it has to do with how there loading and unloading people. When they try to get more capacity on the ride I bet that happens.
@@NishaKumar483 It definitely also sequences how looking it takes leading wheelchair parties. They can sometimes take longer to load and unload off the ride.
This was my favorite Disney ride of all time, I would hype it to all my friends and everyone who was a big Disney world fan, tell them what they're missing out on. Then, I finally got to return to Disneyland for the first time in 22 years back in December, and it was in a sad state... things were barely working or missing completely. Glad to see it's finally getting some love.
Would have been nice if they fixed ALL the broken effects, such as returning the dialogue rotations and the lava pit fog and bridge sway effect(hard to tell its state in the video but I didn't notice its reappearance).
What’s more infuriating is that Disney won’t pour money into getting the rotating walls in the Chamber of Destiny fixed. I know the original company went out of business but they’re still able to go elsewhere and have it specially made.
@@HauntFreak13 They can't fix it because they said it was causing damage to the layout of the ride. It's something that they will either never fix or scrap the whole ride and start all over just to fix. It's sad cause I remember it as a kid and it made it feel so real..
Projection mapping was made for something like Mara's face and those doors. Each new animation is a pleasant surprise. That rat room probably needed something different and it certainly got it, but I have no idea what "it" was. Guess I'll have to go ride in person, it's too fast to figure out on video.
Really, their ride vehicle stopped in between the two halves of the effect so that kinda broke it up and made it awkward. Basically in the first half there’s a bolt of lightning that shoots forward, then you go around the corner to the second half of the effect which is a hallway (mixture of projection and practical sets) that the lightning bolt hits, causing it to collapse. Then you turn and enter the dart room.
So 2:22 you see a lightning bolt, then you were supposed to go around the corner to see the lightning bolt hit the hallway but at 2:28 the ride vehicle stops, until 2:33 when it starts moving around the corner to the collapsing hallway at 2:36 - 2:40. Having better lighting would help.
So Indy has finally gotten a much-needed refurbishment. I must say I'm very impressed with the new projections and scenes added to the tunnel section. All of these additions are amazing, but I found many things still not working. If you want a breakdown of this problem check out X-S Bravo here on TH-cam, he goes into more detail. The audio is super out of sync towards the beginning of the attraction which is also called an LCU which stands for Local Control Unit used to trigger the sounds and music on the attraction. That's just one major problem to point out. Some other ones I noticed from the video can be the Destiny Room timing for the future was in delay and not properly synced up with the door opening, the bridge ropes still don't move, the pressure cannons shooting late with the blow darts sound and Indy barely swings the rope still. I did notice that Indy's hat was changed and fixed on the rope figure before the hat was round and had no definition of a fedora but now that is all fixed. But the boulder room looks so much better but one thing that doesn't seem to work 100 percent is the walls moving back, hopefully, they fix that too. I think this was a much-needed refurbishment and I hope it isn't the last.
Looks great. Thank goodness the rat scene is gone. That never made sense to me and it always looked terrible. The snake looks fantastic. Love the fangs on it
I mean the new scene is cool - but a lot of elements are still not workin right and/or the timing is off for the laser beams shooting. I would have preferred this stayed down another couple months to fix EVERYTHING.
Overall, nice job. One of my problems is the static Mara image projected onto the Candle Room scrim. It still looks super cheap. I was hoping they'd create an animation with projection mapping -- like she's trying to grab you.
Dave, I noticed in the other video in the door room it said that you have chosen Time and something about your destiny. Instead of youth, riches, look into the future. The new effects may be placeholders for the new movie tie ins.
It’s almost there, it’s so close to being how I remember but better! I know whenever they decide to clean it up a bit more and give a little more love it will be perfect 🤩

The effect originally never had the doors closing at all, rather the waving curtain would turn off and give the illusion in the low light that Indy shut the door. They might be able to do that with the new projection mapping instead of the curtain they have now, but it might mean more time with this ride closed. While that seems great for us Disney does lose quite a bit of cash when the ride is down so they often try to keep rides in operation as long as possible.
I remember going on this ride as a kid! I got super lucky and there was almost no line, so I rode this with my mom & dad like 5 times in a row :) Life was so fun and easy back then! (My memories of this are probably 2001 or 2002)

They put projection mapping on the broken doors. Athankyouu Btw. It's like the most simple mechanism in the entire park. I could fix it. I don't care who made it
God what a screw up. Disneyland is in a sad state now. All of the talented ride technicians were old dudes that retired during the pandemic, and didn't transfer any of their knowlege. The maintenance on these rides is horrific, and Indy was reoppened way too soon, and with zero testing. They are conducting the safety testing and feature fine tuning on the ride, with riders. I was there yesterday and the ride went down 6 separate times. Each time they'd have folks that had waited 90 minutes exit the line, then have a new group line up, and do the same thing. Really horrible experience. Mark my words: The lack of skill in maintaining these rides will result in another Thunder Mountain style decapitation.
Disappointing. Truly. The cobra has protruding fangs now? Whoopee! How about the lava pit without fog, the awful & outdated Mara scrim effect inside the skull room, the dark ride quality of the last corridor. 👎 This is all we're getting, folks. Don't expect any more overhauls anytime soon.
What Lands are better then Adventureland at DL? CarsLand? Epcot World, Showcase? The opening of the Adventureland treehouse and this attraction coupled with the Tiki room and Jungle cruise make a cohesive spirit and great moments for all ages. To any of my friends that don’t get Disneyland I send them here first. The Tropical 🌴 hideaway dock and lounge in the center ties it all together. The Land has everything for me nostalgia great food at Bengal BBQ and the Dole Whip hut 🛖…. Such a remarkable achievement in entertaining. Like Toon Town it takes decades to get a land dialed in… 😊

The door switcher repairs would have cost a fortune because they would have to take apart part of the show building from what I could understand.

The fact that they STILL haven't gotten Sallah's audio at the end to match up with the door you go through at the start is INFURIATING

I think the effect used to be dry ice fog machine which I know they couldn’t really fix

Yes the video is not accurate to real life, at the end of the ride where jones is hanging on the rope there is a steep dip after the ball comes
One of the things I noticed right away is that Indiana Jones movements are much more fluid. Did they upgrade them to an a1000?

The doors aren’t broken, that was replaced with projection mapping in 2015

As you can see Disney Executives gave the Imagineers a refurbishment budget of $175 dollars.

I still don't understand why they couldn't pay Harrison Ford a boat load of money to come in and do some voice work for this ride.
