    About NuggetNoggin:
    Hey! I'm Michael, I love to get outdoors and discover awesome things with my metal detector. I started treasure hunting when I was 12 years old and shortly after received my first metal detector. Since then, I've been hooked and just love going out to search for the unknown. You may see me in the woods crawling under an old house or diving down in the river to search for rings. Wherever the adventure brings us, I'll try my best to keep you entertained.

    Haven't swung on a vine in too many years. That looked like a lot of fun. Glad your friend didn't get hurt when it broke. So sad those lovely chimneys no longer have houses to live in. They're beautiful.

    I love your videos. I metal detect myself with the garrett ace 200. My house some time around the Civil war. 1863 was the last tax record. But i haven't even been able to detect and dig up half of the yard because there are so many signals you can pinpoint any! I have found a door knob, square head nails, and even a block of what i believe is silver of lead.

    That last house looks like it was a made by a movie-studio, back then they would make half-decent houses to last long enough to get multiple uses out of it; the other smaller houses would be for production use; which is why it is built in the middle of the woods, and is falling apart so easy, and yet "appeared" to be so finely made.

  • @WildWestGal
    @WildWestGal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nugget, that manor house is a lot older than you think. Those bricks in the chimney are the size used up to the Victorian era. And that cast iron piece you found is part of a fireback plate used to protect the masonry in the fireplace and also reflect heat back into room. In wealthy homes such as this, those were always used in fireplaces in the 19th century and earlier. They could be very elaborately made with a family crest, or chosen design cast in bas relief, and often included the year the house was built.
    This was a wealthy family, signaled by the number of chimney vents that would have been on top of the chimneys by virtue of the double-sided fireplaces. It was a show of wealth back in the day. All that beautiful local quartz, granite and marble was also a big statement. Very cool find!

    There just might be an old coin under the mantel of the fireplace of that old mansion. I saw a guy on my local PBS station display his collection of old coins he discovered that had been placed under the fireplace mantels of old houses. The builder of the house would place a coin under the mantel as a token of good luck and wealth to happen to those who would live in the house. Sometimes the fancier the house the more valuable the coin.
