Lew just took the wave game to the next level......Brah you certified for real!!!!!! Brah you should've dropped a mic at the end......Literally!!!!!!!!
Preciate the information man this was definitely a eye opener. Cuz I have a itchy dry scalp and I've been wondering what could I do to stop this but thanks to you bro i finally got a solution. Salute!.
Yo! This helped me out so much. Did the test and realized I have high porosity hair and was treating my hair all wrong. I've been putting oil in my hair and then combing through after I get out of the shower and my hair is already so much softer after a week. I know this is going to help a ton of people out, good lookin out JLew!
First off I wanna say great video; it was very thorough and I think this is extremely important not only for wavers but hair health in general. As a fellow low porosity waver, I had a few questions: 1. What are specific examples of creams/butters you found to work for low porosity hair? 2. For the LOC method, what is the general timeline you apply each stage. All in one day? Over the course of a few days? 3. If using a sealing oil, wouldn't adding cream/butter after the oil cause buildup due to the oil being hydrophobic.
Oh snap! 2 videos in one week? I like it! Great stuff JL. Never knew about the distilled water, hard water, and soft water thing before. Seems like I learn something new from you every video like this. Didn’t even know about that last test lol! I’m definitely low porosity cause the water bounces off my head just like yours did in the video. Keep it up the great work fam!
This video is EXACTLY what I needed. The explanation of the types of porosity, the info about protein levels (which has always confuses me) and the water tests were highly informational. Thank u 4 the pearls of knowledge. Well done.
kudos to you fam,you & kuntry kang are the only 2 wavers that i've had heard speak on this topic in depth.when it comes to hair what works great for one person may not do a thing for another.you have to know your hair chemistry!!!
I appreciate your determination to present informed info. I’ve tested my porosity before but just tap water and not even lukewarm. So I’ll be retesting using 2 of the methods you detailed to be sure of what I think. Keep up the GREAT WORK on the GREAT VIDS.
Bro this video is super helpful, it was everything I was looking for. I was researching my hair texture and porosity and density to try and find the correct product to put in my kinky and coily hair and apparently I had everything I needed in my cabinet lol. I’ve just been using them separately when maybe i should be using them together. I’m going to try out the LOC method, hope it works ! Thanks a lot.💯
Had to sub when i saw you were from my city dog! I was watchin 3WP 360Jeezy and all that till i found your channel homie. Just started brushing a week ago and seein some progress now! Keep up these helpful videos man they really do help!
What's happenin' homie! Out here reppin Mo City! Instant subscribe based on Houston love. Info is solid. No bad talk, but I haven't seen poppy,360, or Cruse hit this topic. Keep hustling man! IT'S H-TOWN FO REEAAAAAALLLLL.....
Definitely confirmed what I was doing was righ. I tried the loc and I still had to add oil all day. Tried the omb and I didn't have to add oil until I went to sleep. Then I found out that I'm HP and there are so many products just for that shae moisture has good ones for LP & HP.
Been here since 17k remember This now when u blow my guy been looking at ur videos since like 7k but today I was just realizing I didn't sub but keep up the good videos bro keep grinding
So I just did both tests and here’s my results. For the water drop test, I used an opened container and water would generally would just either run through or just bead on my head. It would stay there for a good few mins lol. For the float test, the hair would sit atop for the most part. Since I have kinky hair, I tend to have clumps of hair together so some of my hair strands would submerge in the water. But those hair strands, remain near the top since it was still attached to other hair strands that haven’t submerged yet. If I poke at it, the strands would sink to the bottom. So with all of that being said, I’m 99% sure i have low porosity but would you also I have a hint of medium as well? If so, should I just stick with advice mainly for low porosity hair
This sounds like such a weird thing to say, but fuck man I appreciate this guys general intelligence. It's actually refreshing to hear someone speak with real knowledge on this.
What I do is wash my hair with a low sulfate shampoo maybe with oil in is. Do the wash and style. Once its all dry mix some Shea moisture moisturizer and oil together and add it to my hair. Or a leave in and oil. And my waves be spinning. But Im a coarse hair waver so idk
it’s hard finding store bought products as a low porosity waver. so many of them contain proteins and are often advertised for daily use. b4 i started waving i would use those products daily and get so much build up and stuff 😂
Appreciate this video man. Looks like I have low porosity. Did your third test and the hair immediately started to roll down to my forehead and face. Real quick tho. What creams or butters do you mean? Like the like the as I am cream butter? Or a carrot cream?
Hey, great channel, I noticed there are only one Torino brush on the site...... is the the quiet before the storm!?!?!? Or is BK focusing on the Royalty line for a while?
You may have said in another video, i looked for a minute but what is a good “clarifying” shampoo. I’m sure there are a bunch of them. I don’t want to dry my scalp out too much.
PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER VIDEO ON HAIR TEXTURES AND TYPES CUS SOME OF THESE PEOPLE THINK BECAUSE YOU HAVE CLOSE WAVES MEANS UR HAIR IS COARSE WELL THAT IS JUST WRONG AND STRAIGHT HAIR IS NOT A TEXTURE!!! YOU CAN HAVE STRAIGHT HAIR WITH COARSE THICK HAIR STRANDS
Coconut oil actually doesn't have any protein, it's been a big debate in the natural hair community but this article ( www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/home/do-oils-really-have-proteins )does a great job at breaking down the molecular components of how protein in carrier oils (specifically coconut oil) are too large to penetrate the hair shaft. Another key factor is how the oils are processed. People who are have said coconut oil has ruin their hair due to the misconception of protein sensitivity may just be that the hair doesn't work well with it or the person is allergic.
@JustinTime By using heat do you mean put the products in your hair like the LOC method then Shower cap in shower? Or shower cap then put products in after your shower??
cwasonga7 lol, I'll answer, it's best used during your deep conditioning/hot oil treatment phase, and you can do it after the loc if you want better penetration, that's called the greenhouse method
@Chalsey Wilder, he said nothing about deep conditioning or hot oil treatment! I took it what he said as using the cap to trap heat and open your pores so the moisturizer can better penetrate your scalp for a low porosity waver! If that’s the case, my ? Is when is the best time using this method?? Before, during or after you apply your products?!
This literally had nothing to do with the video but how do you shift your crown from a beehive to a swirl? Besides that, nice informative video 👍🏽 Keep up the good work man
Jlew am confused, on your truth about moisturizer vid you said you liked JBCO Strenghthen & Restore leave in, but it has protein in it. But your saying that low porisity need to stay away from protein products??
Can the sun and heat index outside play a roll in how much moisture your hair holds?? With my job I’m outside in the heat a lot and we can’t wear durags
@@JustinTimeJLew Yes I did. Ppl don't know that everything ain't fa everybody. That's where the saying find what works for you comes from. Before I jumped in the wave game 6m ago.I learned about my hair before waving!💯💯
What am I missing in my hair... I wash and condition with argon conditioner. Then I finish with coconut nd grape seed oil. My hair will shine for maybe an hour then gets dry fast
I also got questions on when I should wash out products and when I should do methods because one thing I notice when I'm trying to do it on my own is my head gets flakey and dull. Im getting mad lost on what methods I should use and also what products to use.
I want to make sure so ima tell you about my hair, kinky, thick, hard to comb through, soft, when i wash my hair it becomes dry/damp and sometimes brittle, but it’s soft 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Love your channel though by the way! Despite some common misconceptions I can tell you do research before you hit that record button and hair health is extremely important. This is coming from a licensed barber that understands that there is a lack of education amongst men and their natural hair/waves

It sounds like I'm low porosity. It takes a while for my hair to take in water or moisture.

What am I missing in my hair... I wash and condition with argon conditioner. Then I finish with coconut nd grape seed oil. My hair will shine for maybe an hour then gets dry fast
Since I don't put products on my face, couldn't I just use facial hair?
