While playing around with a few ideas for videos to go along with The Gael (my fav single piece of music) I noticed how perfectly the music matched up with this film, so I quickly threw this vid together.

@@aliciasnow9165that’s a ridiculous statement. the movie gave it massive international recognition. Regardless if it was composed by a Scottish guy and if it’s a Scottish tune…. It matched the movie perfectly. The last 10 minutes of that film have almost zero words, no dialogue, it’s just pure edge of your seat action, raw emotion, and it’s so intense. The Gael could not have been a better choice for the emotional feelings that scene and that movie created.. so fucking emotionally provocative. That last 10 minute sequence is one of the best in cinematic history and the tune is a huge part of that. Epic score for an epic movie who cares who wrote it or where it came from.

The mantra hook on this song and the minor pentatonic are haunting. 6/8 rhythm is boss in my opinion.

This is the only song that can make me cry just by how beautiful and emotional it is. And there's just something about that slow drumbeat and the low instrument (trombone?) that just makes the song that much better. If I ever got to see this song played live, I'd probably be the weird lady sobbing.

I didn't read your video description UNTIL I had finished watching. I thought what an absolutely genius idea it was for the filmmakers to use The Gael for this extended scene. To use no dialogue, no sounds --- nothing but this fantastic tune? Wow. So much more evocative and shiver-inducing than the real sounds of battle. THEN I read your description and discovered that YOU did this. I am in absolute awe. All I can say now is THANK YOU. Whew....
EDIT: Not even sure I want to watch the film if they don't use The Gael!! I'll just watch your video over and over!

Scottish (Celts) History is attached to Spanish History, we are descendants from celts who mixed with iberians and after that with romans, there was no mix with the "moors" that's a myth btw, so we are all brothers, no matter if you we are spanish from Galicia, Catalunña, Andalucía or Extremadura... we are proudly celt decendents!
Makes no sense as to how the spanish could have reached northern britain with there being any historical documentations....

There are spanish descendants in the blood of scots and irish but that can mostly be traced to the survivors of the spanish armada
Its not attached to spain we have our own celtic herrotage seperate to other celtic nations celtic people irish scots welsh came from the far east near the black sea between georgia and ukraine region then they moved along the iberian peninsula some settled in northern spain and northern france before settling into the british isles so not many celts in spain or northern france mainly in the british land whilst the english are saxons they came from germany

It's the better one and it's not on the soundtrack I was curious if you got it from another source because I've literally been looking for this version of the song with that twa guy base in the background for YEARS

I can only say what a wonderful clip but…..most of you commenting show your complete ignorance of Scottish history and the works of Shakespeare. When the Bard of Avon wrote MacBeth he got the history very wrong. Have a read of 'On the trail of the real Macbeth, King of Alba' by Cameron Taylor and Alistair Murray, which gives one of the best accounts of who MacBeth really was. Then take a course in Scottish history. By the way there was once a strong Celtic presence in England. It is now thought that Boudica and the Iceni were Celtic and their language closer to Welsh than English. Oh, and the imagery is taken from the Michael Fassbender film version of Macbeth.
