    As a Scot, who is very proud of his country, I'd like to thank you for this affectionate look at Edinburgh. I used to work in the Canongate (part of the Royal Mile). Even though I was there 5 days a week and everything was familiar to me, every lunchtime I would just walk up and down gazing around me and thanking my lucky stars that I lived and worked in such a stunning city.

    • @EbrightExplores
      @EbrightExplores  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, I remember I first left my family for 15 months during a military deployment, it was tough, but we kept in touch the whole time, and It made me realize that those relationships are typically so strong, that distance doesn't ever change anything, even when you come back. Every time I do see family it's a really amazing time because we haven't seen each other and it's always fun to catch up. Moving and going to new places is a part of life, it will change and grow you in ways that you can't even think of. It is hard to initially leave, I get it, I hope your family is supportive, because if not, that can make it harder too! But you just have to take that leap, and remind yourself that you will see them again! Or if you settle in the UK, they can visit you! Life is wayy too short....don't let anything hold you back, I've met too many elderly people that regret never doing anything adventurous in life for me not to take some risks 😅😂

    I was just there in April for 10 days. It was my fourth time since 2001. I currently live in San Diego, California, but it's my dream and goal to live in Edinburgh. However, I'm finding it incredibly difficult to find work there, as you can not legally get a Work Visa until you have a job lined up. As a friend of mine would say, "That's like putting the cart or carriage in front of the horse, as opposed to behind it." I've submitted dozens of CVs and applications, but since I don't have the legal right to work in the UK, no one is getting back to me accept to say, "Sorry, we've decided to go with someone else." Any and all help/recommendations/advice would be gladly accepted! If there's any way for me to make the move, I'd jump at the opportunity!

    • @EbrightExplores
      @EbrightExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is hard to obtain a work visa there, I personally haven't ever tried to work in the UK, but I do know in order for an American to work there, you have to find a company that would be willing to sponsor a work visa for you, there are also ways you can pay for a residence visa, but that can be expensive. I was only there for about 3 months and just on the basic tourist visa that Americans have, which is 6 months long.

      @Scorpion6174 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EbrightExplores Thanks for the response. It's looking more and more difficult trying to make a complete move there. I may hafta just settle for an extended 3 to 6 month visit/vacation next year. I'm gonna keep trying to make the official move. But, if I find it's not possible, vacations will have to do. Thanks again for your reply. All my best!
