I think the traveler has completely forgotten that they can use elements at this point
Traveler used geo in Navia's story quest, but that's the most recent moment I can remember. Hopefully in Natlan Traveler will actually use elements more. They only used dendro once too, if I remember correctly.
And you've forgotten that when people are terrified, they don't think rationally.
I mean what would any of the elements do? Hydro can shoot, but arle dodges shots. Dendro? Not good against pyro. Electro? Want to blow up? Geo is the most logical one. Anemo? I dont think they have the time to charge up that skill.

@@Dubs22005 I think what actually happened in this figh is that no one was gonna use their powers since it's a nonlethal duel. The boss figh an it's mechanics aren part o what canonically went down.
When Arle was satisfied she started usin powers to end the duel. If she hadn I'm pretty sure her an the Traveller are at least equal in martial skill. They're equally as speedy an likely the only difference in physical strength is Arle's heels givin a height advantage (remember that a thick stone floor broke before the Traveller did after a god gundam tried to smash em).
Honestly the main trainin montage we need is one where the Traveller overcomes their weakness to the various things that are shown to jus knock em ou includin but not limited to taint gas, the soun o 10,000 mosquitos weaponized by Dottore, an eye contact.

Few know that, in Commedia dell'Arte, Capitano is basically a liar, a coward. All bark but no bite. A cheater, a liar and a showoff. I mean, while harbingers aren't exactly as their counterparts of the italian theater, they have something in common. They didn't got those names for no reason. Plus, harbingers always lie about the others. Maybe Capitano isn't as strong, or as honorable as many think.

Man that sudden teleportation that Arlechinno did to loom over the traveler during the Crimson Moon sent shivers down my spine. Her powers are so vast and powerful. I wonder if even the Hydro Dragon could stop her.

@@napsterblock idk bro, some say that Arlechinno is a recarnation of a Moon Goddess, which would make her powers older than the Sovereign Dragons.
@@johnl163 She's only a descendent of the Crimson Moon Dynasty. She even mentions that Pierro instantly figured out her past and history (him being a Khaenri'ahn royal mage himself from the Eclipse Dynasty). Her powers are based on the balemoon bloodfire that runs through her veins from her bloodline. If she had been stronger than Capitano, Pierro would've known, and we would have an indication of it.
Even without all this, we already know from in-game lore that the Moon Goddess is just one of the shades (subordinates/lesser offspring) of the Primordial One. Therefore even if she were a reincarnation of the Moon Goddess, she wouldn't be as powerful as a complete dragon sovereign, who were direct challengers to the Primordial One.

Note to self: Never let Arlecchino trap Sonic & The Flash in the Crimson Moon. The Flash may have the Speed Force, but the Crimson Moon IS her Speed Force.
There's a reason why Arlecchino chose the path of peaceful negotiations instead of just forcefully obtained the Hydro Gnosis, and that's Neuvillette. She might have a chance pre-archon-quest but after archon quest it's would just be Neuvilette speed blitzing her. Tsaritsa knows it too that's why she chose Arlecchino as the one for the mission. Tsaritsa learned from her mistake that sending Harbingers to fight Archon doesn't always end well after Inazuma. Signora was supposed to have a peaceful delegation with the Raiden Shogun but the moment she chose violence (invoked by her underestimation against the Traveler), she was doomed to die and Arlecchino probably figured that would be the case after she saw how Childe got one-shotted.
0:51 This is the part where you can see Freminet was using the unsharp part of his claymore to hit Arlecchino, not trying to cut her (Lynette also did the same thing). They still love their Father so much it hurts.

The traveler couldn't even beat Scaramouche all alone. Nahida confirmed that it took them a loop of more than 100 attempts with the powers of dreams to beat him, which means that without Nahida's help, Scara would have torn the traveler to pieces since he had practically become a god.

This fight really shows a concerning picture for The Traveler. Even after obtaining five of the seven Elements they still stood no chance against the FOURTH Harbinger. It just begs the question what exactly is The Traveler going to do against Capitano let alone The Big Three Harbingers?
Because it's made very clear that just obtaining the remaining two elements is just simply not going to cut it.
@vc5ly In Arle's voicelines she says Capitano is very powerful. Not likely something you say to someone who ranks below you but who knows.
Varka also has commented on his power.

It actually makes good sense in a way that traveller lost and was made to realize how much difference is there in their power. But props to traveller they did well keeping up with arlecchino through most of the fight without using elements plus traveller not having recovered all of their power yet.

@@Esengan If you'd paid attention to the story... that "giant energy sword" was the combined power of all the wishes of the people whose visions had been stolen. Every single big fight the traveller has had actually, we've been carried- HARD- by other peoples' power. Against Osial, it was the adepti powering us up. Against osial's wife, shenhe was there with us. We fought Childe mono e mono, but we didn't win, he just left when he realized we didn't have the Gnosis. Signora lost, I suppose, though she was finished by Raiden. We literally lost against god-form scara what was it... over 10k times? Using mental simulations. Nahida and Sumeru's "knowledge" is what carried us through that. I could go on but point remains. I think the argument for why we didn't use elemental power is that we weren't trying to hurt Arlecchino, just protect the kids but... that would be a pretty weak argument considering how INSANELY strong she is.

@@dth_w4v3s Right, except he DID canonically fight on his own against some strong opponents like Andrius, Childe, Signora and He would have canonically done all of the damage to ScaraMech(since Nahida was more support than DPS there), so he should be fairly strong anyway. We don't demand him winning but at least not failing in such a pathetic manner.

Tartaglia lost because he was overconfident he could force the Traveler to spill out the Gnosis' location, ultimately underestimating the Traveler's resilience, his own much lesser by comparison.
Signora was over-reliant on elemental magic above any strategy or plan of action to the point she's a sitting duck yelling "random bs go!!" the entire fight.
It stands to good reason that a vicious, cunning, cold-blooded lady that can fool her prey into debilitating themselves is something the Traveler would be at least at odds with them if not capable of exploiting every inch of the Traveler's hubris.

While Aether did lose the fight, he did not use elements (Eula is a prime example of Elementless DPS) and is the only who got out of it unscathed, the others had to rest for at least two days and also while the others where trapped by the spikes, he is the only who manage to free himself. Plus Arlecchino has put a bit more effort just to make him stand down. Also Arlecchino touched him

I really like the fact that Arlecchino shows that she is loyal to those she cares, she could have easily ended Aether right there, and it would be a monumental victory to the fatui, but he trusted her and helped her, so she won't do that to him.
if the Fatui wanted the Traveler dead they would've kill them looong ago. Considering their knowledge about descenders, they probably are letting them roam around Teyvat to see what they do.

Gonna be honest... The fight looks great as it really showcases the true strength of the 4th harbringer and how close the Top 3 are in god levels. Unfortunately this scene has an Achilles' Heel and once you notice it, the entire fight falls off. Arlecchino may herself say that she was holding back but looking in further, it looks like everyone has holding back.The Siblings weren't even planning on full offensive towards her at all. Freminet literally changes his strike to make it non fatal the last second. Which is totally understandable because they don't actually want to kill her.
However for the Traveller though... He was severely holding back and it doesn't make any sense why. For starters he doesn't use a single element... Which I wished he did because at least it would look like he's trying. And before you guys say it wouldn't make difference... Look at how he fights against Scaramouche vs how he fights against Arlecchino. He runs fast like a cheetah, jumped 100 ft in the air and literally tanked Scaramouche slamming him to the ground (I'm pretty sure that arm must weigh a lot). He fights so aggressively against Scaramouche that it makes no sense why he fought grounded and more defensively against Arlecchino.
Either way this is a terrible way of showcasing how strong your opponent is by purposely weakening our protagonists. The fight looks like Arlecchino use her vision (and delusion) against 4 visionless fighters, one who is an adventurer while the other is a magician with a parlor trick, which makes Arlecchino less stronger than she should be.
It is so annoying and I am sick of it honestly.
Hoyoverse have GOT to stop contradicting their own lore just to drive character sales. I get it - Nr. 4, very strong - but the Traveler has impressive feats up his belt as well. Sure, many fights were with help of others, but even then, wasn't the traveler the one at the centre of it all? Every arlecchino simp is just trying to find excuses as to why he lost so pathetically.
The Traveler literally has no reason to hold back and yet mihoyo goes: 'We want this harbinger to sell more than it will already, so let's nerf our protagonist.'

damn, if he had at least used his elements, the battle would have been much more worthy and the loss would not have looked so pathetic no matter which blade he uses. But he didn't even try to use magic, neither electro for speed, nor geo for protection, nor anemo to fight her in the air, nor even hydro to weaken her thread blades, etc. Even if you consider that her blades are a special fire, fire is still fire and water will weaken it anyway. In addition, seeing from past cutscenes how gg manipulates the elements, he is quite capable of giving water the right concentration, compaction or something else to at least slightly weaken its special fire

Like the main thing that makes the traveler special is that he's able to use the elements all at once yet he stops doing so after raiden fight

It was probably the fact that the Knave could've killed him right then and there, but she didn't. The traveler is really strong so he probably thought he could beat her, but he realized that his journey could've come to an end right there.
During the early conversations traveller already had a vague realization that arle wasn't planning on killing anyone hence didn't fight with her 'seriously' (even though outcome would be the same )

Traveler defeated only Childe and Signora with his own strength. When we were fighting with Ei ambitions of dead people and Yae helped us. Nahida and wisdom of whole Sumeru people helped defeating Scara. Now traveler tried to win against Arlecchino, The 4th of 11 harbingers with his own strength. But we can see the result and I wonder if someone helping him against Columbina in Natlan

Signora had already lost most of her power as the Crimson Witch of Flames over all these ages, it's one of the reasons why her boss title is Crimson Witch of Embers, since embers are dying flames. She was using her full strength, she does not have a vision (she uses the art of liquid fire she learnt from Sumeru during the cataclysm), and to enter her flame form and forgo her delusion is to actively burn her life. So she was going all out.
Oh and Im not trying to be a traveller apologist or anything lol, loved seeing them be humbled, but the lore's the lore
