Handstands are about building awareness and creating new neurological pathways in our brain. Even tho some level of shoulder and core stability is required, handstands are mastered once we become conscious of where our body is in space. By exposing ourself to the position on a frequent basis, we are guarantee to be able to balance upside down. It is just like learning how to walk :)
Wish you the best of luck in your handstand journey! Please feel free to leave your comments and questions down in the comment section.
    Stay focus, Stay balanced.

Beautiful work.Yes, it's a perfect workout for all who have a perfect hollow body at will and can slip the belly button under the ribs. One has to be very comfortable with the early exercises. I've seen injuries from the facing away wall exercise (although I love it). I would never teach a handstand facing away. I would build up the body, and use kicking exercises on the floor and then facing the wall. I don't know why yoga people teach it this way. By the time a gymnast teaches it, the kick up may come short at first, but the confidence is there.

after three months, I was able to kick up into a handstand and now I can hold it already for several seconds without the wall. I still need the wall to kick up, but it's only a matter of time. Go for it, consistency is everything :)
    ----------
day 1: first time trying this, i am so lame. i am a woman, 30, normal weight, just started exercising three weeks ago because of covid19. will post updates here regularly
day 2: still lame. will have to keep going
day 3: i already have more strength in my arms and managed to walk closer to the wall, which was not possible in the beginning
day 4: I keep gaining strength, being able to walk to the wall with my hands better and better. Definitely need to work on my core muscles though
day 5 and 6: I'm gaining strength! But I'm starting to realize for someone who never exercised this is nothing you learn in four weeks. I really want to master this headstand, so I will keep going
day 8: I'm gaining a lot of strength in my arms and walking toward and away from the wall is becoming easier every day. Still far away from a free handstand! But I'm super motivated, let's do this!
day 14: honestly, I've made so much progress in two weeks. I can now easily walk on my hands toward the wall and away from it, still not sure when I'll be able to do a free handstand, also need to find my balance, but it's so much fun!
week 4: I'm still on it and it's easier, but this is really a long process. I should rather post weekly than daily updates
week 5: I made some amazing progress guys, I can now hold myself for a few seconds without the wall! So important to pay attention to the positioning of your hands

This isn't a philosophical idea that came to me in the shower nor is it a mind-blowing discovery that took ages to find but you're the only person on the internet that makes me go "Woah!! This skilled guy here started from the zero! He couldn't handstand, or didn't do it with perfect form, he wasn't particularly strong or shredded or flexible and he still made it this far".
You're a phenomenon, Gabo. You don't get the views that you deserve (which I think should be 40-60k per video *for now*) but I hope that won't discourage you!
This is a simple suggestion, but doing hypertrophy/ strength routines for all levels and muscle groups (say chest/ triceps) might gain you more views. Selfish suggestion right there ;P
Keep doing what you always do pal, I'll always enjoy your content and most of all your great persona!
    Have a great day/ night!

I did this video a lot back in 2020 and it helped SO much. I've fallen off my handstands since getting pregnant and now that I'm a few months postpartum, I'm ready to get back into my handstands. I can still find hold time even with taking about a year off, but I lost tons of progress for sure. I've been doing another handstand video lately and I've done tons over the years but I just found my way back to this one, because I remember how much I liked it and how beneficial it was! truly such a great routine. I'm committing myself to doing this every other day for the next 30 days 🙌🏼 excited to see the progress I make!

And for my question I would like to renew my request (it sounds demanding tho, but I can’t really find another fitting word 😅) for elaborating on what to do when one suffers from scoliosis, which parts to strengthen and which parts to stretch depending on which side the scoliosis is you know what i mean 😅 thank you Gabo! Much love as always!

Great tips Gabo, thanks!! Ive been spending the whole last week practicing kicks and balance with a free handstand (over a yoga mattress). I got a few 2-3 sec hold but it's not 100% straight yet. I'll be focusing on this daily routine for the next weeks, and try practicing my free handstand only the weekend. Im very exhausted today, I pushed too much doing around 30 mins of free handstand practice every day!

Thank you for this video! Started handstand training today and will be doing this every day for the next 50 days. Will document my progress here.
Day 1: The cue "push THROUGH your arms" helped activate both my scapulas. My scaps wing and this completely solved the issue momentarily. Got about 30 seconds on the diagonal hold and next goal is to touch my nose and chest against the wall.
Day 2: Got closer to wall but felt back compression so I suspect my core isn't engaged enough.

I’m not one to comment on videos but I feel like I need to share this. I was so shocked at how simply applying his tip to focus on your hip alignment rather than your legs when kicking up instantly gave me not only longer handstand holds, but way more consistent holds. Before I would sometimes hold a good 5 second handstand then fall back down but now no joke I’m holding more than 5 seconds 7/10 times. THIS IS LEGIT!!💪 Best video on handstands I’ve seen

Hey Gabo, I need your advice :-) How do you balance Yoga, skill and strength? I´m 8 years into Yoga and 5 into calisthenics... But I have a hard time trying to balance both out. When I focus more on yoga, I slow my progress in skill and strength and viceversa... Merging all into one didn´t work out for me, as it got too complicated and it diluted my progress as well.... • @DancingDeity
      @DancingDeity 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Perhaps you’re getting ahead of yourself. It’s imperative that you learn how to engage the core and learn to use it efficiently in movement before training in handstands (if you’re not active enough in your core, you can hurt your lower back). I’m a nobody here but I can advise you to take some Pilates classes and Yoga as well. Pilates is not hardcore but the minimal controlled movements gives you deeper insight into how to activate your core... which I think should be a pre-requisite to inversions. Find a good instructor and you’ll see what I mean.

I have the same issue, and for me it is literally the shoulder flexibility. I cannot lie flat on my back, raise my hands above my head and have my arms touch the ground. They hover above. For them to touch the floor I need to arch my back. This is the same in the handstand - if your shoulders aren't flexible enough to be above you in a straight line with the hollow body position, it won't do it in the handstand either. Work on shoulder flexibility and end range strength, and see if that helps you :)
